i think both drivers and pedestrians in china are valorous. peds constantly run red while there's traffic on green crossing; when peds on green turning vehicles would try to encroach on their right-of-way on the crosswalk. so either driving or walking on street must be attentive!

And if you doing something wrong on the street, you'll just hear honking or ringing ... they won't curse you or even hit you :)

i was in shanghai last year, in pudong park area, the stop lights are only for if your tired,(kidding) it's not what Americans are use to, but you grow accustom to the honking, i am going back in April,(business) very nice people, very friendly.
Yeah, i spent a few months in Shanghai and it was really amazing how i never witnessed one accident. I mean, the way these people use the streets, it's impossible for one of them trucks or buses to hit those pesky bikers... but well... i guess fengshui really works, hehe...
