gram was amazing but he just wanted to play with the stones , him bailing on south africa was nothing more than that, a very talented artist who got caught up in needle drugs, and threw away his talent and life for nothing, someone who had class and coulda been more than he was, wasted for something not.

Chuck Willis (d. 1958). Same guy that wrote C.C. Rider. Poor man only made it to age 30. This cover version by the FBB is really, really good. Love the vocal harmonies and those opening guitar chords. Lots of depth and feeling in this tune.
