  • I really liked the Pagemaster as a child…

  • Oh! I remember the beginning of this movie! Then I got scared and changed the channel =P

  • Huh. I remember this movie being alot cooler when I was a kid.

  • 4:38 lol Nostalgia Critic literally took a page outta TeamFourStar's book.

makes me wonder if he watches their abridged series? :P

  • Mr. Librarian are you a Pedophile?

  • The Pagemaster is an AWESOME kids movie. And I definitely remember it.

  • Major plot hole: He didn't get the nails his father needed to finish the unfinished treehouse. So, why the **** is the kid in the Tree House at the end? HE DIDN'T GET WHAT HE WAS SUPPOSED TO! Also, I wondered if Christopher Loyd stole the cash on the kid while he was "in book land." "Don't mine me, I'm a creepy pedophile bibliophile who's going to rape your comatose body and steel your cash.

  • 4:37

Nostalgia critic: "I need an adult!"

    Guru: "I AM AN ADULT!!!"

  • eh to me this movie is ok. i liked it as a kid but looking back at it i think its just "okay" i mean i liked the dragon. i liked the giant squid. i liked the whale.

  • 4:01 My childhood is destroyed.

  • i need an adult

    I AM AN ADULT

  • i love this movie,but what eva

  • I watched this all the time when I was a kid, but this movie didn't make me wanna read books...in fact it never crossed my mind.

  • I remember seeing Pagemaster in elementary school, it was pretty good

  • I love this movie. The only complaint I have about it is in the trailer for it, he gets a freakin sword when he wakes up instead of Christopher Lloyd hovering over him, and if you watch the trailer, the sword scene looks like it would've been badass, I don't care if it did or didn't go along with the movie.

  • The people that shelve books at libraries actually have the official job title "Page". xD

  • This movie was and still is one of my very favorite movies as a child. Memories of watching it over at my grandma's during our visit to the Smoky Mountains play over and over in my mind...and here I sit watching one of my favorite movie critics totally raping it in front of me with his rants as I laugh hysterically...my God, how I've grown. XP

  • Moby Dick? More like Movie Dick!!

  • now that horse thing he did fucking awesome

  • just have to say this when it comes to the scene where the kid runs of with the books: LOOK at those BOOK!!? DAMN if i´d find classics looking like that I´d know for sure they´re worth a LOT!!! I like buying books from second hand shops (ya know that ´smell´ the old books have, like new cars?) but shit those look like smth a collector would hunt down! Kid, you´re carrying great deal of money! DONT RETURN THEM! :D

  • Now that looks like a library where I could spend my whole day reading my favourite books!! :D The atmosphere (lets leave the akward bearded man aside), the looks, the size..no..other customers, anywhere? ok creepy but maybe that´s why I like it? <:)

  • While I don't agree about the views it's still very amusing heh

  • I want to be a good father... BUT I JUST HATE HIM SO MUCH!!

  • I used to love this movie SO much.

  • Okay, i see why this is doing bad. They are trying to get kids to read. The problem is they are trying to get CHILDREN to read Dr. Jackel and Mr. Hide, and Moby Dick. Those are not good books for people who dislike reading to read.

  • I always thought this movie was puff the magic dragon... We watched them back to back in preschool but I guess I fell asleep during the Puff one.

  • I actually appreciate this movie even more now that I'm older. I love to read and looking at it now know where scenes later on in the movie come from like Gulliver's Travels.

  • hey, it's a Star Trek reunion! Nemroy, Stewart, and Goldberg!

  • is that the kid from home alone?

  • @999museftw Yeah.

  • man its been a long time since I seen "The Pagemaster"

  • This is one of my favorite animated movies

  • All I remembered about this movie is books. If you asked me what the plot of it was, or what characters were in it I'd simply reply "books".

  • Evil reading rainbow, hell yeah! XD

  • I didn't realize I actually saw this movie before until I saw the pirate book and remembered him.

