  • the legendary superchrgered car

  • FACIL

  • I remember back in the early 60 lefty muterbock lived in pico reveria,ca and i in santa fe springs,Lefty ran a dual engine s/b and i drove for US speed and sports in norwalk we ran a the Beach as our home track, those were good days, anyhow I ran my single enging with a dual engine car at the nostalga reunion in 1992 or 3 at bakerfield and i think is was with the fright train i remember the tv camera comming down over my car and I got so intrans in watching them I almost forgot to stage, lol.

  • lol is that mustard he is spraying in the blower

  • Did Goob Tuller drive The Train at some point?

  • There are a few little differences in the restored version- the Moroso stamped valve covers on this one weren't around in the 60's either, but all in all, they captured what the car was all about in its heyday. I just wish there was a venue for cars like this- or exact reproductions to make even 1/8 mile exhibition runs. The "nostalgia" stuff just doesn't scratch the same itch.

  • I remember this dragster from my childhood...what happened to the mailboxes that were the original scoops...

  • Your uncle and aunt are good friends. Just saw Bob at our Road Kings meeting last week. By the way, the PA announcer in the background is Me.

  • A great friend of mine drove The Train as well....Roy "Goober" Tuller......

  • I lived on Lyceum and I spent a lot of time on Alla Road watching John work on the "Freight Train" in his folks garage. I still get a thrill looking at pics and videos of it and I am 67.

  • Must feel crazy having the entire car in front like that.

  • 16 cylinders and 728 cubic inches

  • I was at the July 1967 PDA meet at Lions Drag Strip when the "Train" ran 7.31 and just blew away the AA/GD competition that night. Back in those days the single engine Chrysler gassers would get out early on the Train but @ about 1,000 Bob Muravez (aka Floyd Jr.) would blow his horn and just drive around them. My all-time favorite Chevy powered dragster ~ back in the day we had little to cheer about in AA/FD but we had the Train in AA/GD! The NHRA did away with AA/GD many years ago.

  • John Peters and Sam Davis are the SHIT!!!

  • good thing those are small blocks!!

  • when he revs that beast it shakes the whole car sideways! dude!

  • still one of my favorite cars from that era!

  • I saw The Freight Train at Irwindale Raceway Ca. in 1968. Thanks for the video. Brings back memories.

  • My great uncle drove this car :) Floyd Lippencotte, Jr aka Bob Muravez

  • Very cool! I know he was driving the Western Hoist car up until a couple of years ago. I hope to see him in the driver's seat again sometime.

  • I know your great uncle. Im friends with Mike Muravez. Does he still race?

  • listen to that beast. that car is the king! the freight train is the dragster i saw in HRM when i was 12. its the car that started my lust for the thrill of drag racing. (and the winged express, Landy's dodges, hemi under glass, Jungle Jim.....too much too list) thank you.
