"Appetite for Destruction" was released on July 21st 1987. I was 7 years old. My two older sisters were in to the whole music scene back then. I first heard and saw them on TV in the Spring of 88 (The Ritz Gig). They were so different from any band during that time. They were dangerous and exciting. I still have my original cassette of AFD from June of 1988, and the original cover "rape scene" LP (which was my sisters) still wrapped. It is now framed on my wall with an autograph pic of Slash.

It's difficult to find anyone between the ages of 25 and 45 who doesn't have this album. EVERYONE had this album. My older brother got the album when it came out, and even though I shared a bedroom with him, I had my own copy, and so did my sister (who never listened to much heavy stuff). GnR managed to capture something that struck everyone from true heavy metal fans to casual rock listeners.

Really love this song. Brings back good memories of seeing them live at the Monsters of Rock at Donnington Park in the UK. Almost got crushed in the crowd surge (unfortunately two guys did and were killed) but what a day! Great times for music, the late eighties!
