Buddhism means, give up loving everything which you feel it's really yours, the fact is when it's lost you will feel sad and when you stay with it, also you will suffer coz you cannot leave it.
there's nothing in this world owned to us. But if you could understand yourself you will never trying to hate / love anyebody or anything. It means you have abandoned birth in next life.
Ahhh.... The Christians are back at it again. Ridiculing anything outside their narrow grasp. Listen to them pick and nibble at the edges of this philosophy. As they lack the philosophical depth to tackle Buddhism they resort to belittling , mocking, discrediting ... as if they owned exclusive rights to human thought.
It is a shame that the ego has taken control of man's mind. It seems it is the ego reacting, not the mind. Unfortunately, to be challanged or corrected excites the ego and it reacts to protect itself; to protect it's beliefs. The Buddha and Jesus have teachings of love. What enjoyment do we get from fighting over who said it? Focusing on the wrong part of the story chases away the moral of it. It is a lot easier to make fun of one's teaching. To walk the path of it, that's another story.
I am sorry that by posting this film about human love and understanding I would receive all these hateful messages of people that pretend to be Christians. Jesus's words are all about love.

Hmmm, why do people put their faith in a fat, overweight bald man? Hey Buddha, have another box of Twinkie’s and save my soul!!! Sounds stupid doesn't it! Best of all Buddha claims he is NOT God so why are so many people kneeling down to him, asking for things? COME OUT OF HER MY PEOPLE, I AM YAHUWAH, HAVE NO OTHER GOD'S BEFORE ME!
Because you arean ignorant person who has never seen a statue of Buddha, and thinks that the version most north americans are familiar with is Buddha.
@JamesThWilliams You never answered my question becuse you can't and everyone knows the "Budda" Idol has always been a fat bellied, balled man wearing what looks like a diaper! Doesn't matter your Budda God bows down to my Living Yahuwah! Your a fool and TRUTH HURTS doesn't it!
If you actually went to Asia you would see statues of Siddartha and not the laughing Buddha. Those statues are skinny. Buddha is not a god, and your god doesn't exist.
@JamesThWilliams Yes it is, go to the Torah of the book “The Scriptures’” (Ancient Hebrew text) not the King James or any other tampered with version and do your homework! It is not spelled "Yahweh" I always love it when people speak from ignorance!
The reason that you only see Fat Bald Buddhas is because that is the Chinese Culture of fortune integrated with Mahayana Buddhism. That kind of Buddhism is made because Chinese people don't really understand Buddhism because it doesn't have a god, so they try to make Buddha look like a god. A fat god as well, to imply wealth.
I find that Fat Buddha fake and disgraceful to the real Buddha.
@Sanimangas Obvious that the Chinese (in the old days) didn't understood Buddhism and hence fat Buddha. The real Buddha would have never over- eaten. The real Buddha would not want a statue made of him either.
Sidartha lived on one cup of rice per day for the last several years of his life. It wasn't possible for him to be over weight. Forget obese. And a loin cloth is not a diaper, do you expect some one from ancient asia to be wearing jeans and a tee shirt?

