Women are not always weak. They sometimes do raise armies. Joan of Arc was a Christian who believed she was divinely chosen by God. She wouldn't allow other women in the army (even though they tried to get in), due to her (crazy) religious beliefs. And she was betrayed by the very men she was working for.
It's not the gender, it's the socialization. There are many different cultures out there besides the Western model. And they show dramatic differences in gender roles.

@ironmanalasdair I respectfully disagree. I don't see any evidence that evolution has put genders in the roles they are today. Though, there is something to be said for the differing hormone levels (like testosterone), which may be linked to more aggressive and domineering behavior. However, a lot of that again changes in certain situations. For instance, in armies, testosterone levels tend to be higher than before the person was put in the aggressive environment. This is what I've learned.
If you don't see it, I suggest you look harder. Obviously soldiers have higher testosterone levels than civilians, just as men have higher testosterone levels than women; through necessity. It is evolutionary, and socially engineering men to be less manly and women to be more so will do nothing for society except eliminate the extremes of excellence that can be achieved at both ends of the spectrum. Women are not always weak. They sometimes do raise armies. Joan of Arc was a Christian who believed she was divinely chosen by God. She wouldn't allow other women in the army (even though they tried to get in), due to her (crazy) religious beliefs. And she was betrayed by the very men she was working for.
It's not the gender, it's the socialization. There are many different cultures out there besides the Western model. And they show dramatic differences in gender roles.

There is only so much space to give examples. And she is not a bad example for someone that managed to head an army at that time. Pretty hard to do that when the vast majority of the time you got burned at the stake for going against the status quo, which is what happened to her really.
I didn't say women dominated, but that the usual gender roles are in the reverse.
And it is socialization (and violence) that put both genders into the roles we see today.

@ironmanalasdair I respectfully disagree. I don't see any evidence that evolution has put genders in the roles they are today. Though, there is something to be said for the differing hormone levels (like testosterone), which may be linked to more aggressive and domineering behavior. However, a lot of that again changes in certain situations. For instance, in armies, testosterone levels tend to be higher than before the person was put in the aggressive environment. This is what I've learned.

If you don't see it, I suggest you look harder. Obviously soldiers have higher testosterone levels than civilians, just as men have higher testosterone levels than women; through necessity. Women OFTEN complain about being denied the vote. They neglect to mention that most WHITE MEN also couldn't vote because it was attributed to class and not gender. It is the equivalent of a woman assuming that men are all chauvinistic pigs when that is far from the truth. People are people we should treat men and women as people first, let gender play a secondary role. Blanket statements only hurt people.

You treat people with a 'modicum' of respect until such time as they prove to you that they deserve either more or less. Since gender has such an expansive effect on the human brain women, more often than not, quickly turn the modicum of respect into little or none whatsoever. You can try and relegate gender to a secondary role all you want

The up-side to all of this is that I have found that men and women are perhaps alike in a way I had not noticed before; they are both prone to hormone induced rants, we are merely fueled by different hormone balances.

Women have been using these underhanded tactics against men now for so long that they feel like they have some sort of right to do it. They brag about their latest 'victories' with their friends as if it somehow makes them better people but it doesn't. Far from it. Being manipulative does not make one a better person and certainly not a better woman.
I am happily married and have 3 daughters - just so you know. I do not hate women. I understand women. I understand them all too well.

If I hadn't been genuine friends with women over the years I wouldn't understand so much but I have been. I've been wise in picking the women I decide to be friendly with however - always choosing to steer clear of those warped individuals, preferring instead the company of intelligent individuals. Intelligent enough to be able to accept that they can never be as intelligent as the most intelligent men. We are biologically different - fact. Our brains are different - fact. Our bellys are too.

We are NOT equal - fact. Anyway, you just have to look at the family court system in any country in this world to see how unequal things are and in the criminal courts it's all too often the same. If a woman kills her child she is preversely often felt sorry for. "She's suffered enough. She will have to live with this for the rest of life" seems to be sufficient punishment. Whereas if a man kills a child he is an animal who needs to be locked up for the rest of his life. Figure that out.

The great thing about the picture you paint is that there is only a binary gender system contained within it, and the greatest flaw of this way of thinking is that there is a right and a wrong, a greater and lesser way of being or thinking.

yeah, it's easy for a woman if she looks the way she's supposed to. All women don't look like sex objects. It goes the same way for men. There is an image projected in the media of both men and women that implies that you are not physically, sexually, or emotionally valid unless you have a certain body type or a certain style of dress. They want women to be skinny. They want men to be buff. Positive feminism is about getting people to accept that the opposite sex isn't these preconceptions.

In a sense, being the hunters does make men superior. It shows that men are the aggressors, the go-getters, and the risk takers. Which is why on average, men are more successful than women.
