  • Those modems are bad about power backfeed. Something internally goes wrong and power backfeed gets back out around the f-connector at the back of the modem causing EMI and packet loss killing the SNR, thats why your modem wont sync more than likely. Those modems suck, get a new one and make sure your signal power is good coming in.

    The Cable Guy

  • i have this router, it sucks

  • i have that same brand of cablemodem it sucks

  • Hah I have the same modem (through Time Warner, not Cox),its that Cisco 2100.I just had the same problem with it not being able to connect to the net as well, just by the looks of the way its built, there is something about it that just screams "CHEAPLY MADE".The bastards at TW Cable didnt even have the decency to give me the Users Manual.

  • learn to speak american i cant understand indian

  • @92BMW318is Theres no such Language dude, i think you'l find its English..

  • haha call yourself for support, no but really if u have a splitter on the line on that thing its gonna be shoddy as hell. just go straight from the wall output for your cable and into your modem, bypass the tv and all. the tv your gonna have to find another cable output or you can split a line to the tv and that'll be fine.

  • Restart

  • haha cox XD

  • Fuck all I heard was I need my 7-11 place to be up and running with internet! LOL

  • Ask for a new one

  • I have the same problem but this time my modem went all the way shot. Modem rarely works and the status lights flash uncontrolably. I am going to get a new modem.

  • Good video here, good job

  • You should call cox for help they`ll do it for free

  • also they do not charge you if the signal going to your house is bad.

  • why don't you stop complaining and call for a technician to fix it? If you did a self installation you probably have no way of knowing if something is wrong with your house wiring or not. a tech would be able to fix that. that's why when you move into a new place, it's always better to get them to install it instead of yourself. they have equipment that we don't to make sure that it's working properly.

  • it is possible to connect to computers with the modem, like one with the USB and the other one with the cable?

  • Your computer has a virus cause i have cox internet and its really fast ALWAYS

  • also, they reset the connection without warning and i HATE that! i think i was better off with bellsouth [before it became at&t].

  • @bbykayrena actually u have a point

  • cox internet sucks bricks. i have it and it is slower than the commercials says it is. i was online the other day and the signal was lost for about 5 minutes. i couldnt even surf the web. it has done that before, so i called customer support and they were not clear at all. i told them about the connection and they told me everything was fine on their end. so i fixed it myself.

  • cox sucks ass period i cant even play online anymore couse of these cheap fucks..200$ a fucking month? haha yeeaa fuck that .fuck all u fags

  • According my experience on webstar cable modems there are 2 reasons the cable modem LED is blinking.

First the cable modem doesnt have strong signal.

Troubleshooting: Get an analog TV and hook up the cable on the antenna and tune the TV at cable channel 65-72. If you see any TV signal coming on the screen with a lot of snow than the signal is too weak because there is a loose connection, or the cable is broken.

  • In this case you need to run a new cable in the house or purchase 2-way cable booster. A regular TV booster is not going to work because it works one way.

If the TV signal is clear then see bellow.

  • Second the modem is trying to get new IP address from the COX server. All residential modems using DHCP IP address witch is released approximately every 90 days and only business service is using static IP address. In this case remove the power supply and wait a minute and plug it back. In worst case scenario call COX to troubleshoot.

  • You should get one of those. They work so much better. But only that one kind, right there. Make sure its THAT kind. Travino said way too much. He should get one of those. They work so much better. DSRP 09 We Remember Catalina Island

  • All you need is a cable amplifier to boost the signal. Check ebay

  • I see walmart cable there. You need to have a service tech verify the problem. Modems don't intermittenly work for no reason. These modems don't fail that often, and when they do, they go completely out. You have a signal issue.

As a tech I can almost guarantee it. Don't blame the company when you don't understand how it works. High speed internet is very fragile and needs a solid coax environment with signals within specified range.

  • Switch to DSL, far more stable.

  • Comment removed

  • hey do you know where could i download the driver for it and yeah it happends to me too

  • Ignorant.

  • burn in hell cox

  • Hey the problems not with the modem its with the connection u must b having a hathway internet connection dont u

  • fyi, run your modem off the first split, s.a. and webstar modems are bullshit, call a tech if you don't have a dsam or 1750 meter, 1000mhz splitter compressed rg6 fittings and a compression tool and where do you live that cox cable still exists?

  • DONT BE CHEAP HAVE A TECH HOOK IT UP

  • if you were to google any company, just ________ sucks, any given company you will find thousands of people bitching. if you dont like the service disconnect it or pay more money for a better service then the folks at the call center of that company might take you seriously when you call. i have cox for my home services and its sweet

  • its normally in hour house wiring or wiring on your property that goes to the pedestal or pole. Every time i buy a house, i replace the wiring entirely. Usually the wiring is neglected and old. I don't let wiring get older than 5 years without replacement. Also if you have outlets you don't use, disable them and get reduced splitting. If you have too many jacks or overly extended wiring, you may also need a signal amp somewhere before all the branching.

