  • This is everything that is wrong with theology, and indoctrination in the "Church". "You believe what I believe, or you don't belong here". Maybe you should just say that Mr. Driscoll (Who has flaws in his doctrine and theology).

  • Ooops, I do not accept the essential doctrines of Mars Hill Church. For example, I reject the contention that some will spend eternity in either Heaven or Hell. In fact, I think that perpetuates a gross misunderstanding of Christianity. Christianity teaches a universal bodily resurrection in THIS physical universe. Jesus was the first to resurrect. The intermediate state between death and resurrection is not eternal (Mat 24:35)

  • @StormTrek so you're Jewish right? Because honestly you don't have any need for Jesus if you don't believe you'll have eternal separation from God due to the sins and transgressions you've committed against Him. THIS is why so many people outside of the Church have little interest in Christianity. "Followers" of Jesus are so deluded by their sin that they find every excuse to ditch the Gospel. And your supporting verse is out of context for your claim; it just says that God's words are eternal.

  • @caseykillsbadguys If that's all it said, that's all it would say.

  • Can Christians help Christians to become Atheists.

  • @nctrls2 if a Christian can become an Atheist, they were never a Christian. The Holy Spirit within them (1 Corinthians 6:19, 2 Timothy 1:14, Romans 8:11) is their internal witness that God is alive and present in their life.

  • @caseykillsbadguys OK you're a loony. In the beginning I was a Christian then I became an Atheist, was I an Atheist when I were Christian?

My whole family are Christians and I was born Christian was I Atheist when growing up in a Christian family.

  • @nctrls2 I'm going out on a limb here by asking but was your family Catholic or Lutheran? Nobody is or was ever "born Christian." Maybe born into a family OF Christians, but that's entirely different than being born a Christian. There are those who the elect at birth (as all Christians are) but that calling doesn't become effectual until the individual can comprehend their faith. And I know how you feel; I thought I was a Christian too before I realized that I didn't really believe in Jesus.

  • @caseykillsbadguys My family are Catholics, but most of my cousins are Muslim. Thank goodness I was born Atheist.

  • "Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them. 18I tell you the truth, until heaven and earth disappear, not the smallest letter, not the least stroke of a pen, will by any means disappear from the Law until everything is accomplished." Mark 5:17-18

  • @juicenburg But following the law of the OT isn't nececeary for salvation.

  • hah christian bullshit. its more of a joke of something i would laughat then something serious. hey i know something that will make u angry? HAIL SATAN!

  • Ppplllease get a life and grow up... thanks

  • @shivapatelmusic that doesnt make us angry. It just makes us concerned for people like you that are so lost.

  • I appreciate your teaching on "The Shack" & the video on "Is homosexuality a sin?" & on this series on doctrine. Just curious if you've read the "Naked Gospel" and what were your thoughts on that.

  • Beating your slaves appears a few times in the bible and is never considered an abomination. Is this also part of your doctrine, re-instituting slavery?

    Good luck with that one.

  • "Slaves, obey your earthly masters with respect and fear, and with sincerity of heart, just as you would obey Christ...And masters, treat your slaves in the same way. Do not threaten them, since you know that he who is both their Master and yours is in heaven, and there is no favoritism with him." Eph 6:5-9

Slavery, as in America and Europe, the Bible does calls evil. This is why Christians fought against it, men like William Wilberforce.

Christians will always fight for civil rights.

  • Wrong answer. Now, I will use the bible to expose your hypocrisy and contradictory logic.

    Exodus 21:20:

"If a man beats his male or female slave with a rod and the slave dies as a direct result, he must be punished, but he is not to be punished if the slave gets up after a day or two, since the slave is his property."

Christians never fight for civil rights, they only adapt once society corrects them. Just like we're seeing today with gay marriage.

  • Who is "society" to Correct them?

How can you say Christians never fight for Civil rights when I pointed, out that they Do?!

Who were people like Martin Luther King Jr?

    Or Dorothy Day?

