  • Very nice, very nice indeed. ESPECIALLY if it really is sight reading. :)

Trying to play this in the ensemble I'm in, and we haven't reached that speed, or skill yet, I hope we can end up sounding a little like you guys. :)

  • isn't the second theme,country wedding dance?

  • You all deserve credit for doing this. I imagine it is pretty difficult. Gareth Johnson will perform here next Sunday so I will hear it and Mendelssohn's Violin Concerto in E minor (my favorite on the violin). Keep up the good work, and just don't stop playing. The world could use more young people like you. Thank you.

  • nice job. pretty good for only a few hours of practice. To be honest , ive been learning this for a while, yet i cant do this very well.thanks for uploading!

  • Great though being a bass player in needs more of a deep sound

  • I think your viola was going a bit too slow and it got really noticeable mid-video. Try to work on being in sync and then it will sound MUCH better. More vibrato would help as well. Put your heart into the music.

  • This is a common arrangement. It's for strings only and is often used as a teaching tool. The arrangement includes the first and second themes, reappearance, and coda. The third (mermaid) and fourth (rapids) themes can't be made to work for strings only and are omitted.

This is very good for a sight performance. The second theme (wedding reception), which is scored for strings in the original, is excellent.

  • Really good for a sight reading but the violin 3 part was going extremely slow compared to 1&2. She also sounded like she needs to tune her d string (or g string) I play the viola so I'm not sure which one haha :) very nice though, took our orchestra three months to perfect ha.

  • what is your languag

  • @kuklagirl010: Heh, I hear the viola/3rd violin part. Maybe that's because I've played this and I play viola. I wish I could find the viola sheet to it but I lost it.

  • Nice job, not a horribly difficult piece, but only after 3 hrs it's nice... My only question: Why upload this to youtube???

  • yall shoul have hade bass n cello 2 make it sound more intersting

we playin dis song dis year for out concert nd we play gud if you wanna cum its on da 11th in May @ park way middle @ 7 o clock

  • The viola (violin 3) part was so beautiful! ^_^

  • this arrangement is not nearly as good as the original

  • Great Job Sight Rerading!!

  • i really love this song. I played it last year in orchestra. yes, some of the notes are off, but its just a sight reading. I love this song!!

  • without the rest of the orchestra it lacks something to be desired

  • we have to play this in region and its pretty easy and i'm only in 7th grad and i started last year :D

  • Can you please tell me who did thisarrangement and where did you buy it from??Thank you very much!

  • This arrangement was done by Robert Frost. I'm not sure exactly where you get it, but I can send you a violin 1 part if you wish.

  • quite nice haha

  • that was messed up(but u explained so ok) and i did get the general idea of what it needed 2 sound like so overall good help.

  • Pls if u want play masterpieces like this get more info about it.

First off all it was Bedrich Smetana one of the father czech national music.

Second Moldau its germany name for this theme use original name VLTAVA , like i write use Czech name for this song its little rude for me and my national feelings thx and good luck with yours practice.

  • Well, it's a bit shallow sounding, but ok for a young boys.

  • Awesome I have to send props to the performers for sight reading so well, but to be fair to the music; playing it with such few parts bastardizes it. Orchestral music is so unfulfilled when played in a lack luster manner like this, and for this piece it insults the composer and the imagery this music is capable of instilling upon listeners. Please do not get me wrong, for sight reading it was far better than I could achieve, but overall the music deserves the rich sound it was composed to have.

  • yay i luv this song and the 2nd violin prt. well i am but awesum

  • guys who play this are gay

but sounds not bad at all

    but . . . . a guy who this plays . . . .

  • what an ignorant statement from an ignorant person.......men in the past were all predominantly men!!! DWEM you probably don't know that

  • So a male who plays a specific song all of a sudden is physically attracted to other men? Makes sense.

  • sry but I was In a very bad mood

Much school work and I had to lissen to this

    found this and .. . . . .. .

    you know

  • it was ok..but still..guy on left (vincent?) was late in the begining...and i know u guys only had a couple hours to practice but common lol...how can u be behind on something that slow? =/

  • the guy in the middle is me (vincent)

  • yah u shuld get a cello. the cello parts fun

  • yo... u should have a cello in that

  • bravo

  • Original title is Vltava :-)

  • wow that is amazing it took me like 3 weeks to get the 2nd violin part

  • then you suck

  • You are really immature -.-;... Maybe she has only played a year or two. Please don't bs people when your only 10 O.O

  • lmao...well if i only played for a year or two i wouldnt record myself playing that badly....common the tone quality is shifty...im sorrry it is<_< (gimme thumbs down...i dont care..still wont change the fact its bad =_=)

  • sounds awesome, but needs my instrument.

    needs more cello.

  • Our orchestra took this to contest...we made a one. hellz yeah!! You guys rock!! Bravo!

  • Nice misic video programme

  • Awesome!!! =D

  • prosti sunteti voi ..dak aveti urechi de tabla c plm sa va fac yo voua?

  • I love this song!! My school is playing this for our Christmas concert. Apparently its a really popular piece among schools.

