To be fair, this is only half an hour in the week. For the rest of parliamentary business they are much more collaborative, but, of course, PMQs is what we all get to see on TV. PMQs was only put into its current TV-friendly format by Tony Blair in 1997 with the aim of engaging the public, so it was his New Labour experiement that made the system much more sound-bite friendly. Of course arguing different positions can be helpful when it's done less superficially though.
