I have Rolandic Epilepsy so I know how this feels. I can do all the stuff regular kids do just under more supervision.I've had 2 Grand-mal seizures this year and kids make fun of me at school they keep saying that I'm weird and that I was having ceasers not seizures. I only have a few real friends.

Thank you for making this video. I am from the same city as you and saw the article about your video in the paper. I am pursuing a master's degree studying epilepsy and am also diagnosed with it. There is a terrible lack of care and awareness for those with epilepsy, so I can truly relate. This is why I am studying epilepsy; to ideally one day help people like your sister. I hope she gets the help she truly needs and deserves.

I know how it feels. I don't have any disease, but my grandma had cancer, nd although she's gone now,i suffered when she died nd i still miss her. And my little sister is celiac, it's not a big deal but she's only 11,imagine how she felt when she was told that she had to cut out on ice creams,chocolates, candys,all food that children enjoy eating. I seen your video the other day and it really stuck with me. I hope they figure out something really soon! Now this might sound really strange but I live in the Soo & I've been doing some research on the Chlorine in the water. Here's the strange part, the video said that within the last couple months that the epilepsy has gotten worse and had remembered reading somewhere that about a dog with severe epilepsy. The owner switched from a plastic bowl to ceramic and the epilepsy stopped.

@tenomeduv I agree with you, you have a very good point, epilepsy diagnosis is pretty easy to do, and thats why I don't think its the case, cause if you read the messages of the video, you will see that she already made a lot of tests, in and out of the city, spent a good time on hospital. So no, I don't think its just refractory epilepsy. I hope I'm wrong, but its my point of view.

I'm not an expert on seizures, but @shadowtheulti is right, seizures can be a sympton of many other things, and it includes chemical imbalance, poisoning, trauma and so on. So, while you can't have the proper support, you should ask for other tests, and does not matter what your sister said about drugs, you should run a drug test too, cause too many cases of seizures are caused by drug withdraw (abstinence from drugs), and too many people are ashamed to admit. I will pray for her. Good luck.
@oroko2 Gotta disagree severly on that, Epilepsy diagnosis is pretty easy to do, specially at her age, 2 or more seizures w/o having a secondary (organic) underlaying cause makes the diagnose, she just has refractary epilepsy, her best chance is surgery before 2 years since the diagnosis, luck with that all the good vibes.

Am I being a bit rude? Sorry, it's just that I was diagnosed with Epilepsy for two years and just a few months ago after my "seizures" began occurring every other week I was re-diagnosed with complicated migraines. Something the doctor didn't even consider

There are actually other illnesses that cause seizures that aren't related to epilepsy you know, and so if she has something like that, no epilepsy medication is going to work on her...

it might not be epilepsy thats causing those seizures to happen that frequently, there are numerous other diseases that could do that as well.. doctors are never 100% sure bout anything its just a guessing game. ask for tests for other diseases with similar symptoms while u wait for the specialist..

I know what its like to have dreams taken away because of epilepsy... It's sucks. I had 26 seizures in January alone. It's hard i know, but ill help you and her in any way I possibly can. Personally..raise the money....and GO anywhere BUT here! You would be better served. The health care here sucks. Walk into any hospital in southern ontario or london/toronto...I always got better results this way. BUT take care!

This made me cry. I saw your post on 9gag, and being a canadian too, the most I can do is to send the angels to watch over her this Christmas. I hope this reaches someone out there who is a specialist who may be able to help. If you are able to, look into ion foot baths, I think they might be helpful with epilepsy.I wish all of you the strength that you need to overcome this. I feel your pain 'cause i'm a sister too... i have two sister's... my little sister (11) and big sister (25). Mu little sister had really bad fever when she was just 6 months old... I seen your video the other day and it really stuck with me. I hope they figure out something really soon! Now this might sound really strange but I live in the Soo & I've been doing some research on the Chlorine in the water. Here's the strange part, the video said that within the last couple months that the epilepsy has gotten worse and had remembered reading somewhere that about a dog with severe epilepsy. The owner switched from a plastic bowl to ceramic and the epilepsy stopped.

There is no reason for a wait that long, this is the worst i've ever seen somone with epilepsy. i work with people who have disabilities. Some of the stories that come with them just break my heart. @tenomeduv I agree with you, you have a very good point, epilepsy diagnosis is pretty easy to do, and thats why I don't think its the case, cause if you read the messages of the video, you will see that she already made a lot of tests, in and out of the city, spent a good time on hospital. So no, I don't think its just refractory epilepsy. I hope I'm wrong, but its my point of view.

I'm not an expert on seizures, but @shadowtheulti is right, seizures can be a sympton of many other things, and it includes chemical imbalance, poisoning, trauma and so on. So, while you can't have the proper support, you should ask for other tests, and does not matter what your sister said about drugs, you should run a drug test too, cause too many cases of seizures are caused by drug withdraw (abstinence from drugs), and too many people are ashamed to admit. @oroko2 Gotta disagree severly on that, Epilepsy diagnosis is pretty easy to do, specially at her age, 2 or more seizures w/o having a secondary (organic) underlaying cause makes the diagnose, she just has refractary epilepsy, her best chance is surgery before 2 years since the diagnosis, luck with that all the good vibes.

@tenomeduv safe to get other illnesses checked out, to make sure they couldn't be anything besides seizures. Right off the top of my mind I can think of about ten things that can occur under those conditions that act exactly like seizures, so you should make sure. Get what I'm saying?

So, I agree with oroko2 and think it's very wise to get her checked out for other things, which I think it may very well be.
There are actually other illnesses that cause seizures that aren't related to epilepsy you know, and so if she has something like that, no epilepsy medication is going to work on her...

it might not be epilepsy thats causing those seizures to happen that frequently, there are numerous other diseases that could do that as well.. doctors are never 100% sure bout anything its just a guessing game. ask for tests for other diseases with similar symptoms while u wait for the specialist..

I also have epilepsy.. I can't stand it. But I know alot about and its medicines. If you two ever need any help I would be more than happy to oblige.. I know what its like to have dreams taken away because of epilepsy... It's sucks. I had 26 seizures in January alone. It's hard i know, but ill help you and her in any way I possibly can. Personally..raise the money....and GO anywhere BUT here! You would be better served. The health care here sucks. Walk into any hospital in southern ontario or london/toronto...I always got better results this way. BUT take care!

This made me cry. I saw your post on 9gag, and being a canadian too, the most I can do is to send the angels to watch over her this Christmas. I hope this reaches someone out there who is a specialist who may be able to help. If you are able to, look into ion foot baths, I think they might be helpful with epilepsy.I wish all of you the strength that you need to overcome this. I also wish your sister a speedy recovery, I know I would be heart broken if my little sister was in the same boat.

I feel your pain 'cause i'm a sister too... i have two sister's... my little sister (11) and big sister (25). Mu little sister had really bad fever when she was just 6 months old... Her temperature rised up to 40 celsius... that's lethal for someone of that age... But she made it trough. Take care of her. (and sorry of the grammar mistakes. english is not my native language.) Dont worry, there is someone out there who will be able to help your sister. Just stay strong and believe. My whole village's prayers are with you . Keep her going on Epilim and any other medicines that will help, giving up wont help anyone. I know that this would be hard for you, and I know how you feel. Though it may not be as serious, my brother has a illness that the doctors cant diagnose He is frequently in hospitals for tests, and I can't help but worry. Good luck and Merry Christmas! xx
