When Brawl had just come out in Japan, I remember some people that had gotten their hands on it saying that Fox can SHTL. And for the second one, isn't Fire Fox stalling better? Although I dunno if you can still do it in Brawl.

well, in melee, the reason people said firefrox stall was better is because it's easier and safer. In brawl, the firefox animation doesn't cancel when your'e near the ledge so you have to wait for him to actually fly up in order to grab the ledge, making it faster to just fall off and jump back up. So in brawl, illusion stall is better.

You're all a bunch of noobs. Melee is only better for competitive play and used more becuz it's a giant glitch and that allows for some nifty things (think Gunz:The Duel). Niether can be better than the other becuz they require different levels of skill. They are complete opposites, and you can't fairly compare opposites. Think of Brawl like chess, it take more mental skill; and Melee like flying a jet, it takes more technical skill.

BTW, I play both competitivly, so keep the flames down nubs..

When you're in a tournament where everyone is ridiculously talented technically, all that's left is mental. The only problem with the illusion stall is that, In Brawl, most up-B's cut off in order to catch the ledge, which is another reason you may not see someone spike as often, if they are Marth for instance, he can use his up-B and catch the ledge quickly and you just fall to your death. But that's situational, so gj on these.

Too my suprise, these things turn out to be really useful. Okay, the first one hasn't got much of effeciency (can do min dmg), but could come in handy when your opponent is off stage and recovering, but every percent can make a difference.

The second one is really useful for edgehog, but also risky, if you give a slightly late input, you could get hit and get smacked out of the stage, or fall below the edge and also fall off. Anyway, besides the risk part it's really useful in some situations.

If you can't manage to do it with just your thumb, try using more fingers. I have some combo's with characters where I use shortjumps and attacks really fast in a row, sometimes I succeed doing it with just my thumb, other times I use my other fingers (the one that's most comfortble at that moment).
