I am in my late twenties and got my first A+L when i was 8. I still play it daily at home, and used at countless gigs as my main acoustic, and it has gotten only better sounding with age. as it doesn't have a thick finish so the woods breathes and it doesn't deaden the sound. I am buying a cutaway model soon like this + with proper care, it will last a long time, and only get better with age. people always comment on how great the sound is and ask "what is that?" a great guitar! Happy playing.
@TheJacobashe The first 4 minutes was acoustically...in person they are even nicer than what you can actually hear here...not as deep and fat as a Martin, but better than most...also check out the Seagull's...they have an even nicer, deep rich sound...
I'm looking for a new electroacustic guitar and then I saw this brand. I like the CW Cedar Blue. I can't spend a lot of money but I think they're worth. Do you think I should buy one? Thanks for the review and sorry, my english is crappy.
@Lanakikuta I think they are amazing guitars for the money...look for a used one if you have patience as they can be great deals because not so many people know about them...I have bought a few over the years...do a little set-up work and they feel great...I am just as likely to pick up my A & L Parlor (Ami) these days as my Taylor...and your English is fine! Good luck!
Thanks your video, I bought an Art & Lutherie Cedar Sunrise^^ I LOVE it :D Can you tell me what is the music at the beggining of the video? Please I like it...
@guitarandbeyondThey are great guitars! I picked up one of their Ami's (in GREEN!!!!!) after letting this one go...demo/review coming soon. Thanks for watching!
@JaymarkRadio Thanks...this was a real pleasure to do...mind blowing, but it's very cool to pass along this info and save some people some potential big money (if they are spending it for the wrong reason...like on a name...and i'm not saying not to buy Taylor guitars...just do it for the right reason...because it feels and sounds good to you). I'm still looking for a used small bodied Ac/El A&L although I did buy one of their Parlor Ami's for kicking around on since this video and I love that.
@JaymarkRadio I'm glad to help...I have a Seagull S6 + CW Cedar I'll be demo-ing and putting up for sale imminently...let me know if it interests you...it's not real pretty (natural finish and some dings/wear) but it's a good one...
I really don't know what all the big deal is with Taylor's. I have a few, but really wish I didn't - they don't age well. My Larrivees and A&L are by far more balanced in tone, unlike the over treble Taylor or under tone Martins. It is a shame that most people buy based on marketing instead of the sound and playability of the instrument. I wish all beginners starts with the A&L - your ears and wallet will thank you!!
I have owned an Art and Lutherie cedar since the late 90's and it still plays as well as it did when it was new. It is a good guitar and I would take it over say, a Yamaha or Alvarez.
But it is ridiculous to compare it with a Martin or a Taylor. The difference in sound is HUGE. My bottom-of-the-line Martin DX1R is in a totally different class and since I got it, I just don't pick up the A&L anymore.
@bobharris77 Unplugged there can be a huge difference...and some people will choose one guitar over another (everybody has their own favorites...I've come to love a lot of different guitars over the years...just appreciating their uniqueness) and you can't tell someone they are wrong...it's personal opinion. I love the way my Taylor plays...yes, far superior...but I was comparing the amplified sounds...listen to how it sounds plugged in...it wasn't even close (to my ears)...A&L got it right!
OMG that sweet baby went for $299.00 at your e-Bay store. I'm jealous like crazy dude. Sorry if that was a big hurtin' you took on that.
I kid you not, if you luckily came in to something like this again on the cheap, and told me I had 4 months to come up with $600 before you'd give it your special love work-over. And then I mail you the $extra$ big postage for your bulletproof packing, I'd go for it.
Somebody got made REALLY happy on this lovely guitar.
Just starting out, but every time I pick it up, I seem to be getting better.
I was recommended the A&L brand by a local musician I'm friends with from the band whose videos I posted on my account (specifically, Charlie Roth from the '10 vids... check out his stuff too).
@brandoscostumes Without my seeing it (and putting my hands on it), it seems like a great deal! I think they changed the electronics they use, but that is a great price if it is a good one...
@xxxEnterSandmanXxX It's oversized and heavy because of the case, but not so bad (for shipping) compared to some Countries...add $100.00 for USPS Priority Mail International (and that includes full insurance). You also pay whatever your government might charge you for importing it (Customs/Duties/Brokerage or Import Fees/Taxes...whatever they call it...could be another 20-25% (or even more)...check that out before you commit to it...but I have sold many guitars Internationally including Ireland.
@xxxEnterSandmanXxX The link to it is right under the video...starts @ $349.99 including the shipping for the Continental U.S. and I've got a $389.99 Buy It Now option and it includes a great hard shell case.
@RT101894 They are Thomastik Plectrums...search my videos or "greengtrs" and "Taylor 712E" and you can see how they aged over the last year...I first put this set on for the What's in a Name/Live Looping Extravaganza I did when I played for my church's Fall festival outreach last year...I got hooked on these strings like 15 years ago when I put a set on my beach guitar and they still held their tune and were still flexible a year after my (beach) vacation and I would take it ON the beach!
@RT101894 Sweet. I'll definitely have to look into them. I use D'addario Custom Lights on my Taylor 414ce (got it about 2 moths ago - nothing close to a 712 - man that's a beauty) The D'addarios are what i have been using on my Martin Dx1 and i really liked them, So i gave them a shot on my Taylor...there nice. they hold their tune, sound great. But they don't last long at all. Elixer's last a little longer. Any experience with Elixer's? Are the Thomastik's better?
@RT101894 Actually the 400 series are some of their best sounding guitars...they just get fancier after that but not always better sounding...I don't like Elixer's or really any of the coated strings but these Thomastik's I love...technically I'm a dealer but I don't know how long I'll continue to be...no one really knows about them and there is no real profit margin so with me using up the inventory, it's a losing situation so far...
@RT101894 Yes...use the send a message link on my channel page and let me know which ones you want...or which gauges you prefer/what you're used to as these don't match up exactly as they are doing their own unique balance...I'm using a .011/.014/.019/.026/.036/.050 set here and it's what I almost always use except on short scale guitars like my old Larrivee Parlor which was the .012 - .059 set. They also have a .010 - .041 extra light set (could use them on a Classical) and a .013 - .061 set.
