after you initially bring your rook to H1...what's wrong with black playing Kg7. The rook can be brought into action and there's no check on the king. it just seems like a stronger move but i'm bad at in depth analysis.
I've been in whites position many times and probrably would have drawn that game with no real material advantage. But I'll look for that play in the future.
I play against my father since about 10 years and I defeated him for the first time today and i really think you were a big part in that victory THX !
There are different words for it, but, it isn't meant disrespectfully at all.
Everyone does it, up to and including Fisher, though his, from the pinnacle he sat on, was profound, eh? Reading is a good way to relax, although good chess books are fewer and further apart now-a-days. However, there is Musashi, a great book in five volumes honing character. Movies, Kingdom of Heaven, Funny Bones
rook to h1 was obvious for white, but the following move for white in my favor would have been queen to h5. I cant think of a line following, but perhaps you could finish the line for me JRobi? :]]
Will you ever do some basic strategy for beginner? I am myself a beginner and most of the video i see on your channel are what if a serie of specific moves happens. but the odds of these series to happens are rare and never happens in my games. I would like to see basic tips, like what is a good opening, what do you have to be careful about when you open with certain pawns, when is it a good move to sacrifice a piece, when should you queen trade and when should you save your queen?
Queen to F5 check ... then I will take his pawn with the rook, his kind will be in either G7 or G8 if it was on G7 I will check him again with my rook and take his lovely queen if he was on G8 I will check from G6 with my rook he will go back to H7 or H6 in either was I will check mate him with my other rook from H1 xD
I would have played f4 ... B has to take with exf, otherwise I could push the pawn to f5 what could become very annoying ... After exf and gxf it's not possible to take back with gxf because g5 is pinned, so I could get the pawn to f5 again and put pressure behind with a rook
When I first saw this video, I thought of the check immediately at the pause, but I didn't catch the pin at 6:03 nor the rook pressure on the H file. Even when I get an answer, I always manage the learn something from you. Keep up the good work, and have a Merry Christmas!
NICE VIDZ JROBI..!! Cant U Put Chess Games Against Chess Engine Like FRITZ or WINBOARD.... That We Can See Some Perfact Gamez... u knw.. Great positional gamez.... I think ppl will like it...
at 2:16 I would have played Q-F5, expecting Q-f5+, K-g7, Rxh6, K-xh6 R-h1+, K-g7 R-h7+ K-g8 Q-g6+ and then either ... K-f8 R-h8++ or .. Q-g7, QxQ++ All is forced unless black gives up H6 pawn and attack is still forthcoming.
hey jrobichess, i love your vids, I wanted to ask you if you've played against the chessmaster grandmaster edition? If yes what do you think of the software?
Finaly we get to see you posting a new vid :) , your awesome and you should coach me for free , i have a turnement tomorrow il try to snag a pic while playing ^ .^
Welcome back! I think white had the advantage because the positioning of black's king and queen was preventing his rooks from getting into a better position.
yeh man ino what you mean as much as i love playing chess i go through periods of major frustration and lose drive and motivation, just glad your back
You have much more patience than I do, because in a blitz game I would go for a rook sacrifice on h6, bring out my second rook and try to start a mating pattern... I hate quiet moves....
Welcome back! I haven't really been playing chess too much lately -mainly because of papers and finals coming up. My first instinct was Queen move to f-5! Like you pointed out in your video.
quick question- at 2:11 wouldn't a better move have been queen to f5, placing the black king in check and allowing you to take the pawn on h6 next turn?
Very entertaining endgame. I wanted to play f4 as soon as I saw the opening seconds of the video. Of course Rh1 was better, but I think f4, opening up the f file to the black king, is also winning.
The holiday chess pictures sound like a terrific idea.
Would love it if you did some live blitz with commentary! Don't know if you know, but kingscrusher actually complemented your channel a few times somewhat recently, which had me thinking how fun it'd be to see you start regularly making live commentary blitz games.
Qf5 was my first thought. Enjoyed the game. It reminds me of a classic Bobby Fischer game (from his youth). I can not remember who the appointed was....now I am going to dig around for the book. Gee I read it about 30 years ago, ouch.
Anyway, have a great Xmas and look forward to future videos.
This happened to me too several times. It always comes back. 2 things that help are changing the clock settings (increasing the time) & trying to see how many moves I can make in a row without making a mistake. There's really no need to lose an opening that has been well studied, so even on my bad days I reason that I should not lose the openings. The middle & end games are helped most by the extra time.
All I want for Christmas is new, long videos ( your full game analysis). Hope to see some crazy- weird (Tal like) games too :). Keep the great work up and Merry Christmas!
@alliedn00b That's a solid move as well. Play could continue F4, exf4, gxf4 and white has a solid position of around +0.7. Stronger than rh1 actually. Thanks for sharing and checking out the vid!
It happen to me too. =) Its normal. Were happy your back!!!
Dracko42 7 months ago
Why not play Qf5? If he captures, you get a passed pawn which is easily reinforced by g4, while if he doesn't capture you've avoided the queen trade.

Why not f4 instead of Rh1?
After Rh1 Kg7 much better than Kh7. After Qf5+ King can still go to g7, and not force to go to g8.
No offense but the quality of play is not high by any means.
