  • Congratulations on being a new mommy! you are wonderful and we thank you for you videos! at least I do.

  • i see that u are very busy with ur new addition and all or soon to be (congrats by the way:)) i have been natural off and on for over 10 yrs i have a strong desire to see the length of my hair and then i relax it and regret it every time needless to say i am pretty much done with the roller coaster lol my question to u is i have a pretty good grade of hair which tends to be thin and dry from the constant cornrows and weaves no glue do u have something that i can use for thickening and moisture

  • @Chunez Yes I most definitely understand where you're coming from with that. I understand that she chopped her hair four years ago, and four years into it, her hair looks like that. Lol! But I know there is more to it than just what I see. But I have definitely suscribed and will be waiting for more nd more posts. Are you natural or transitioning as well?

  • I would love to have healthy long hair like yours. Its so beautiful!!

  • OMG.."I WANT! I WANT!" LOL!! What do you do to your hair? You must let me in on everything you know!! Your hair is beautiful!!!!

  • @lvtbowman You Most deff have to watch all her videos to understand where she cam from.

  • U uploaded this vid on my birthday!

  • Happy December Birthday! and Congratulations!

  • Beautiful...

  • dayum u've been waering the same sports bra for liek half a year?

  • @CampGravatt123 ahahaahahaahhahahhahaha

  • What products do you use?

  • Kimmay!!! bring your tail back on youtube!!!!! I miss your vids!!! lol

  • beautiful hair,, ive decided this month im going natural !!

  • I am 5 months natural and have been researching all the great videos on youtube. I am confused about ACV rinses (when and how to use them). I noticed in one of your videos that you briefly mentioned them. Can you please go into detail about the ACV rinses. I realize that this maybe old information.....but the information on youtube is a bit confusing to me. Thank you in advance f

  • beautiful hair

  • I have been natural for about two years and my hair is really short. I am feeling like I want to give up on the natural hair. How am I supposed to know what my hair is lacking as far as protein or such. How do I know what products to use because my hair is always super dry and hard no matter what I put on it. Help please!!!

  • When is the product line coming out? I am ready to purchase.

  • omg your hair is so long my hair is only to my mid chest (naturally), how did you get it this long? Beautiful natural hair hun!!

  • can you please tell me what kind of shampoo and conditioner you use today. i will be very greatful :)

  • @MakeupDoll told us to subscribe! <3

  • I think it is awesome how long and healthy you have grown your hair. Thank you so much for showing us your secrets!

  • girly.. my hair is mid length of that...im not tryna get it that long but seeing how far..looks great.

  • how long has it taken you to grow your hair to your current length? also, do you workout? it appears so. do you think working out regulary adds to your hair regimen? thanks!

  • Until you come out with your hair care line, can you recommend a deep conditioner? Thanks :)

  • I'm so jealous !!!!!!!!!!! i wish my hair was tjhat long :( so far mine is shoulder length

  • @theoriginalucantfind

Keeping your hair "stretched" essentially means not leaving it loose in it's natural state. Kinky/curly hair if left untouched will coil up on itself and other strands which creates knots and tangles. Stretched hair: braids, twists, cornrows, flat twists (and the resulting braid out/twist out) avoids this problems which means less manipulation, less breakage and increased length retention. I've tried to ignore this advice but my 4A hair isn't having it :-D

  • my hair lloks like Kimmay's when it wet, but idk what to do to get it to retain moisture after a wash. it's so annoying

  • No offence, but with hair, natural hair, as BEAUTIFUL as yours, what is the point of having it that long when you have it in protective styles 99% of the time and hardly ever get the joy out of FLAUNTING IT? I mean, that's like someone hoarding millions of dollars and never spending it. What is the point of having a good thing when, in your case, you never show it?

    BTW your hair IS FLAWLESS!!!

  • @HappyHooker83

I'm going to give u the same answer I always give. It's no different than one's relationship with money. I call it the "broke hair, broke pocket mentality" You can spend & flaunt your money all the time trying to impress people that you have something & you'll wind up broke. Or you can spend SOME of it, but save & invest & you'll NEVER go broke.

Same analogy goes for hair. I enjoy having unbroken hair. I wear it out when I feel like it. And I flaunt longer REAL twists. :o)

  • @kimmaytube go kimmay!

  • @kimmaytube Great response and that's what I thought of when I read that question. People with really deep pockets have deep pockets because the don't necessarily "flaunt" their money. They enjoy it on their terms and responsibly.