  • this was the peice for our string ensamble auditions (i am in 8th grade) and i made it in! but sadly in the regular orchestra i play 3rd violin but for this song i LOVE the 1st vilon part

  • That was done in 3 hours? o_O;

That's amazing for 3 hours. I play bass and it took me around a week to get the piece right for my school's chamber orchestra audition.

  • i love dat song i always playin it on my viola keep it up

  • i luv this piece! we played it in orchestra, but someone wuz behind in the beginning.

  • Yeah the girl was.

  • the piece itself is very nice but your version for 3 violins it's very interesting. nice work. by the way, where did you get those arrangements for 3 violins?

  • firati ai dreaq de prosti asa boccii nu am mai vazut sa moara sormea :))))

  • esti un prost mai nistorik .... un mare prost

  • we also sightread it in orchestra today for the firs time!!!!! i played the viola!!! love this piece!!! you guys are awesome!!!

  • played this in an audition......great song

  • this piece is kinda cool sounding but kinda hard especially when the rhythm changes for third violin thats the part im playing

  • Sight reading. Pressure like none other.

  • HARDCORE NEVER DIE!!!!

  • HAHA!

my schools orchestra played this piece, we butchered it.

and you guys are SIGHT READING!

    good job.

  • I came across your video because I wanted my 9 year old son to hear the music on which the Israeli national anthem is based. (We're Israelis, and he was asking me who composed our national anthem.) I think you did a great job.

  • you guys are good, but you occasionally become offbeat. my class playes it faster too btw.. (viola)

  • sight reading!!!!!!

    YAY YOU GO KIDS :D

    CONGRATULATIONS

  • today was like the first day i heard this song in chamber at our school. and i'm not that good --; and i'm gonna try and learn this piece:] thnks so much LOL:D

  • bah, this isn't that hard. the violas have a much, much harder part in this piece than any of the violins. I'd be a lot more impressed if someone were to sightread that.

other than that though, good job.

  • if you listen carefully, there is a viola part. and i play viola at my school and the part is most simplistic.

  • well, i've listened carefully to each of the three of them and none of those parts are the viola part. I'm not sure what version of this piece you played but in the "real" version the violas along with the cellos have the hardest part. you must have played a simplified version, that's the only way i can see you're point being valid.

  • This is THEMES of The Moldau, so yes you're right, it isn't the full blown version of the original Moldau. However, there IS a viola part played by the third violinist.

  • I'm just saying that this viola part is heavily simplified. The other two violinists play their parts in accordance with the actual "full blown moldau" but the 3rd violin/viola part played here is severely, overly simplified. My original point was that the real first violin part (which you pretty much played), compared to the real viola part (not this simplified part) is nowhere near as difficult.

  • I play this in orchestra 1st violin. :D

  • its realli realli good!

    asians rule!

  • i play this song in orchestra!! im 2nd violin!

  • You're good!

  • nice :D but, my 6th grade orchestra plays this like, WAY faster

    o.o

  • its called a sight reading darling and for it being that i would say that was excellent (:

  • our Bedřich Smetana, Vltava.. He's still in our hearts.. Čechy čechům.

Greetings from czech republic - prague.

  • Heh, you guys rock! we're playin this in our middle school. the only thing is that our second violins and all bassists except for me S-U-C-K!!! It's not too hard a song, but you guys did a good job on it =D

  • we're playing his song in school too, except we're playing this along another song, hero's journey.

my arms are gonna fall off

  • i'm playing this in my high school orchestra too. i can't get to play it right at allll. i don't think the other 10 could either.heh.

you three sound much much better than we do.

    :P

  • cool ill look it up and stalk u

    lol jk

nah i was just asking cuz my old middle school did the same thing

  • lol, okay...

  • I have to play thins song in our middle school Orchestra.

IT'S SO HARD!!!!! HOW THE HECK CAN YOU GUYS PLAY IT?????!!!!!!!!

  • what school do u go to?

  • I go to Twin Peaks

  • yea nevermind

i dont no wat school that is

  • lol it's in California.

    that's all I'm telling you

  • i hav to play this song for the juniour philharmonic

    its a beautiful song

but i coodnt sight read it like that

cuz im slightly dyslexic i always end up songing like shit on sight reading

    but still thats amazing

  • Jonathan. That was after an hour's worth of prep and sightreading? Impressive.

Oh..and I thought it was kind of funny around the :26 mark where you kept going up and down. hahahaa. Very nice playing though

  • painful. but not bad for a run-through like that

  • hey this is really good. my orchestra did this song last year, but it never sounded this good. we took it a littler slower. but wow this is really good. love this song.

  • hey that's great for an early run-through! nice job.

  • omg.

my last comment on this video was 6 months ago!

    lol

i remember when i first saw this piece

it took me like 2-3 weeks just to learn the whole thing

(i've been playing for only a year at the time)

    it's fun to look back

    this video really helped ;)

  • Very good! I enjoyed your performance!

  • great for sight reading

  • Nice playing but sometimes all tree parts doesnt go together. I know original very well and this one i dont like. Sorry for my oppinion.