  • this modem is the number one rated modem in the usa right now i have 2 and both work flawlessly no problems from my isp time warner.

  • you people who complain about your cable not working and dont call and have a tech come out and fix your problem need to shut the hell up. 95% OF PROBLEMS THAT I GO AND FIX ARE CUSTOMERS RELATED OR PROBLEMS IN THE HOUSE WIRING!!!

  • You rock! Nothing better then a customer who is screaming and swearing and blaming the company when it was their wiring all along.

  • Those who cant wait for another cable provider in their area. It will never happen. Why? States that no more than 1 cable company can be in one area. Also, their headquarters can not be in a city that they service. Crazy yea? Dont believe me? Look up any cable provider and find out where they are. Cox is in ATL = no cox. So Nesseight, it will never happen. And the bad service -If you sounded like dumb f and whiner, you probably got treated like one. "when I was complaining" I prove my point.

  • headquarters can only be in one place, that's why they call it headquarters. Cox has central stations and local call centers for every major metropolitan area.

  • lmao, this is funny. People dissing one company for another. Voip isnt worth it because if your power goes out, your internet is out unless you have backup battery where as cox doesnt need a backup battery. It has it built in through their system.

  • i can still get on the internet when the power goes out. I have a backup power system in my home office.

  • Also, I don't give a fucking flying shit in hell about their shitty TV or phone service. Anything worth watching is either possible to rent, or download, and VoIP solutions such as Skype and Gizmo are far better than anything those Coxuckers could provide, all you need is Internet and so long as they don't illegally filter VoIP traffic to enforce their monopoly, all they can do is promise faster Internet if you sign up with their shittier services.

Besides, everyone has cellphones these days...

  • Cox showed a real smart-ass attitude towards me on the phone once when I was complaining about a problem that was blatantly and obviously on their end.

They should consider themselves lucky that the only viable alternative to their Internet service in my area is DSL from an even sleazier company called "Qwest". I hope other cable providers (comcast, charter, something other than them and fresh) eventually come to AZ and provide competition to this annoying and probably illegal monopoly.

  • cox rules look at our new deals, also free service calls, you could have called cox and they would have sent a tech to come fix your issue

  • Cox sucks period. They've been acussed of nasty business conduct for years, and always find some way to annoy a customer into paying for a more expensive service. Now they want you to pay for digital cable to watch black and white films on the Turner Classic Movies channel by switching to digital only. It's fucking stuff like this they use to get people subscribed to their more expensive crap. Stay away from Cox.

  • It is the forward level or the reverse transmitt level is off. the cable light is flashing trying to range to lock on to the system. you need a direct line from the drop cable outside to the modem

  • if u have a laptop u should get sprint wireless card just in case.

  • cox sucks

  • Not Cox. It is cable modem sucks!

  • cox sucks ,they treat there employees like crap...

  • look on the side of your modem, if the date of manufacture is 05/05 the modem is shit.

  • We had the same problem. I do not recommend getting satellite to replace cable. That is the route we took and it is a nightmare. Yes, even worse than Cox. It never accured to me that it may be the cable modem at fault. Please come back and tell us how you make out with a new modem should you decide to get one.

  • i have that same modem ,,,,,, what does it mean when the receive is blinking and im not online

  • one last thing, make sure you swap out the modem just in case it's the modem. but i'm guessing it's the line, most likely bad splitters or squirell chew on the line or corrosion because of water. inernet almost NEVER goes down with cable. it's your individual lines that are bad.

  • NEXT, make sure the dmark point where the cable splits on the side of your house, make sure all connections are clean and the first splitter should go directly to you modem. UNLESS you have phone service then it would be the second split. I am a cable contractor if you need help.

  • Everything from the Tap has to be checked. Connectors are a big part. Make sure all connectors or fittings are crimped correctly and are tight with rubber grommets protecting from water. next make sure if it's an undergroud cable from the tap that you have conduit.

  • It's a flux compositor issue, may need some more packet fluid poured into the top of the modem. This will help the attenuation on the upstream.

  • lmao!!! Yeah! thats it. Then, off to the future you shall be.

  • If this a Self Install get rid of the Radio Shack stuff. You have to run a direct line from the first splitter all the way to the modem. The modem is a direct line from the first splitter.

  • Its a SA modem. Get a Motorla, the lights dont work right as its a firmware issue. But yeah eaither the sig is too low or return is too high.

  • PC light is for connection between the modem and the computer. The cable light flashes like that meaning it is ranging but I am sure the reverse is very high on it. Signal level is the issue, you need a tech out there to check it out.

  • um that data light tells you theres data being transfed to your pc back and forth.. Read the dam manual.. Cox tech support is the shit. The people who call them need the help LOL

  • that is true!
