The UK radio stations are too commercialized always have been half the bands I like are rarely played on the radio, most decent bands don't get much if any airplay..
I went on to iTunes to buy the single, and I saw it there- but it was recorded by everyone else in the world EXCEPT the group you call "The Zimmers". I have seen it on YouTube, and enjoy it. I wanted to support the effort, but am stymied over here in the USA.
I loved that song. My Generation was always one of my favourite songs of all time and The Zimmers did such an excellent job covering it. Really odd that the UK hasn't played it much if at all on the radio.

The Zimmers have been covered by BBC news and several other TV slots! Well done everyone involved. We need a John Peel equivalent to give it some air time. Not withstanding that, an entry in the forties and going up to the twenties is phenominal in present pop charts! Many current groups would be envious.
Anyway Peter, let the buzz die down and go back to doing grandad videos.
Doing the grandad videos is what everyone respects you for. That alone has probably increased the respect of younger people for older people in general. Isn't that the aim of the Zimmers also. So you started it all in the first place on Youtube.
Don't worry about the radio stations Peter, they don't play anything that isn't mainstream trash. I remember when a rock band I used to like (called 'HIM') got to No.9 in the Charts and I heard it being played ONCE... simply because it wasn't the talentless commercial trash the listeners were accustomed to.
Haha maybe, though I did like them once, but that's besides the point. My point was, the major radio stations will only play really commercial well-known rubbish, it's rare they play anything rock-wise beyond the repetitive indie junk that all sounds the same, ignoring the fact that enough people obviously like a record to have it get in the charts.
We can't buy The Zimmers "My Generation" through the iTunes USA store yet but you can make a request on the internet at the apple site under itunes requests. If they get enough requests maybe....
I sent an email to BBC radio Cleveland before the song was actually released telling them about The Zimmers & the song and John Foster, who has a show between 1 & 4pm, played the song on air from the internet site although I must agree that's the only time I have heard it on radio. Nevertheless, it's a great achievement & congratulations all round!!!
ps. There is too much age discrimination in the uk young folk sort it out!!
I'm not in the UK, but would it perhaps help if people phoned the UK radio stations and requested that My Generation be placed on the Stations' Play List? A phone and letter campaign sometimes can be effective.

Why not utilize a little bit of your celeb status to get in contact with Sir Elton and Sir Paul. Maybe they can also help get it playing on the UK radio. They appear to like a worthy cause occasionally. No harm in trying it...

The Zimmers have been covered by BBC news and several other TV slots! Well done everyone involved. We need a John Peel equivalent to give it some air time. Not withstanding that, an entry in the forties and going up to the twenties is phenominal in present pop charts! Many current groups would be envious.
Anyway Peter, let the buzz die down and go back to doing grandad videos.

Doing the grandad videos is what everyone respects you for. That alone has probably increased the respect of younger people for older people in general. Isn't that the aim of the Zimmers also. So you started it all in the first place on Youtube.

Don't worry about the radio stations Peter, they don't play anything that isn't mainstream trash. I remember when a rock band I used to like (called 'HIM') got to No.9 in the Charts and I heard it being played ONCE... simply because it wasn't the talentless commercial trash the listeners were accustomed to.

Haha maybe, though I did like them once, but that's besides the point. My point was, the major radio stations will only play really commercial well-known rubbish, it's rare they play anything rock-wise beyond the repetitive indie junk that all sounds the same, ignoring the fact that enough people obviously like a record to have it get in the charts.

Well, the Zimmers got a mention on 'Have I Got News For You' earlier tonight along with a brief clip of the video.
Some of the comments were a bit harsh, but then that's what you would expect from that programme. But anyway, it's all good publicity.

We can't buy The Zimmers "My Generation" through the iTunes USA store yet but you can make a request on the internet at the apple site under itunes requests. If they get enough requests maybe....

Saw a news blip on MSNBC here in the States about the Zimmers. The Zimmers will be on the Tonight Show with Jay Leno on Tuesday.
This a popular TV program in the USA and should get you some good PR.

I sent an email to BBC radio Cleveland before the song was actually released telling them about The Zimmers & the song and John Foster, who has a show between 1 & 4pm, played the song on air from the internet site although I must agree that's the only time I have heard it on radio. Nevertheless, it's a great achievement & congratulations all round!!!
ps. There is too much age discrimination in the uk young folk sort it out!!

I'm not in the UK, but would it perhaps help if people phoned the UK radio stations and requested that My Generation be placed on the Stations' Play List? A phone and letter campaign sometimes can be effective.

If you made a petition to get the stations to play it, I'm sure all of your fans here on youtube and fans of the Zimmers will all sign. I don't understand why they won't play this, there's much worse already on the airwaves, and they play those songs constantly. Anyway, good luck Peter, I hope all goes well and the song raises a lot of money for the charity.
