Tennessee Ernie Ford made more money from singing Gospel than anything else. He was like a friend to all of us. A man of great faith and gentleness, how we miss him. My German Mother and her family lost it all in the War, yet she never complained. Jesus had restored her many times over. Her faith was amazing, she comes to life everytime I hear this tune, one of her favorites. God bless My Mom, Mr. Ford, and most of all The Lord God of Israel. Thanks for this video....Gianni
I had no idea that Ernie Ford had such a rich voice! This is beautiful. I've been looking for a version to add to my favorites list, and I've finally found it.
Thanks for posting it. This is one of my absolute favorites, and after 40 years, it still makes me cry.
What a grand carol. My mother always said it was Ernie Ford's finest Christmas song, and she was a tremendous fan. Many Sundays she played his hymns and spirituals, whether we had been to church in the morning or not. haven't found this song on CD, but would love to. glad it's up here at least. Well done.
@musicmandon1 This was a favorite song we originially heard thru the composer of the music Al Burt. He used to attend the same Church in Studio City. We heard an entire concert as kids during his memorial. The Star Carol is one of my favorites!
Would it be possible to show this video at my church before our children's Christmas Pageant? It is entitled, "Around the World," and we are emphasizing how Christmas is celebrated all around the world by many peoples.
Yes. I asked permission of Jeffery Buckner Ford to use this clip of his father for church services. I used it last Christmas Eve. I would appreciate it if you acknowledged that and gave me credit for putting the video together. Thanks for asking.
You are so right about "Tennessee" Ernie Ford. He really had a beautiful voice.
I have the original album that Ernie Ford did, "The Star Carol" on which this song was included. My mother always played it at Christmas. This is such a sweet yet haunting song. Thanks for posting it.
Dear Alfred,
May you be resting in peace, your music is universal and timeless.
As an American living in Asia 40 years I can relate deeply with this carol.
I'll never forget one Christmas years ago in a Ginza Dept. store window there was Santa,
on a cross. MerryChristmas! cliff in tokyo

It is my pleasure to share this video. I have always loved this Alfred Burt/Wihla Hutson song, and no one sang it better than Ernie Ford.
