The last time I was in this mall was in July, 1979. There was a pinball machine arcade on the west side. They also had primative videogames there like, Asteroids and..........hmmmmm? There was a Sears security guard who used to follow people demanding to search their bags. I watched, as my friends gave him the finger and walked away laughing. My friend and I also roped off an aisle in K-Marts using a "Stretch Armstrong's" arms. Ah, yes..the South Hills Mall.
this shit was poppin in the 70s/80s. basically the first indoor mall in Dutchess County (aside from Dutchess mall which was always shit, nbd). Don't be joking about it though, this place was practically home to most teens and others back in the day. RIP.
Media Play? yea I remember. How about Fun Central?!? And then their was always that Japanese store that always stayed open. I miss this place kinda, part of my childhood memories.
Its so wierd that it is gone forever. But we all knew its days were coming to en end.
What do you mean Fun Central? Fun Central was never in the South Hills Mall...it's still on rt. 9 Wappingers. Are you talking about Dream Machine & Dream Machine 2? They were the two arcade in SHM...the big one by K-Mart and the little guy by Sears near where the movie theatre still is
I remember getting toys at the Burger King. Sometimes I actually dream about this mall... it was so empty near the end. I remember also Media Play, I think there was a pretzel place... and I had piano lessons at Vincintore's I think.

This, sadly...used to be the place to go back in the 80's. Glad they are redoing it...fucking depressing to go in there before it was torn down.