  • @kimmaytube Wow. I could not have given a better response. Awesome.

  • @HappyHooker83 Yeah, that's what I was thinking, too. What's the point of growing your hair out long if you can't show the length? I mean, I do understand that you have to keep it in protective styles in order for it not to break but at the same time, it seems like a lot of naturals rarely wear their real hair lose and instead wear it in twists or braids all the time and that's something I vowed never to do. I might protective style 4/5 days out the week but the other 2 is loose.

  • @CrownJewel32 Yeah, I think it is bc they still to some degree feel ashamed of their hair as imposed on em by society so they pretend to wear it while subliminally convincing themselves that they are proud of their hair and they really arent. Just take viamin E and omega 3 pills and you should be kosher. Btw I just bleached my hair and it is still healthy. I mean how many white girls u see wearing afros for protective styles? There you go!

  • @HappyHooker83 I don't necessarily think they're ashamed of their hair---I just think maybe they are too afraid to just let it hang naturally from fear of it breaking off and as a result losing length. But, I'll be damned if I grow my hair to waist length and all I'm wearing is protective styles every day. No, no way. I hate those little braids and twists---they're not cute to me.

  • @CrownJewel32 Yeah, they can wear or put in leave in conditioner to make it grow and expand while retaining length. There is no need to hide it 24/7. Some of these "naturals" don unnatural looking wigs, like that straight hair shyte! So, I think there is some trepedation to wearing natural hair on some of their parts, not all. I use jheri curl moisturizer - NOT the activator - to retain moisture and, thus, length. Personally, I don't give a care about long hair to impress anyone. I get paid for

  • @HappyHooker83 Yeah, there's no reason to hide it 24/7 and I HATE those ugly, protective styles. They are just so unattractive to me. I don't wanna be walking around with Celie from the color purple braids every day of the week. Yeah, but I think you are right. There are naturals who wear bone straight wigs or sew-ins and it looks horrible. Oh, and I love using Jheri curl juice (LOL). I spray my hair w/ wave nouveau mixed with water everyday. I like luster's no drip too.

  • @CrownJewel32 it. I like the short styles! I will do another vid tonight to show off my bleach blonde look. Would you believe I bleached this about 5 times and it still has yet to fall out???

  • @HappyHooker83 WOW! You must have some strong hair, sister!

  • @HappyHooker83 my hair shrinks like 90%. I can't wait to get to wait list so my twist can be at least shoulder length and full when I wear them. I know this was directed towards me but I want longer hair so when I wear my protective styles the shrinkage will be at a length I enjoy.

  • @punky298705 I feel your pain, I get like 75% shrinkage, so the majority of the time I use the method Kim shows in her 'Conditioning and Stretching' video, before I put my hair in protective styles. Which I only really do in Winter, since I love my hair too much to have it put away all the time.

  • Not bad slim ;)

  • Hey Kim, can you do a review on curlformers? They are heatless curlers. I always wondered how they would look on long natural hair

  • ur hair is soooooo beautiful sister, im so happy for u, u are a true inspiration to me. tank u so much 4 giving me and im sure many other sister hope n can do attitude xx

  • How do u get ur hair to grow that fast

  • OK, I choppped my hair Saturday, no wigs, no braids all natural.....Oh God am so scare what people at the office thinking, I don't want to SHOCK them or make them feel uncomfortable.

  • @MissCapoise why should that shock them, You aren't coming in to work with a hatchet, or a machete. Now that would be shocking. Back in the 90's I cut my hair myself and went it to work - and you know what NO ONE said a word, I never expected them to, I really never thought about how they would react to it. In fact why should I have to consider what they think about what I do with what's mine. Some of us care too much what others think. Live Your life, don't live through other people.

  • @MissCapoise since that time I have big chopped many times, I didn't do it this year ( I mean a really big chop) I did it last year, and the year before that and the year before that. I've been wearing my God-given hair for most of my life, all people do is look.I guess too if we feel insecure about it, then that's when they may come in for the kill. (just kidding). Hope your journey goes well.

  • What is your hair type? I think I have 4c but I would love hair like yours. >.<

  • Wow I too recently discovered your channel and am amazed at how the Ph levels can have such an effect on our hair. I am happy that someone has done the research and has shared. Thank you!!! Looking forward to your product line...

  • makeupD0LL sent me im a new subbie

  • their are 58 haters on this video !

  • Looks like 57 people can't get their hair to grow!!!!!

