@Yodovannn actually, if you manage to headbutt him and kill him early on, you can skip the rest of the race. If he missed, then he would've had to do the next two. I tried it myself and killed the rate on the second try without having to do the third race.

so.. wheres the rest of lvl10? i just spent an hour on the 3rd bomb. (save stating of course) since i wasnt able to pass the 3rd bomb yet i cant say how much of the lvl is missing but at least the 2nd and 3rd bomb chases aren't in this vid. disappointing
@therealmechloir my advice would be to keep headbutting him against the wall as you go down. You should be able to get the drop on him on the way down though. I'ma put this bluebehelit guy to shame when I upload my speed run. I am a very skilled battletoad player. It will also be the original version on NES no emulator

There are plenty of moments where you could do it faster. Even after 15 years since I beat this game I remember a couple of them. However, nicely done. One of the hardest game ever and Clinger Winger was my personal hell for a month until I finally beat it.
This game is an excellent example of what the NES was capable of. The graphics and music are just awesome, and the gameplay has tremendous variety. Hard as it is, it never gets boring :D
I own the Genesis version in cartridge form and the NES version as a ROM. No matter what people say, I think the difficulty is the same in both versions, save for the fewer lives given by the NES version.

(i had a friend of mine who could beat the game... he was 11 as me )then i decided to play battletoads again like two years ago 2008, i finally reached the stage i mentioned (where you´re being pursued by the whirlpool ball) but even though i got older and wiser, i still cannot pass that stage... :(

the bosses were always easy. The problem was to get to the bosses. This game made me rage over my NES back then. Try to play this game when your not even 10yo.
What!? I had no idea you could kill that rat in the bomb section. I always went all the way through. As hard as this whole game was, I found the defusing that last bomb as the hardest part of the whole game. The tiniest mistake and that damn toad got slowed down just a bit and boom, dead. The boss of that level wasn´t easy, but it was the last race that just killed me.
I think the level the video starts in is the most dificult level of the game, in a tie with the next level.

He's a bull/minotaur, not a rhino... and he's actually pretty damn easy. Just head butt him then run back until he picks up a bit of speed, then wait until just after he touches the wall and head butt him again, but stand under him. He will start running mid air and if he's moving fast enough will run right over the top of you. Chase him till he touches the other wall and head butt him again. Rinse and repeat.
Man I did all the levels one by one in my childhood. But CLINGER-WINGER was impossible. And it's hard to beat even now with saves. You did it smoothly - it burns man!!.
Why couldn't they have made different difficulties to this game. These levels are badass but were waaaaay waaaaay too hard for the average kid to get to.
My cousin had this game when I was a kid, he was younger than me and use to show me his gameplay in various games, sometimes loosing one life in the whole game, same this with megaman and castlevania series... he was good... and now he is a doctor..
what an absurd statement, clinger winger is one of the easiest stages tbh. all u have to do is time the corners right... me and my friend just recorded a realtime co-op run through this game and we'll upload it this week, you'll see us having no trouble with that stage whatsoever (ps pal version = both players can control).
the hardest stages are most likely the sewer stage and the last one (ESPECIALLY the last one in co-op mode)
I've never played this game, so tell me what is so hard with the clinger winger stage? Seems like you just have to go straight on the same track all the way til the boss.
We you have to hit the direction on you dpad for each turn. if you are slow, you stop until the right direction is pressed. Stopping is a no-no since the boss is faster than you and the only way you have to gain ground is quick turning. not impossible but definitely not a first try kind of level.
It'll never be on the Wii's Virtual Console, because Rare is owned by Microsoft now. They're the ones who made Battletoads. So if it ever gets released on anything it'll only be 360 exclusive.

if you can beat this game you can beat any game on the planet. as a reward for beating this nearly impossible game they should have at least let you see the dark queen naked back in the day.
You are a Battletoads King, my man. This is simply unbelievable. The furthest I ever got was to the level after the rat race with the bomb where that big glowing spiral chases you. And I had like 2 lives left so I had no idea what I was doing lol. And you're right, the key to this game is memorization and the patience to sit through numerous "Game Over" screens until you wanna die for real.
absolutely agreed. nothing is impossible in life, and I'm sure that if I had kept the game for 1 or 2 more weeks I would have probably finished it. It's a matter of perseverance and dedication, because from level 3 and on the hearts where pretty much useless anything you touched killed you.

its probobly like the one broken roller coaster ride in battletoad in battlemaniacs same vehicle but ya gotta drive it by pressing the direction u have to move to.

You are a Battletoads King, my man. This is simply unbelievable. The furthest I ever got was to the level after the rat race with the bomb where that big glowing spiral chases you. And I had like 2 lives left so I had no idea what I was doing lol. And you're right, the key to this game is memorization and the patience to sit through numerous "Game Over" screens until you wanna die for real.

absolutely agreed. nothing is impossible in life, and I'm sure that if I had kept the game for 1 or 2 more weeks I would have probably finished it. It's a matter of perseverance and dedication, because from level 3 and on the hearts where pretty much useless anything you touched killed you.
