In the Director's Cut, it actually shows him killing everyone. And it was more creepy and scary how he realized he just killed a room full of people. I highly recommend the Director's cut.

@IceBreaker1881 It's a symbol of how he's becoming more detached from his humanity as time goes on. If you string together his scenes in chronological order you can see him (mostly) wearing fewer and fewer clothes. I like to think that it's a reference to the adam and eve tale, where once they gain knowledge they lose their innocence and cover their shame. Whereas knowledge and power causes Dr Manhattan to become less human, and less concerned with human concepts of shame or morality.

@Larrylarp also, we all know that movies are often times changed to fit the screen and what the directors vision conveys. So to me (as with thousands of others) I DO believe in this movie that Dr. Manhattan killed those people in the room, and then left for mars, at the same moment.

we never saw any shot of people in the parking lot in the film..

and we DID see Dr. Manhattan killing the vietnamese in vietnam in a similar manner.

There were burning embers floating in the empty room. Its obvious.

He obviously didn't kill them because they usually turn to mush than disappear... but he may of teleported them to the sun for all we know. Unless someone who read the comic can clarify. It probably would of been a bigger deal if they were killed though