  • @Ahmed176E That Funny

  • I love how adventures voice changes.. as in they changed the voice actor a few times thats cause they edited out the "naughty" lines that were in the movie originally. Then when they wanted a re-dub PS was busy so they got a sound-a-like. Sorta... LAME

  • I still have this. I enjoy it, though I will admit, it's nowhere near as good as I remember it. It's OK, I think it's moreso supposed to get kids interested in the characters so they'll want to learn exactly who they are.

I always loved it though for the animation and the design. It's just a visual pleaser to me, eye candy.

  • CULKIN

    Y U NO DIE? ლ(ಠ益ಠლ

  • Y U NO DIE CULKIN D:<

  • I loved this movie, and nothing can change my opinion.

  • TAKE A LOOK!!!

    ITS IN A BOOK!!!!

    REEEEEAAAADDDINGGGG RAAAAIIIINNNBOOOWWWWWWWWW!!!!

  • What kind of child lives by statistics?! That's like an issue unsecure middle-aged men might have, not a freaking child.

  • did i just watch a review?

  • The adventure book was Patrick Stewart? o.0

  • Did anyone else watch this because you played the Saga Genesis game that came out for it?

  • Gotta love Nostalgia Critic's funny facial expressions when he's creeped out. :)

  • Zuul motherfucker! Zuul! I lol'ed

  • ....That was a long commercial just to get to the cards...

  • Old Guy: Horror... Wretched monsters!, graveyards!!

    Kid: I NEED AN ADULT!!!!

Old Man: I AM AN ADULT!!!!!

  • oh god... you are terribly annoying

  • They made us watch this movie in day care...

  • It's true, I saw this movie as a kid and only vaguely remember it now...

  • What Sonic said... sounded SOOOOOOOOOOOO wrong XD (probably it's proposital, but...jesus XD)

    cough-goodtoknowpeoplefrom80-90'swantedtoavoidthepedophileactions,butgoodlord-cough

  • oh, c'moooon, Pagemaster was my childhood, and I loved it so much ! 0^0

  • LMAO @ Evil Opening to Reading Rainbow....

  • those aren't fairies, they are more likely will-o-wisps, on that note RUN

  • Half of these voice actors came from the

    sci-fi section.

  • "I need an adult!"

    He IS an adult!

  • I don't know. I actually loved "The Pagemaster." :P

  • @monny287 I loved this movie, too. Especially when I had the book Polly Pocket toys with the fairy worlds inside. I used to imagine that the toys came to life like in this movie. These were whimsical days.

  • @monny287 We're not alone, though we are low in number (I remember when it came out, and ALL my friends despised it; I had to watch it by myself, that or risk being social pariah and no kid wants that).

Granted, if one didn't see this as a kid, I can understand the hatred. Lets face it: as kids we can see past the glaringly shitty story/plot/acting and be entertained by a whole other realm of things, but through an adult's critical eye this is one of the most dull movies ever produced.

  • I loved this movie, still do

  • I don't care what Doug says, i still like this movie.

  • Damn, I loved this movie when I was little. I should go see it again, now that I think about it.

  • the movie could have been worse. it could of been dragonball evolution

  • @jaredbrobb1996 or battlefield earth

  • @jaredbrobb1996 It could've been a "Mermaid Melody" fandub.

  • @jaredbrobb1996 or the last airbender movie.

  • @jaredbrobb1996 it was goddamn horrible compared to the manga and anime

  • Did this movie just make Christopher Lloyd into a pedo? Dammit, i actually kinda liked this movie until that disturbing scene

  • i like this movie to.why is nostalgia critic calling this a bad movie

  • HEY I LIKE THIS MOVIE!

  • Lol this film is so amazing

  • Kentucky fried Colkin xD

  • To me it seemed more like a movie for those who already read a lot. Thing is though I read all of the story's it showed after I saw this. I would explain more but I need to watch this movie again.

  • I actually enjoyed this movie full heartedly.

  • Anyone going to Thai Commercial after?

  • My Girlfriends name is Paige !!! i fucking HATE the movie!

  • I don't remember ever seing this all the way through as a kid.