    You have contradictory logic!

Furthermore, the of the Old Testament does not perfectly reflect the heart of God, Jesus says this.

"Moses permitted you to divorce your wives because your hearts were hard. But it was not this way from the beginning."

    Read Matthew 17:3-9 for context.

Lastly, Why am I a hypocrite?

  • Saying Christians NEVER fight for civil rights is obviously hyperbole. Some do. But for the most party, society corrects the bible, rather than the other way around.

But at the end of the day, the God who is in the Old Test who is supposed to be the same as Jesus, states specially that you can beat your slaves, as long as they don't die right away.

If you fail to accept this, but disregard every other religious text due to deficiencies as such, than you are a hypocrite.

  • The Old and New Testaments represent a change. The Old Testament does not have Jesus, rather prophecies of the Messiah. The OT also sets laws for the Hebrew nation almost like our Constitution. In the NT, Jesus comes, lives a perfect life, dies as an atonement for sin, and abolishes the Old Law so that we can have new life without rules. Christianity is based on a relationship with the Son. Christians abide by Jesus words, not by Old Testament law! The Old Testament gives us context.

  • Except Jesus said that he didn't come to abolish the Old Law.

  • @satori137 Jesus came to atone for sin, which made the old law useless. They used to have to sacrifice to cover their sins..then Jesus came and died as the perfect and spotless sacrifice to forgive ALL sins. So the old law wasnt necessary anymore.

  • MLK Jr. was not a christian according to the fundamentalist definition of a Christian. MLK was influenced primarily by Ghandi (a Hindu) in his Civil rights struggle, and only used Christian imagery and language.

"Furthermore, the Old Testament does not perfectly reflect the heart of God"

So it's not God's word. If you can't trust it completely on all matters, why should you trust it in any matter at all, and that includes Genesis, and the Messianic prophecies.

  • @satori137 if you dont think that the entire Bible is inspired by Godm then i dont know what to tell you. But i challenge you to prove that the Old Testament reflects Gods heart any less than the New Testament...

  • So it's ok to buy, sell and own another human being (kind of like a pet), but you just need to be nice to your "property" (i.e. only beat the crap out of them when they really get out of line). This is the Christian idea of civil rights? Wow.

  • @xTRUExHATEx First of all, you dont need to get your information about Christianity from youtube. Do some real research. Dont be ignorant.

  • If you as a human being can be owned as property, even if your "master" is "kind" and "gentle", your civil rights are STILL being violated, because as a human being you should NEVER be regarded as someone elses property. Even if the "owner" is not physically abusive.

  • you need to look at Hebrew slavery laws in detail before you can make an educated claim on this. One hint i can give is that the concepts of slavery between old and new testaments changed a little. If you really want to know more (and this is not just you throwing up a speed bump) then fang me a message.

  • Teaching Biblical Doctrine should not include the profession of St. Augustin of Hippo's Doctrine of Jurdicial Justification. I have heard this preached by this fellow on another video. Christians should not be told that Christ died to save US from God (Jurdicial Justification) but rather he died a RANSOM to save us from the power of Evil. There is a big difference here. People should not be led so easily by the preacher, but rather by the tradition of the original church (IMO - Eastern Orth

  • I'm excited for this Thanks Pastor Mark

  • where's his t-shirt gone? he's looking a bit smart for this one

  • Naw, he's done the untucked-collared-shirt thing many times before. The t-shirt and jacket thing didn't last long with him.

  • i am curious what his defintion of the word DISCERNMENT is

  • His definition is something like: "Discernment is telling what is true from what is almost true." Having listened to just about every sermon Driscoll has posted in the last three years, I can tell you he understands discernment. You see in this video that even basic membership at Driscoll's church requires doctrinal schooling and understanding. That's better than most churches today (which are more like clubs than churches)

  • that is what I believe when it comes to discernment and you are right:

most churches today are more like social halls than churches

  • can't wait.

  • Excellent can't wait.
