If the FIA want to save money as they claim this is realy for. Instead giving everyone the same engines they get rid of the realy pricey metals. But i think the hole save money idear is just a cover up for what there realy trying to do. I think there realy just trying to slow down the car, take control of there speed. This could also be a reason why they didnt talk to the teams first.

Hakkinen WAS better than DC. He delivered for McLaren and DC didn't. There's no such thing as common friends in formula 1, only common goals. It's also no coincidence that Hakkinen had more fans than DC, because he could emotionally satisfy them, just as Schumacher could and Lewis/Fernando/Kimi can today.

Fiddling with the engine rules is like fiddling with your best mate's younger sister....probably why Mr. Mosely is so attracted to it! Don't worry about standardizing engines, tyres etc. all you have to do is freeze the tech regulations for 10 years and the smaller teams will eventually reach the "ceiling" the regulations allow & racing will be closer.

I noted that the FIA stress they offered 3 options to the teams after Ferrari showed their hand.

Let me see ... TWO of those options is a standard engine and that's ridicious. So they are basically saying take the 3rd option which is - "supply a customer engine for less than 5 million euros per season".

This 3rd option sounds reasonable to me but WHY do the FIA go about this process like a bunch of tools?!? (Pep)

exactly what i thought when i heard of all this fuss... its just the way FIA starts negotiations.. i read that FOTA proposed customer power train supplies for 10M euro/season but FIA want that to be 5M euro/season so i think it will end up somewhere in between... FIA would try to pull as much compromise as possible from the manufacturers... i would think smart way would have been to come up with proposals to attract as many manufacturers as possible but probably thats not how FIA is thinking

That's what will happen, agreement to have Ferrari or Mercedes supply customer engines to anyone who wants them.

I understand why so many people are against it, but the financial situation for the world is far far more grim than any would imagine. Luckily for us Bernie himself has some billions and knows how bad the future is.

Picture oil running out, along with most commonly used metals. Along with that, double the population we have now. The only thing I see is poverty.

i would think they should have a spending budget ( with some kind of monitoring to ensure its being followed) and let the teams spend the money the way they want.. either engine development, aero, driver salaries etc...

i feel FIA have "created" all this engine standardization fuss... they knew they were gonna piss off manufacturers but i think there is more to it... FIA/FOM are trying to twist the arms of manufacturers to get good deals for independents and this is a classic negotiating way of FIA/FOM...

I can save $ for Bernie & Max, in USA we have many standard engines- IRL cars. What fools they are, pissin off the manufactures and fan base. Lets cut bernie & max's saleries, get rid of all the circut tracks and get back to F1 racing. No N. American racing = great % loss of fan base & who knows about manufacturing??? If u can't go to it, see it, people look for other forms of racing??? How much are they willing to lose. Are we heading for watching F1 racing in simulators?!?!?!

Turbo race engines save money on R&D, are easy to regulate Bhp and are better on fuel consuption at high ouput. all = Savings!

True, but some prick at the FIA would argue that certain circuits couldn't run turbos due to safety issues! Turbo charged V10's, fair enough, but what about V8's with a small turbo? - Max

On the subject of engines. To me it smacks of throwing the baby out with the bath water only to fill the tub afresh with an adopted child. Why would Max and Bernie turn their backs on the manufacturers and fans? Because they are looking to whole new generation of F1 enthusiasts/particpants. Unfortunately I won't be amongst them.

if they want to cut costs they shouldn't touch the engines.

what they should do is:

- ban testing and make fridays before the race the only test day

- standardize aerodinamics more and limit the amount of time a team can spend in the wind tunnel

- allow only 4 sets of tires per weekend

- put a pay cap on driver's salaries

- add more races(like in north america)

There is no doubt something like this has to be done. Good suggestions! I like the fact that aero is controlled but not standardised ... I wouldn't like them to standardise aero anymore.

Either way, if they don't do something then teams will just keep going and going and going....

I seriosly dont think he is treated differently, lewis and Heikki are really good mates and Im sure Lewis will give him tips and stuff, but then again ya cant teach natural talent, I think he`s just a bit baffled as to how Lewis is so much quicker, its obvious he gonna feel like crap. Lewis has been nurtured by Mclaren most of his career but he even did that himself, He asked Ron for his number, credit to him for that, Now people envy him big time.Imagine F1 again without Lewis, No Thanks !!

i do think that Heiki is always heavily fueled in Q3 and I do remember he out qualified Lewis in few races (with more fuel) and left Lewis stunned...

i dont think Heiki can do much when the team is not with him... although in the last race in brazil uncle Ron would want Heiki to win or be on the podium if Mclaren are to clinch the WCC

Im so with you guys about the engines! on the heikki subject after seeing how Alonso was treated last year why the hell did kovo think he had a sniff at win never mind being equal to lewis, it needed a goon to fill the alonso gap at mclaren and they got one!

We all know its crap including the FIA. However we are all talking about it which is good publicity for them. There is no way they will implement this, but its got the negotiations on the table. As for Heikki, he needs to shut up and prove his worth as he has been very poor and there are drivers out there who could do a much better job. Lets hope Mclaren short fill him this week and let him go for the win. My guess is that he will never do it as although he is a nice guy, he aint good enough.

Most have it now and again but Heikki just seems too nice and I dont think he could handle the races the big guns have been thru, He would much rather bury his head in the bloomin gravel pit than tussle with someone, he was going ok in Spa till he took out Webber was it with the silliest of moves, but I do like the lad and wouldnt be dissappointed if he stayed at Mclaren, HAWAY LEWIS !!!!

cant friggin wait guys, first to comment, wicked, once agiain fantastic vid fellas, Listen can anyone at all recall Heikki being anywhere near the pace of Lewis, not once, so that means he is saying at every single race this season hes been on a worse strategy, or lets say heavier fuel loads or wrong tyres, B###OKS, Heikki is a really nice kid but I just dont think he has that rawness about him, Massa has it sometimes, Alonso is just ICE cool and even tho I hate that Eyebrow man he 1 of the best