  • 4:02 Looks more like Trotsky

  • 1:57 Richard Tyler: A young boy who seems to have fear of everything and runs his life based on safety statistics.

  • So if I read books, I'll have unwarranted courage.

  • I kinda like this when I was little :/

  • I actually used to love this movie

  • I totally forgot that piece of shit oO it's awesome, how the brain works...

  • Thank you Nostalgia Critic for reminding me the name of that movie I was forced to watch in 4th grade.

  • It's sad when the review of the crappy movie is more memorable than the movie itself

  • the nostalgia critic needs to review the muppet movie.

  • Book:ZOOL MUTHAFUC-

    Me:(closes book)

    Book:HEY

  • ZUUUUUUUULLLL MOTHERFUCKER ZUUUUUUUUULLLLLL!!!!!!

  • 10:17 he said dick

  • He really reminds me of a jim carrey sort of character.. my opinion though of course!

  • OMG that is the smart ass kid from home alone!

  • Old Creepy Guy: Oh, look a little girl! YOU ARE LOOKING FOR ADVENTURE!

Mother of Little Girl: Stop it, you're scaring the little girl!

Old Creepy Guy: SCARING THE LITTLE GIRL?

  • @LetsPlayGuy12 nice langoliers review refference.

  • 4:03 OMG it's I.M. Meen!

  • I actually liked this as a kid. It's what got me to want to make movies.

    I know it's strange, but... ...that's true. :\

  • why does he bash on the nutcracker. i had to watch it for my 8th grade music class, and I loved him as the nutcracker prince! he didn't speak and i think he was a good actor (it might also help that I love the nutcracker but that's besides the point)

  • it turns out im very loopy

  • It's funny he said that about Stephen King, because his drama is better than his horror. Ha! Good review, Critic.

  • SPACEBALLS!!!

  • 10:23 - the "WTF?" face :)

  • Comment removed

  • His go-T is bigger than N.C.'s

  • I wish the movie featured a graphic novel/manga section

  • I agree with him on how it's not that memorable...as I've forgotten about it multiple times...but I still do like the movie, and enjoy it whenever I watch it. <3

  • eeeeeeeeeee! its hank from 7th heaven!

  • i loved that movie!!!!

  • mm nice ass.

  • I only watched it because I was already a massive bookworm who took delight from pointing out the various literary figures I was familiar with... And because I was already a fan of the book. Which proves that the book, with it's gorgeous two-page paintings depicting the realms as landscapes built from books, is better than the half-assed animated feature.

  • I loved this movie as a kid!

  • @Beeimus Same here.

  • ZUUL MUTHAFUCKA ZUUUUUUL!

  • i remembered pagemaster i do recall it was kinda boring as i always fast forward (on vhs) to the cartoon part as i did not give a fuck about the live action parts. also i remember really loving the book characters especially the pirate book. too much nostalgia is rushing through me atm lol

  • @comedypros same here, always hated the live action parts

  • Comment removed

  • funny, recently for the life of me I couldn't remember the name of this movie, I only remembered it had a pirate Patrick Stuart book

  • tunnel from bttf part 2 and chrisptopr loylld

  • A teacher actually made us watch this in school

  • @1serious0mfr me too! it was so lame!

  • @GreyPikmin334 even weirder is i actually own the P.O.S!

  • @1serious0mfr I WISH we could have done that!!

  • @1serious0mfr Was it cameron Diaz? LOL!

  • @1serious0mfr I think most kids had to watch this movie in school. Awful. I remember being bored to tears any time a teacher put this on, and it CERTAINLY didn't get me stoked on reading. Everyone was pushing the "timeless classics" that I could never get into... Wasn't until I discovered authors like Chuck Palahniuk and James Frey that I got into reading.

  • @1serious0mfr meh i still liked it.

  • @1serious0mfr So it wasn't just my teacher...

  • @123Arkham

    Same.

  • @1serious0mfr my school too

  • LOL I remember watching this movie now.

  • I saw this as a stupid kid, liked it cause I was to stupid to know not to, and it didn't make me read more. Now the Hitchhiker's Guide is a different story.