  • Does anyone know what EXACTLY does she do to get her hair to grow? I really need help!! Im so tired of my hair not growing past my earlobes. Anyone...HELP HELP HELP!!!

  • @jessypooh24 you need to watch her older videos she goes through everything ;p

  • what an inspiration...time, care and hard work does pay off - keep growin that hair!!

  • I can't belive that your hair grew that long in just 2 years.... That's great, I've been natural my whole live and I cut my hair to chin level 4 or 5 years ago and my hair is barely past shoulder lenght now

  • :-) <3

  • Wowwwww just freakin WOWWWWW!!!!

  • So glad to see ur hair long like that. It really gives hope to a lot of women of color, who have afro hair type hair. For years, it was thought and seen that women of color could not grow long hair like yours. Perms and other chemicals were marketed towards us, thus keeping our hair from growing to it's fullest potential. Natural hair is the way I believe. African women of age did not trat their hair w/ harsh cemicals, I believe they too had long natural hair, it was apart of our true beauty.

  • Wow this is amazing... almost unbelievable. What's your weekly regimen? Is this really possible in 4 years alone? I feel like I'm doing the "right" things but I'm only maintaining like 2'' of growth a year :/ I'm willing to try your weekly regimen, do you have a video on it? Thanks

  • @glutton.... Lmfao!!!!

  • HAIR ENVY!!!! :-) You're hair is BEAUTIFUL!!!

  • was ur hair always long ?

  • Kim, im realy realy curious at what shampoo you use in your hair. is it your own mix or store bought, if so which one? :)

  • YOUR fucking amazing simply the best! My motivation, and inspiration LIVING proof black women can grow long hair. If there educated and experience trial and error. I'm at your sept 2010 length and so excited for next year to see if i can get to where you are now. :D

  • Whenever I need any motivation to keep my hair in it's protective styles I watch this video. I am so happy/proud of you that you set goals for yourself AND reach them. Keep up the good work lady, you have taught me A LOT :D

  • Hi Kimmay, is your leave in conditioner video no longer available? I was trying to find it to see how you mixed it but I've only found the recipe

  • how long did your hair journey last ?

  • what is your ethnicity love? Your hair is beautiful!

  • @jsonaike Her ethnicity is African-American.

  • Kim I cant wait until my hair is not a mystery anymore! Everyday I don't know what it will look like when I wake up! Your hair growth is amazing

  • Does keeping your hair stretched 99 percent of the time result in permanently stretched curls? (is that a dumb question? lol)

  • Thanks Kimmay! I truly appreciate you sharing your knowledge. I currently use your leave-in conditioner recipe and my hair has grown ,it is more manageable, and the natural texture is healthier. May God bless you one-thousand fold. Amen.

  • i can NOT wait until the LUV Naturals hair productg line is available to the mass market b/c your leave in concoction has been a Godsend to my hair...I know you will have the same meticulous mix in your own design.

  • Wow

  • Hello kim i love your hair tutorial. I would love to see future tutorial about your workout regiments. Thanks for all the great informations.

  • Hello kim i love you hair tutorial. I would love to see future tutorial about your workout regiments. Thanks for all the great informations.

  • i think you are the only believable natural hair youtuber. you actually show that your hair used to not grow at all and now it does. you have an amazing channel!! thank you for sharing your journey with us. :)

  • African american's hair are all so prettier than mine :( (i'm white)

  • @LivLoveLaughLearn you're hair is gorgeous too, embrace it

  • @LivLoveLaughLearn Don;t say that. Everyone has to have confidence with their style and you have to remember that Kimmaytube used to have a relaxer so her hair could look like yours

  • @Diva4Less it was only for those days, it wont be there after the day it was top rated

  • Now THAT'S progress! I have the same hair texture and this is so inspiring to know that with the proper care I can reach my dream length as well. Thanks

  • Remarkable!

  • I just went natural this year and I am loving it. I wish I had always done this I did not know what I was missing.I do not use any chemicals, pressing combs, curling irons or flat irons. I never lose any hair in my comb and I thank you for sharing with the public your advise on hair care. God bless.

    LOL Janet

  • you remind me of rosie perez

  • i know this is a hair blog...but how do you get that stomach at 34???

  • hey kim. thank you so much for taking the time to not only do research but to share the results with all of us here on youtube. so many of us have spent years in that grow/break cycle that it refreshing to see others who have had tremendous success with length retention. u are truly an inspiration to me now that im natural again. right now im awaiting the delivery of The science of Black hair and i cant wait to get even more insight on ph balance and haircare.

