saw Roy haynes at the montreal jazz festuval in 98 and Corea's acoustic band in 2004. Great moments. From the last post it sounds as if Roy haynes passed away. I hope i am wrong. A truly great drummer just like Elvin Jones who i had the great pleasure of seening and being introduced to by my drum teacher at a drum workshop in Montreal in 1974.
this a classic!!! I was just listening to TRIO MUSIC - that along with Now He Sings, Now He Sobs can be considered two of the greatest jazz trio albums in history. Chick Corea playing in the late60/s and 70s was highly innovative and this trio remains unsurpassed!!!!!!!!
Miroslav's command of the bass is astonishing, as always. Also, this must be one of the very few versions of Autumn Leaves that has maintained my attention throughout. Only a trio of giants like this one can turn such a trite, overplayed song into a gem. Thanks for the video!
Certainly one of the best trios... right up there with Keith Jarrett's in terms of abstract creativity. These guys are certainly further "out" though.
Except for the fact that it was probably chopped off so that you didn't hear "Autumn Leaves followed by..." and if you watch far enough they do in fact play Rhythm-a-Ning. So poo!
Truely artistic and Roy just keeps it righ in the pocket.I wish that I were some youger back in that time, I would have washed his car for drum lessons... free of charge that is. God Bless him and Elvin Jones, the other true GIANT.
this has got to be the only trio that could switch instantaneously from Autumn Leaves to Rhythm-a-Ning and make it sound fucking great.

It's so weird seeing such an aristocratic audience listening to this wacky, ass kicking trio

i am guessing this is from (more or less) the same period a "Sings/Sobs" ?? Looks like Chick is wearing the same jacket as on the album cover !!
Are those members in the audience really THAT CLOSE to the piano ?? !!

I was a bit confused for some reason I thought this was going to be rythmning. Boy was I confused.

Haha! I'm right up there with ya. Maybe Chick gets the two tunes confused sometimes...