  • no duh sherlock! it was the first time they played it. of course it wasnt perfect

  • That's you all playing from sight-reading? Awesome!

  • nice work

  • Nice sight reading...MOLJAM!!!

  • Thanks everyone for the positive comments and constructive criticism. And yes, this was a sight reading.

  • Comment removed

  • no "Bedtich" but Bedřich Smetana ;)

  • Yeah...typo... we already established that a long time ago. Too bad I can't edit the video once it's on youtube...

  • Wow, I wouldn't have been able to tell you just started, it came together well. I'm a violin player in high school as well.

  • im playing this duet on the piano, and it is much more beautiful on the violin, it would be very nice with a cello for the secondo also

  • What a success!!! Great!

  • Not bad for a sight reading, actually. But the way I played it in the old days of my orchestra, it was no offense, much better than this. But still, good job!

  • Very good for a sight reading!

  • I love this piece O_O

  • It's okay. Rhythm was a bit off, and the balance, I could barely hear the first violin. I hear the viola and secodn really well tho.

  • Actually, there was no viola playing at all, and this is the "Themes" of the moldau, so what your hearing is actually first violin. This version does not go on the original high octave of the Moldau. I personally dont hear the second violin as much as first...

  • sounds sweet.. i'm playing this myself in high school ensemble

  • you guys sound great! im playing this piece with cristine93 in the lausd jr/high honor strings esemble this monday. wish us luck!

  • wow this is fantastic for the little time you all had to prepare it. it sounds so great.

  • Well, it's very good, well played... I know that playing violin is very diffucult... I am Czech and this is our national jewel. Good work! but also you have much to learn;-)

  • this was played very VERY well !

    i'm so impressed.

i have to play this piece as well. for the honors orchestra ensemble.

are any of you part of it?

if so please contact me, i'm so curious

my rhytm is so wrong and i don't have very good dynamics.

    you guys are A+++

  • hey!! wow so thats what it sounds like XDD i like it now lol so i guess i have to practice for the next honor string ensemble rehearsal to sound as good as that lol

  • hello. just wondering but do u mean the lausd honor strings esemble? the jr/high?

  • i'm playing the country wedding part of this composition

  • Without an entire symphony this piece sounds so empty

  • Isn't it interesting...that Smetana means frosting in Bulgarian? But you say it differently. You accent the "ana" part.

  • I'm from the czech republic and I live in the city where Smetana was born and i think that it's totally song but I'm listening it every day and for me it's a little boring but you played it very good

  • oh man, really?

oh well, its still good. =]

  • I love this song <3

We're playing it in our orchestra. . .though I hate the sixteenth notes >.< I love the song!

Gonna play it at a competition ^_^

    Well played!

  • YAY! VIOLA PLAYER!

    we're playing this for orchestra.

thats a good cite reading. =]]

    btw, im in high school.

    that viola players really good.

  • Viola player? What viola player?

Haha, sorry, but its a violin playing the violin 3 alternative for the viola part =]]

  • This is an old Romanian-Transylvanian religious song, modified a little-bit by Smetana. Nowadays it is the national anthem of Israel.

  • wow, this is pretty good even though you were only sightreading. you got the rythm right (on most parts) and i'm impressed. lol i can't sightread that well, but i'm working on it! soo, good job!

  • Thanks! Sightreading just takes a lot of practice on different pieces. The more you sight read different songs, the better you are at understanding it quicker.

  • Thanks for the advice! Apparently my whole orchestra needs to work on sightreading too and that's what my conductor said, so thanks for the advice, I'll try it out!

  • im playing this right now in orchestra.

  • lol me too!

  • haha thas awesome! our chair test was the whole coda and i was so surprised when i got first chair!!

  • In fact it is not Moldau. Originally it is called Vltava, by river. Only Germanies sais it is called Moldau, but it is not truth, because Smetana was from the Czech Republic, so we should use name by him!

  • How interesting. Thanks for the information. But im afraid "Moldau" has been the overriding title of this song worldwide.

  • It sounds a lot like the piece I have to learn for an honor orchestra. I'm not sure because I don't have the music in front of me (it's in my case), but I vaguely recognize the cello part. Though it wasn't completely together, it was still really great, and gives me some idea of what I'm supposed to sound like. Especially considering I won't get to play with the actual honor orchestra until the day before our concert. Great job!

  • Thanks! Yeah i know its not together, but I'm glad it came of use for you. This wasnt a true trio for violins, we just took violin 1, violin 2, and violin 3 parts and played it. So no, you didnt here a cello part, but the violin 3(viola) sometimes matches up with the cello part. So thanks again for the comment!

  • by the way: it's Bedrich not Bedtich

  • Woah...oops. Ive always thought it was Bedtich. Crud...thanks for the tip. I changed the video info, but its still "bedtich" in the video...

  • Wow, thats really good considering that you just started learning it an hour ago. Good job, and is that some missy elliot in the background? Haha...

  • I love this song!

    you are super!

    very well :D

  • Thank You!

However, we did make a lot of mistakes in this song, its not even together, but thanks anyways!