  • your growth is amazing and inspiring. thanks for the hard work in tracking your progress and sharing tips on hair, fashion, etc... your appreciated greatly! thank u!

  • When are you going to do some workout tutorials? Half the time I end up looking at your abs or biceps instead of your hair : )

You're truly an all around inspiration!!!

  • so your hair grew disgustingly fast

  • What can I say or add that has not been stated a billion times over. I have been falling you consistently since May 2009 (since I started to transition then big chopped my hair in Feb 2010, which left me with about 8 months of new growth, roughly 5 to 6 inches of hair) and you have helped me tremendously. I am progressing very well. Keep it up Kim!!

  • Hi Kim..I love your work!! It really motivates me to see my hair's potential!! I have a question and I'm not sure if its a smart one but I'm curious...the pH of the Dr.Broner's soap was about 10 and u placed a tip in water and it didn't balance..I read that the pH of Glycerin varies around 10..Am I doin the roller coaster wid the glycerin?? Can u help?? Thank U

  • I love the integrity of your channel !!! Thanks for sharing your knowledge.

  • I am excited to hear about your own line. Can't wait to hear about it in the future.

  • Hello,

Can you tell me what was your routine the past 13 months? Have you used the JBCO all the time? any dietary supplement did you?

  • I know you get this all the time, but thank you for teaching me about hair! Because of you I've maintained growth from chin length to bra strap length in a year. In the past I've even had hairdressers telling me my hair just won't grow long, ever. But your common sense approach has proven them wrong!

  • hi kimmaytube how often should i wash my hair because i already wash it once a week should i do more and i am transitioning. And how often should i just wet it with water.

  • I can watch this video over and over

  • Do you ever allow salon stylist to do your hair

  • VERY inspiring

  • Kim what type is your hair? is it 4A? Also please hurry and come out with your hair products. I am chomping at the bit. Out of all the videos I watch your are the most informative and what can I say...........the proof is in the pudding or in your case the hair. I did the BC in Oct 2010. It has only been since I have been watching your videos' that I see hair growth! Knowledge is power!

  • @MissSharon50

NO! I will not hurry. :o)

This is not a sprint, but a marathon. The products will be released when they are ready. What I CAN say is that they will be released this year. Trust me, I'm MORE anxious and excited about it than any of you.

In the meantime, never forget that hair care and maintenance is 95% technique, knowledge, experimentation, gentle handling and only 5% products.

And even when my product line is released, my advice will never change!!

    Take care, love.

  • @kimmaytube you know what, your reply has just taken my respect levels for you up another notch. I am nobody's stan, but I recognize hard workers and you totally deserve your success. Very few can say they actually have put in the work, so keep it up and thanks for inspiring me. Plus, I am finally mastering my hair thanks to your help!!!

  • @MissSharon50 Knowledge is for sure power! So true!

  • Wow! Your hair looks absolutely amazing! I want my hair to grow as long as yours.

  • I love your hair!

  • hi Kim since u dnt use Giovanni anymore what do u use to wash condition n detangle ur hair with

  • Hi @myyoyo7 , I was thinking the exact same thing! Most likely she is using her own products though.

  • What video that you decide your hair care regimen and the products you use.

  • Man, you are hot.

I think fros look absolutely gorgeous on a woman. They make them look vibrant, healthy, fit and endow them with a lot of personality. I will never understand why so many black women don't go for it.

(I'm a white man, by the way.)

  • Hey. I have been transitioning for 1 year now and my hair grows a lot and i also have big thick 4a 4bhair, I always have my hair in braids but when i take it out.It is a huge problem to detangle and i am scared to take my braids out because i am tender headed and me having hair like this is really hard. I find that when i use the products for my hair it is dry. Also i use giovannis to wash and then detangle with kinky curly knot today tangle teezer and olive oil. And it still is really hard. Pl

  • you are so friggin cute! lol

  • Love the Luv Naturals T-Shirt KIm ♥

  • Truly looking forward to your products Kim!!

  • I can NOT wait for you to release your line of products (shampoo and conditioner (rinse out). I have been using Giovanni and since the formula change (I see you dont use it anymore), I am HUNTING for something new that is GOOD, NATURAL and INEXPENSIVE. You are the ONLY youtuber that I have found out here that does hair EDUCATION & styling; with education being of greater importance. So...very lovingly I ask...HURRY UP! :) We are waiting!

  • Your hair is FAB, envy and jealousy (in a good way) got me motivated and inspired. Thank you for disproving myths about black hair and doing you. Can't even hate

  • Could you do a series on how to keep the hair at night. Bedtime. Thanks.