each spoke radiate out to the rim represent a different religion. each religion is practiced in different ways, but all the spokes point back to the same spot right in the center of the wheel. it points to the one and only creator GOD. but not all spokes are perfect, some are solid, strong, firm and divine, some are weak and corroded. but only one is broken and can't reach the center.
he he. the meaning is what goes around comes around. it's not necessery to born as a cow. if you hurt someone you will get the same or more suffering in this lifetime or next.
Do you think you know better what Buddhists believe than, say... Buddhists? Don't you think Buddhism is just whatever Buddhists say it is, by definition?
And why do you keep refusing to spell 'Buddha', 'Buddhism', and 'Buddhist' right? Is it the thing about 'making no mention of other gods' in your religion? Well don't worry, because Buddha was not a god and never claimed to be. Nor was anybody else. Gods are imaginary friends for grown ups.
I just think it's interesting you believe you are fooling your god with that little loophole. But whatever.
Yes it is absurd to believe EVERYTHING is the result of random uncontrolled events. That's why I didn't say that. Organised complexity needs a non-random explanation: and we have it. It's called natural selection. No god required.
Dont tell me formation of the universe was natural selection!!
Who put the earth on the precise distance fromt he sun so that it will be just perfect to support life. If the eath is nearer or further to and from the sun by a few thousand kms life will be impossible. And if you know about probability, it is about one in a trillion tillion!!
No, I only said high complexity came by natural selection- the only phenomenon needing non-random explanation.
As for 'earth's position' arguments, u r working back from the present. It's as though I dealt you 5 cards, and u said 'wow, what r the odds of me getting THESE particular 5 cards out all 52 in the deck! You must've DELIBERATELY dealt me these 5'.
The universe is vast. It's only probable that a few places, somewhere/sometime, will just happen to hit jackpot. Same as the lottery.
You say earth landing in the exact position is a jackpot. Same way, the eath having the perfect atmosphere, topography, vegetation, weather, chemical composition will also be jackpots.
What you are saying is like we hitting a trillion jackpots at the same time and each having less than one in a trillion chance.
It looks you are very bad in your probability and statistics!
Now you're just embarrassing yourself. Your calculation of 'one in a trillion chance' is based on the working-back-from-the-present fallacy. Playing lottery, your chances of winning can be millions to one. But with enough people playing over a long enough period of time, eventually it BECOMES probable that someone, somewhere, will win. But working back from the present, they could just talk about the millions to one odds against and so conclude the lottery was rigged for them to win. Absurd.
Think on it: a bird flys over and shits on ur head. U could say 'wow, what r the odds of the shit being exactly that size, shape, texture, smell etc., as opposed to all the other ways it could've been? What r the odds of me walking by at that exact place and time, and the bird flying at that exact place and time? What r the odds...'
U can ask questions like these forever, and eventually u'll come to wateva figure of improbability u like. Doesn't mean someone designed 4 the bird shit on u.
Now think on the UNINTELLIGENT design: there's hostile planets, exploding stars, colliding galaxies, black holes, 6 billion or so comets in the solar system any of which can hit us any time, and have done in the past, alongside shifting climate changes also causing extinction, and a future when the sun swallows the earth...
If a human had designed something this bad, he'd be fired and sued as a dangerous incompetent. And u want me to believe an all knowing, all powerful being designed it?? Ha
After being enlightened, Buddha did not believe in worshiping any idols and teachings or belief system existed then. However, it is sad to say that we Buddhist are practicing something Buddha himself opposed - ie worshiping his statue. True Buddhist is one who is well aware of life, death, nature, and universe and accept its law, not the one who visit monastery every weekend to offer to the statue of Buddha.
I make a distinction between the Philosophical Buddhism that Buddha taught, where you rely on reason and experience, without defering to authority and tradition or accepting superstitious beliefs; and Religious Buddhism, which disregards all that and makes Buddha's teachings just another religion.
Sadly the religious tolerance of Buddhism, which made it good, also meant that it syncretised with native superstitions; which was not so good.
What Buddah taught is even more confusing. He has taught you are in control of your won destiny and you are the one make things happen. So Buddists, when a calamity happens cant stop blaming themselves and easily pushed to suicicde. This perhaps is the main reason whey the Buddist countries have some of the highest suicide rates in the world.
