Why not play Qf5? If he captures, you get a passed pawn which is easily reinforced by g4, while if he doesn't capture you've avoided the queen trade.

after you initially bring your rook to H1...what's wrong with black playing Kg7. The rook can be brought into action and there's no check on the king. it just seems like a stronger move but i'm bad at in depth analysis.

Why not f4 instead of Rh1?

After Rh1 Kg7 much better than Kh7. After Qf5+ King can still go to g7, and not force to go to g8.

Will you ever do some basic strategy for beginner? I am myself a beginner and most of the video i see on your channel are what if a serie of specific moves happens. but the odds of these series to happens are rare and never happens in my games. I would like to see basic tips, like what is a good opening, what do you have to be careful about when you open with certain pawns, when is it a good move to sacrifice a piece, when should you queen trade and when should you save your queen?

Queen to F5 check ... then I will take his pawn with the rook, his kind will be in either G7 or G8 if it was on G7 I will check him again with my rook and take his lovely queen if he was on G8 I will check from G6 with my rook he will go back to H7 or H6 in either was I will check mate him with my other rook from H1 xD

I would have played f4 ... B has to take with exf, otherwise I could push the pawn to f5 what could become very annoying ... After exf and gxf it's not possible to take back with gxf because g5 is pinned, so I could get the pawn to f5 again and put pressure behind with a rook

at 2:16 I would have played Q-F5, expecting Q-f5+, K-g7, Rxh6, K-xh6 R-h1+, K-g7 R-h7+ K-g8 Q-g6+ and then either ... K-f8 R-h8++ or .. Q-g7, QxQ++ All is forced unless black gives up H6 pawn and attack is still forthcoming.

You have much more patience than I do, because in a blitz game I would go for a rook sacrifice on h6, bring out my second rook and try to start a mating pattern... I hate quiet moves....

Very entertaining endgame. I wanted to play f4 as soon as I saw the opening seconds of the video. Of course Rh1 was better, but I think f4, opening up the f file to the black king, is also winning.

Qf5 was my first thought. Enjoyed the game. It reminds me of a classic Bobby Fischer game (from his youth). I can not remember who the appointed was....now I am going to dig around for the book. Gee I read it about 30 years ago, ouch.

This happened to me too several times. It always comes back. 2 things that help are changing the clock settings (increasing the time) & trying to see how many moves I can make in a row without making a mistake. There's really no need to lose an opening that has been well studied, so even on my bad days I reason that I should not lose the openings. The middle & end games are helped most by the extra time.

what if you just did f4 after h6? seems like a reasonable attack though the g file could cause problems.
