@FU0C0 yes thats a good question, a tkd fighter feels different at k-1 fight maybe he is more sure with that kicks thats why he didnt use back kicks as a counter you need more space for that kicks but the bigest problem is that you cant watch behind you he wouldnt have this problem in a tkd fight

I won't deny that the japanese are known for favoring their own fighters but seriously guys! Look at it from a judging persepctive why dont ya? It's not all about the big reverse turn kick dragon spins or whatever the hell they're called. The fact is that they rarely landed. Almost every time Masato didn't get out of the way, he blocked it and that means that it doesn't score whereas Masato consistently scored with leg kicks and boxing.

thats traditional tkd isn't effective enough for complete stand up. it's limited but the limitation allows a higher level of kicking which is useful. tkd is strong but it just needs some more punching.
yep perfect combination for fighting. i take tkd and i know it's just not enough especially against top notch fighters, cause it specializes in only one area of fighting.

Well all you need to do is condition the legs and train for low kicks. There are aspects of TKD that could give trouble to MT fighters. TKD's kicking range is much longer that MT, which is great for the outside.
Serkan is an amazing talent, however flawed. Things he could work on in his career is strengthening his legs, defense and offense for low kicks, learn more hand combos, and especially learn to mentally relax and not go at a sprint only to gas later in the fight.
Serkan actually won the match because he got more clear points. Masato did only low kicks which looked more effective because of Serkan's avoiding action. Serkan also did many clear low kicks. Masato maybe was better at low kicks. But all together, Serkan got more clear points. Masato won the match because of home advantage. English speaking commentator said to Masato at the end of the match "It's too late." What does it mean???

Most of the roundhouses never landed. He's got a good roundhouse but he needs to not use it less often. Jadamba is much better at disguising his roundhouse than Yilmaz; and Drago is even better.

Yilmaz is areal tae-kwon-do fighter and he should have done some lowkick(and block) training in holland(cuz they are the best) before he started with k-1.
It is spectacular what he does with his legs but u cant (very hard to) win k-1 matches with only Taek-won-do skills(wich he is great at).
Dont know his age or if he returns to k-1 but i liked to watch him fight, and i wish to c some more....
It looked as if Yilmaz could have used more of his boxing skills, even if his kicks were devastating, especially with an experienced bobber/weaver like Masato.
IMO serkan yilmaz uses too much power in his kicks, and while when it lands its devastating with an opponent like masato who dodges and weaves thru attacks, will be countered.
Serkan Yilmaz is one bad ass dude. I have been practicing Tae Kwon Do for almost 15 years and he is honestly one of best kick boxing fighters ive see. The reason i say this is because is isnt just the standard punchs and round house kicks he mixes it up. I think if he used a lil more flash steping he would destory all. Anyways he won this fight hands down but wat do they say NEVER LEAVE IT IN THE JUDGES HANDS and thats wat happens!
masato won this fight, he lands at least a dozen leg kicks, they hurt yilmaz, u see the bruising when they showed the close up. besides yilmaz's K1 career lasted only a year and he only won 3 out of 10 fights. his style is too flashy as it is, not basic enough
I`d be hell of a fighter if only I had a, from 1 to 10% of a skill of ether of those two .. but it takes so long to put head gear on, shinpads and a rest of it 4 training.. so I`ll just keep on typing..

Well, there is a timer. And they stop fighting when the bell goes. Does that ever happen in a real "fight"? I don't doubt that if Yilmaz landed one of those kicks, Masato would be going down and if there was no time limit, it'd be up to the fittest, or the lucky. I stand by what I say. this was a great fight, very even but I think that masato deserved to win even though I think that yilmaz could have won this fight if he had stuck to his spinning kicks and powerful punches. But then again Masato is a very good fighter so I think he showed that he was better.

Bruce Lee once taught, "If the opponent has you in submission what do you do? ... You bite." When your life is under threat, you'll quickly forget about pride and the way of the warrior. In a fight, you've gotta think survival. Plus it'd be silly to try eye gouging and a fish hook with gloves...