This is 'karma'. Karma just meant 'action'- your actions have consequences- but others later took it as a metaphysical principle entailing that whatever happens to you is your fault.
I may be wrong. But he did say to not believe anything just 'cos he said it. Even if he DID say a lot of superstitious nonsense, we could just dismiss it and it wouldn't make his core teaching, the 4 Noble Truths, any less valid. Just like dismissing Newton's Occultism doesn't mean we have to dismiss Gravity.
Unlike physical reaction, moral reaction needs the intervervention or judgement of an intelligent entity. The Buddists beleive if you harm someone you will be harmed the same way. But it has to be done by an intelligent entity. If there is no God who is doing it then?
If you kill a person, other people put you in jail. If you go to war, you will lose many lives even if you win. This is simply your actions having consequences. It doesn't require an 'intelligent entity'. When was the last time God came down and punished anybody for anything? Most of the time people use God as just another justification for evil deeds- THEY think what they're doing is right, so they think god must be on their side. So in answer to your question, it takes mortals to punish evil.
Buddists believe if someone hurts a cow they will be born as a cow int he next life and will get the same treatment. My question is if there is no God who makes the jugements and gives the reward or punishment?
I think I made the distinction between Philosophical Buddhism and Religious Buddhism a few posts ago. Ask your question to a Religious Buddhist, because it's not a belief I hold, and is therefore irrelevant.
Um, the 3 Marks, 4 Noble Truths, and 8fold Path are the crux of Buddhism. Buddha said 'I teach one thing and one thing only: the cessation of suffering'. Nothing about rebirth there.
You seem to be stuck on the idea of Buddhism as only meaning Religious Buddhism. Whatever; whether I can be called a Buddhist or not is nothing but a semantic quibble, and so it's trivial and irrelevant. Either way, I don't believe in rebirth and so your question doesn't apply to me.
If there is no rebirth why do you bother so much about this nirvana thing??
All the poojas, meditations in the jungles, refraining from eating meat and alcohol, shunning the world and becomming monks are directed towards avoiding rebirth!! It loos you are one confused soul.
Once again, everything you just mentioned are traits of Religious Buddhism.
If you want to criticise what I actually believe, rather than just deciding what I believe and then saying I'm confusing MYSELF when I'm only confusing your stereotype, you must falsify the 3 Marks or the 4 Noble Truths. That is it, and that is all.
@alfulani5 We worship the Buddha as a matter of respect, not because we think of him as a god. Buddha only spoke of the path to end suffering, he did not speak of worshiping any god :)
"do not accept anything, know matter who says, even if i say it..until u can verify it, understand it, experience it, n its benefits you then n only then should you accept it"- I don't think that is a lie, I think that is called being investigative, intelligent and introspecting..no blindfaith, no following something because its written in a book, because God said it, because lots of ppl follow it, because your parents, ur relatives ur friends n teachers do it..only accept it if it makes sense
Because i practice buddhism for many years and reached enlightenment, yet when i died last year i still went to hell. At the end i was asked 'do you accept Christ into your heart?' i said yes. Then 'There are 2 doors. If you choose the Satan door you may return to life, but if you chose the Christ Door you will face certain death.' i chose the Christ Door and Jesus returned me to life. Satan is a LIAR! Reincarnation is a myth!
Wow, I would really love to see this fully! I am very interested in how practicioners of Buddhism in India regard the Buddha. Buddhism is very much associated with Eastern Buddhism in the West that I have difficulty to understand it in its original Indian concept. Thank you Mr. Meissonnier!
zawyein, dun get caught in his trap! Your response is exactly what intruders like fuckjoon luv. Think, why would he write stupid comments like that? Just to stirr emotions and have fun. So, deny his enjoyment by ignoring his comment totally. When no one bothers about him, he'll go. If you believe in karma, he'll definitely get his own share of 'beautiful' language from others. Let his own Karma takes care of him, dun spoil yours.
So, subtitles and links to the film or anything else like that would be nice. Is this a film just for youtube or is it in theaters or what? Thank You.
The film "Life of Buddha" can be found on Amazon. There is a french, German, English version and I hear they just released a spanish version in Spain.
I think this is just a documentary. Buddha is scheduled to be released on may 2008. It will be a movie (not documentary) based on "old path white clouds"
Where can I watch the whole documentary? I used to be a catholic, but I found more peace in Buddhism. Buddha Bless

