There are a number of different kinds of funnelweb spiddies - this doesn't look like the Sydney variety to me. The bulldog ants bite and sting viciously, and this spider would be paralysed from the stings. I understand that these ants are about 2cm long; if so, then that's one big mother of a spider, destined to be dinner for a colony of bull ant larvae for some time! Good video. You were lucky the ants were preoccupied with the spider and didn't turn their attention on you!

@darkstars101 I think you'd find it doesn't affect the ants, either because it has neutral effect on them or because they avoid the venom glands in any case these ants did sting the spider to death. Yes, their venom kills spider, its venom fails to kill them. Spider delivers venom only by its biting parts and the ants were probably all successful in avoiding that. CSIRO the Australian science institution would know for sure.