  • 09:00 Hohoho. You got me.I was actually trying to give you acid. For as it turns out I'm quite loopy.WHINNIE!!!!!

  • This is one of the only video maker that actually makes me laugh on youtube

  • once at a party i wanted to ask my mom if there were such things as white whales like moby dick. what came out was "is there such things as white dicks?"

  • 4:40 I am an adult.

  • I remember not remembering this movie too. I think I may have fell asleep seeing it in theatres.

  • Huh. I thought they were flying, glow in the dark vibrators...

  • so was "horrer" voiced by some one from star trek too?

  • Actually from the clips he shows it seems like a good children's movie. But I don't know, I think I only saw it once as a kid.

  • I never saw this so I really have no say: but as far as the concept goes, it seems interesting

  • THUS I SHALL THROW THEE THY SPEAAAAAAAR-oh-shit-that-did-nothing! *NOM*

  • lol silver's voiced by Jim Cummings. He sure does a lot of voice acting.

  • I remember when this came out when I was a kid. I saw the trailers and was like, "M'eh!"

After school one day, my mum took me to my local video store and the lady who ran it said, "We've got Pagemaster in! You'll like it 'cause it's a cartoon!" To which I replied, "No I want to watch The Mask!"

Wow! I was smarter than a grown up at that point in my childhood!

  • Less than 2 minutes in to this review, and I'm already impressed. How the HELL does he manage to clap that fast? Go ahead and try to keep up... somewhere around 1:38 in, I think.

  • I actually liked this film as a kid but I was very young last i saw it, it did make me want to look out for some of these famous characters from books and I even read the likes of Dr Jekyl and Mr Hyde, Dracula, Treasure island as I got older barely remembering the movie now. If I watched it now I'd probably agree it's not that great but as a kid a lot of things were entertaining even if they didn't seem it.

  • I dunno... As a kid, it got me excited to read. I'm an avid reader.

But God damn it all, that scene where Rich gets eaten by the awesome-looking dragon... That gave me nightmares. The next ten years, I slept under a pile of stuffed animals so that the dragon would eat them first.

OH, THE SIMPLE LOGIC OF CHILDHOOD.

  • @KagoraeZin you want simple logic? here: a powerful force created the universe, elephants are a powerful force, therefor, elephants created the universe

  • @KagoraeZin LOL Funny!

  • I LOVED THIS MOVIE.... the funny part is that I didn't remember it at all lol

  • ZUEL MOTHAFUCKA ZuuuuuEEllllL

    Reminds me of ghostbusters

  • @ThePurplecakes good for you may the shwarts be with you

  • I love pagemaster

  • I fucking love The Pagemaster.

  • Finally! The Critic actually made note of a certain Sonic Sez moment! Why he couldn't fit that in his Sonic The Hedgehog review is beyond me.

  • Man, Santa Christ and Super Mega Death Christ are so overpowered in that card game. -_-

  • 3:15 The dad is so disappointed that his son is an asshole.

  • there are people who do not like old movies these people did not see spaceballs thumbs up if you agree

  • 3:00, yeah cause it's not like you just dropped that on him or anything

  • the movie is still better than twilight

  • It was NOT an attempt to get kids to read more!!. It's about boy FACING HIS FEARS!!!!!

  • Haha, Sonic sez!

    Says*

  • After watching this, I still love The Pagemaster. ^_^

There are two songs from the film that I really loved. I still remember watching this when I was 3 or 4.:)

  • "ZUUL, ZUUL MUTHAFUCKA, ZUUL." LOL

  • Aww, I used to love the Pagemaster when I was little, but I am a writter, so maybe it works differently for me. I don't know lol.

  • He forgot about the nails. Didn't he need the nails to finish the treehouse?

  • @wotld2006 TM1: OMG xD

  • TM1: Thumbs up if you watched the full clip from Sonic Says!

  • Comment removed

  • @OneTwoTiramisu Lol him doing that got me to look up all the sonic says on YouTube and watched them all

  • @wotldthe2006 OMG xD
