Just saw them supporting Steeleye Span last week at the Barbican....their music was completely unknown to me before then. I must say I was completely blown away ! Wonderful musicianship , a complete revelation...I now own 5 Strawbs CDs !
Simple visions come to me...I was blind but now I see! What a blast from the past. I would be lost in this music when I was 15 years old...I was watching some old YES video and thought to type Strawbs in and now I too have tears in my eyes. Thanks for posting this., really.
OHHH MY GOD!!!! I'm in tears right now. This brings back so many great memories of listening and going too see great bands like this. My best friend and I absolutely loved this band. We saw them live twice. They were tremendous. But too see them in this video, a recent performance, i'm blown away. Thank-you Saprophitic, for making my day.
saw them in Kingston Ontario Canada in the 70s...i was so excited to see them.. I had the first strawbs album in town... HERO AND HEROINE was my first entry.... then of course discovered older stuff..i think they were called THE STRAWBERRY HILL BOYS at one time..of course there was Rick Wakeman... amazing song writing... and uh. psssst.... DAvey Cuzz could hit notes easier in those days.... ROCK ON DAVID.
I had a boyfriend in the 70s who was very into the Strawbs. glad to see they're still around and will be on l LI this month I am playing this on my radio show as a tribute.THANKS for posting.
This brings back great memories of my older brother playing his records in the basement of our home in small-town Quebec in the Seventies. He introduced his siblings to a lot of great bands and one of the best of those bands was The Strawbs. Thanks for posting this.
Beautiful performance. Weird mix (Lambert's guitar is mixed too low in the first half, as is Cronk's bass throughout...or maybe it's my speakers), but fantastic renditions of two great songs. Excellent guitar work by Dave C. at the beginning.
The Strawbs never got the recognition that they deserved. Acoustic or electric one of the best bands around in the early 70's.Great songs .If you get a chance to see them live you will agree, thanks Dave

Unfortunately the planned multitrack sound mix didn't happen, so all I had was camera sound plus a few other bits and pieces.
Glad you enjoyed the performance.
