@fishtankpetclub Thank you for your lovely comment. Unfortunately, that lovely pice of bogwood has been taken over by black beard (red) algae and I so far have found nothing to get rid of it. This has made the tank look dark and made it a bit smelly too. Any ideas, anyone? On the plus side the two severums have made babies and I now have two 2.5 inch additional sevs to the tank. The EB Jack Dempsey is pushing 7 inches now!

@fishtankpetclub I suppose that it is inevitable that anything organic will decay in the end. That bogwood fitted beautifully. It is really hard to find suitable pieces of rock or stone which will stay where you put them. Never mind, the main thing is that your fish are thriving so you must be getting 99% right! Don't be discouraged!

Very nice. Love the Severum! How do you find the canister filter plumbed in through the base glass? Ever had any issue with the water leaking? If there a risk of draining the water by accidentally removing a connection when maintaining the canister filter?

@AquaLifeWarrnambool hi there - no problems at all with leakages. When you remove the canister from the piping you make sure the clamp is shut. You can then open the clamp once you have a bucket underneath to drain the water. It is so much more convenient Ithan a standard canister. I give the gravel a hoover then drain the remaining water that I need to change from the bottom and simply shut off the clamp when I have enough.
