When I was a kid, I used to dislike jazz for being annoying background music for classic American cartoons. Only now I realize that jazz is more than just annoying background music for classic American cartoons. In fact, watching classic American cartoons now give me twice the pleasure; that is the pleasure of watching the cartoons itself and the pleasure of listening to the annoying background music we call jazz.
This song holds a lot of memories fro me. If I came in the house after being picked on as a little kid, My mon would put me on the kitchen stool and sing this song to me, This was way back in the late 40's or early 50's. I remember it like yesterday
great voice great arrangement great photos i think i saw my mother in one of the photos. she was a model/movie extra. she worked how conductor bertrand hirsch who was boss/manager and she was his secretary. she appears in a movie clip with lanny ross singing. she played the piano in the scene. nice syncopation. I was over a friends house just last week and he played the Blue Amerole cylinder Edison recording of this song. It was one of the last cylinder recordings made. He actually had two and recently sold one for $4000.00
Wonderful music and especially great pictures. With prohibition still in force you can be sure that coffee wasn't the only beverage in those coffee cups. Proper young ladies...Indeed!
Grzegorz - those ads for coffee are super fun and charmig. It's midnight now - so can't brew me a cup - but in the morning - I will enjoy my coffee and think about those ads. Thans, thanks, thanks!!!!
Life's just not fair: these glamorous ladies not only drank
the best coffees, but smoked Lucky Strikes: which "meant fine tobacco," as the ad went. It think L.S. was the brand those neon lips smoked in a Times Square billboard.

Love the song. G, you made me run to the kitchen for a fresh cup of coffee. Nothing elegant like that in these fantastic pictures, though.