  • Great progress!

  • You know what would be really interesting, is if you would take the information that you have and start all over with a new natural with a twa...and mentor her...and document her progress..

  • @kinkyhairchronicles i agree. I hope kimmay sees this comment

  • @kimmaytube I need ur help!! I love watching ur videos and will continue 2 but in almost every vid u hav on styling ur hair u say tht water is the best moisture to apply 2 ur hair. When I tried 2 put water in my hair when it was dry first of all my hair shrunk up and second of all when my hair dried it was hard and nappy and it stayed tht way! Plz do u have any suggestions or do u know why dis is happening Thx

  • @peaceoutt2 she means water AND a moisturizer. if you already have product in your hair add water to refresh it. She uses her own leave in conditioner or water/glycerin mixture

  • I want to be the first to buy your product (if you ever decide to make a line). I follow you for my hair and my 2yr old's hair and we have really seen better results because of you sharing your knowledge. Thanks for in vids and keep them coming!

  • Great documentation of progression. You are a very disciplined individual... not all of us display the degree of discipline that it requires to stay on such a journey (I know that I haven't been in the past; as I have started and stopped the natural journey at least a half-dozen times in the past 10-15 years---) imagine how long my hair would be if I maintained your level of "self-control" and dicipline.

Your journey (and some others in the Natural Hair Community) is truly an inspiration!!

  • Your method really does work i have limited knots and tangles and Im noticing length retention.your channel has inspired me to starting my own but I am a little nervous to. Thank you for sharing such wonderful information and I cant wait for your product line to come out.

  • thank you!!! I've learned a great deal from you. You're AWESOME!!!

  • Hey Kim, I have been wearing my hair pressed for years now and I want to transition to natural hair. Now recently I have been doing flat twist on my hair and using more natural products but my hair just doesn't seem to want to come out right. My hair always looks frizzy. I would like to know if you would recommend that I do the big chop or should I just cut my ends shorter. I don't know what I should do at this point. I am leaning more toward the big chop. What do you think??

  • Comment removed

  • I love your website!!! Your videos are very professional and your information well researched. I have told every natural that I meet who want to achieve length to see your site. You are one of the few who have achieved such tremendous results without spending a lot of time/money with many different products. I agree, it requires, consistency, and patience. Many people want to achieve your results without putting in the time and just leaving their hair alone. Great work, keep it up!!

  • Where is the video that shows how to smooth edges up!?

  • Wow my three year old its going to love it I hope I can make her stay still.....lol

  • Congrats Kim! Your hair journey is so inspiring! I've been watching your videos since the very beginning! Eagerly awaiting the launch of your products! :)

  • You are so inspiring!!! Thanx for sharing

  • Your hair is beautiful!!!!

  • @michrich98

    you're sweet. thanks! :o)

  • It is you who made me go natural about a year ago. Thank you Kim.

  • you haven't discussed whether yo uput you hair in twist when you hair was shoulder length. does this regemine work for someone who has a shorter hair length. I know you gets a lot of questions, but I have searched your site and your page and have found no answer.

  • @bebegurl31291

She has several videos showing her hair in twists when it was shoulder length. Her routine has been consistent - thus the reason for the growth.

  • @ProudMomof4kids- the length of her twist may be shoulder length, but her hair at its stretched point wasn't shoulder length. If it was, it would shrink to the higher point in her neck or to her ear lobes. I just want to know did she have to modify her regemine once her hair grew, and if so what was it when it was much shorter:)

  • Results don't lie!

  • What do u put in your hair to make it grow so fast

  • I am so happy that I found you. You are so full of valuable information. I have watched all the videos and have learned so much. Thank you for being here.

  • How often do u clip your ends?

  • Love your videos. When people ask me about my hair I tell them to watch you. Your info has been helpful to me in my hair journey. Keep up the great work.

  • Go Kimmay Go! Every where I go, I'm recommending ppl watch your videos.

  • For Kimmay and ANYONE willing to share their own $0.02:

At what point of your hair journey did you stop seeing *little* pieces of hair in the sink (i.e. what changed in your regimen to achieve this)? I always see them, and I know that the day I don't see them, I must have the right regimen for length retention. Right?

  • @luwakw01 I have the same question, I don't know what to do to stop the little pieces breaking off and I worry i won't retain any length if I don't stop this problem :(

  • So inspirational.

  • damn u've had that pink bra for a long time, lol!