If you think about it big kicks are harder to hit and harder to set up. which means it requires more skill. If points are based on skill then obviously more points should go towards bigger kicks. If K-1 doesn't acknowledge this then there will be no room for people like Yilmaz. That's why only kicks requiring little skill will be seen in K-1 which is stupid. K-1 needs to change to make room for skill. K-1 need to change for people like Yilmaz who used great skill to perform amazing kicks.
yilmaz's kicks were too wild, too telegraphed, masato used basic kicks to destroy yilmaz's lead leg. Yilmaz's spinning back kicks didnt hurt masato at all. they just pushed him. Yilmaz was too flashy, masato's style is superior

Most of the roundhouses never landed. He's got a good roundhouse but he needs to not use it less often. Jadamba is much better at disguising his roundhouse than Yilmaz; and Drago is even better.

Yilmaz is areal tae-kwon-do fighter and he should have done some lowkick(and block) training in holland(cuz they are the best) before he started with k-1.
It is spectacular what he does with his legs but u cant (very hard to) win k-1 matches with only Taek-won-do skills(wich he is great at).
Dont know his age or if he returns to k-1 but i liked to watch him fight, and i wish to c some more....

Serkan Yilmaz is one bad ass dude. I have been practicing Tae Kwon Do for almost 15 years and he is honestly one of best kick boxing fighters ive see. The reason i say this is because is isnt just the standard punchs and round house kicks he mixes it up. I think if he used a lil more flash steping he would destory all. Anyways he won this fight hands down but wat do they say NEVER LEAVE IT IN THE JUDGES HANDS and thats wat happens!

masato won this fight, he lands at least a dozen leg kicks, they hurt yilmaz, u see the bruising when they showed the close up. besides yilmaz's K1 career lasted only a year and he only won 3 out of 10 fights. his style is too flashy as it is, not basic enough

Well, there is a timer. And they stop fighting when the bell goes. Does that ever happen in a real "fight"? I don't doubt that if Yilmaz landed one of those kicks, Masato would be going down and if there was no time limit, it'd be up to the fittest, or the lucky. I stand by what I say. this was a great fight, very even but I think that masato deserved to win even though I think that yilmaz could have won this fight if he had stuck to his spinning kicks and powerful punches. But then again Masato is a very good fighter so I think he showed that he was better.

hmm, seems to me Yilmaz got more power kicks in, but Masato got more shots in. All those low kicks got him a lot of points. Based on that, Masato rightfully won this fight.
BUt damn, dat was a great match. Good to see a TKD practitioner in a fight league doin well, considering how most of dem can't seem to adjust from TKD competition rules (no punches to head, etc).

All credit to both fighters, but Serkan had that one won. Bias Japanese judges is why Masato won. Its clear cut, Yilmaz was dictating the pace of the fight, and landing his big 'beautiful' powerful shots with ease. N am reading up alot of people runnig their mouth about 'desperate' kicks, they are highly skillful, very powerfull TKD kicks, and extremely difficult to execute! thats his style of fighting, how many fighters can do what Yilmaz does in the ring? Not many, so stop chatting shit

If it was a real fight, all they'd have to do is land a soft punch to the balls then while they're withering around a stomp to the throat would k.o the opponent permanently.
This is a game and these matches have rules. The rules are the same no matter where the matches are held and whoever judges them. Masato played better and he won. Get over it KammiM.

Wow. I never knew that. I know the balls is the hardest target, but the stomach is pretty hard too, and they were landing them. Bruce Lee once taught, "If the opponent has you in submission what do you do? ... You bite." When your life is under threat, you'll quickly forget about pride and the way of the warrior. In a fight, you've gotta think survival. Plus it'd be silly to try eye gouging and a fish hook with gloves...

If you think about it big kicks are harder to hit and harder to set up. which means it requires more skill. If points are based on skill then obviously more points should go towards bigger kicks. If K-1 doesn't acknowledge this then there will be no room for people like Yilmaz. That's why only kicks requiring little skill will be seen in K-1 which is stupid. K-1 needs to change to make room for skill. K-1 need to change for people like Yilmaz who used great skill to perform amazing kicks.

yilmaz's kicks were too wild, too telegraphed, masato used basic kicks to destroy yilmaz's lead leg. Yilmaz's spinning back kicks didnt hurt masato at all. they just pushed him. Yilmaz was too flashy, masato's style is superior
