Ive been ATC in FSX multiplayer before, and once I had to do everything from Delivery,Ground, Tower to App/Dep. Lol,it was stressful but exciting! And I can't imagine the stress or (I hope) excitement this controller is experiencing! So many planes to vector lol. Btw, I'm starting training in VATSIM now. Wish me luck!

There are about 40 airports with IFR approaches (some extremely busy) in this small airspace, with many times the number of aircraft than years ago, and fewer controllers on the job. JFK is within 15 miles of EWR, LGA, TEB FRG HPN and ISP, BDR, DXR and many more are within 30 miles.

not only ILS, but all IFR approaches, including all kinds of VOR, GPS, NDB's and more than I can post here. JFK has a number of approaches to each runway, and there are eight runways counting the parallel appoaches. LGA and EWR are similar, and we have the dozens of little, but busy, airports in between the big guys. If JFK is on the ILS 13, we have to shut down TEB, and TEB often does almost as much business as the big boys.

By the way, all controllers took a mandatory 2% cut in pay last year, and another each year for the next few years. Additionally, they are denying the controllers the 2.3% annual cost of living raise, which everyone else in Government gets unless they are over the federal pay cap. This forces all senior controllers to retire.

then you have the minor airport in between, these 3 airports are one of the most busiest in the world. Thats all that, continuos traffic in in about 80 miles of airspace. In 400 miles you have LOTS of space to work with, here, you have some many restrictions

Actually, I guarantee this is harder than Australia, nyartcc . org open the SOP, each little white line you see on the screen there is a different restriction of airspace you own. The reason I don't control Newark (5 miles west of JFK) and LGA (5 miles north of JFK) is because no one would be able to, it is an amazing amount of work just to work on sector, in real world, they have 3 different positions for approach in for each JFK LGA EWR,