religions are like the spokes of a wheel
each spoke radiate out to the rim represent a different religion. each religion is practiced in different ways, but all the spokes point back to the same spot right in the center of the wheel. it points to the one and only creator GOD. but not all spokes are perfect, some are solid, strong, firm and divine, some are weak and corroded. but only one is broken and can't reach the center.
it is islam
the only false religion in the world

Apparantly very few Buddists understand Budism!!
alfulani5 2 years ago
Do you think you know better what Buddhists believe than, say... Buddhists? Don't you think Buddhism is just whatever Buddhists say it is, by definition?
And why do you keep refusing to spell 'Buddha', 'Buddhism', and 'Buddhist' right? Is it the thing about 'making no mention of other gods' in your religion? Well don't worry, because Buddha was not a god and never claimed to be. Nor was anybody else. Gods are imaginary friends for grown ups.
sam51092 2 years ago
First, Budism is no an English word, and comments on You Tube are not graded for spelling accuracy. so why bother as long as the point is conveyed.
It is absurd it is to believe this universe and everything therein are the result of random uncontrolled events.
alfulani5 2 years ago
I just think it's interesting you believe you are fooling your god with that little loophole. But whatever.
Yes it is absurd to believe EVERYTHING is the result of random uncontrolled events. That's why I didn't say that. Organised complexity needs a non-random explanation: and we have it. It's called natural selection. No god required.
sam51092 2 years ago
Dont tell me formation of the universe was natural selection!!
Who put the earth on the precise distance fromt he sun so that it will be just perfect to support life. If the eath is nearer or further to and from the sun by a few thousand kms life will be impossible. And if you know about probability, it is about one in a trillion tillion!!
alfulani5 2 years ago
No, I only said high complexity came by natural selection- the only phenomenon needing non-random explanation.
As for 'earth's position' arguments, u r working back from the present. It's as though I dealt you 5 cards, and u said 'wow, what r the odds of me getting THESE particular 5 cards out all 52 in the deck! You must've DELIBERATELY dealt me these 5'.
The universe is vast. It's only probable that a few places, somewhere/sometime, will just happen to hit jackpot. Same as the lottery.
sam51092 2 years ago
You say earth landing in the exact position is a jackpot. Same way, the eath having the perfect atmosphere, topography, vegetation, weather, chemical composition will also be jackpots.
What you are saying is like we hitting a trillion jackpots at the same time and each having less than one in a trillion chance.
It looks you are very bad in your probability and statistics!
alfulani5 2 years ago
Now you're just embarrassing yourself. Your calculation of 'one in a trillion chance' is based on the working-back-from-the-present fallacy. Playing lottery, your chances of winning can be millions to one. But with enough people playing over a long enough period of time, eventually it BECOMES probable that someone, somewhere, will win. But working back from the present, they could just talk about the millions to one odds against and so conclude the lottery was rigged for them to win. Absurd.
sam51092 2 years ago
Think on it: a bird flys over and shits on ur head. U could say 'wow, what r the odds of the shit being exactly that size, shape, texture, smell etc., as opposed to all the other ways it could've been? What r the odds of me walking by at that exact place and time, and the bird flying at that exact place and time? What r the odds...'
U can ask questions like these forever, and eventually u'll come to wateva figure of improbability u like. Doesn't mean someone designed 4 the bird shit on u.
sam51092 2 years ago
Now think on the UNINTELLIGENT design: there's hostile planets, exploding stars, colliding galaxies, black holes, 6 billion or so comets in the solar system any of which can hit us any time, and have done in the past, alongside shifting climate changes also causing extinction, and a future when the sun swallows the earth...
If a human had designed something this bad, he'd be fired and sued as a dangerous incompetent. And u want me to believe an all knowing, all powerful being designed it?? Ha
sam51092 2 years ago
who said world is permantent? Everything will be destroyed before the day of judgement!!
alfulani5 2 years ago
I am talking about millions if not trillions of minute BUT significant elements and factors that make life possible.
Beleiving they could happen all at once is really unintelligent.

Buddists worhsip staute of Buddah. And whome did Buddah worship? Himself??

Hi
You better watch the film to understand !

mmeissonnier 2 years ago
After being enlightened, Buddha did not believe in worshiping any idols and teachings or belief system existed then. However, it is sad to say that we Buddhist are practicing something Buddha himself opposed - ie worshiping his statue. True Buddhist is one who is well aware of life, death, nature, and universe and accept its law, not the one who visit monastery every weekend to offer to the statue of Buddha.
gottobekiddingme666 2 years ago 3
I see much confusion in Buddism.
Here in Sri Lanka Buddists worship Hindu idols, too. In every Buddist temple there is a mini-Hindu temple. This is very puzzling!
alfulani5 2 years ago
I make a distinction between the Philosophical Buddhism that Buddha taught, where you rely on reason and experience, without defering to authority and tradition or accepting superstitious beliefs; and Religious Buddhism, which disregards all that and makes Buddha's teachings just another religion.
Sadly the religious tolerance of Buddhism, which made it good, also meant that it syncretised with native superstitions; which was not so good.
sam51092 2 years ago
What Buddah taught is even more confusing. He has taught you are in control of your won destiny and you are the one make things happen. So Buddists, when a calamity happens cant stop blaming themselves and easily pushed to suicicde. This perhaps is the main reason whey the Buddist countries have some of the highest suicide rates in the world.
alfulani5 2 years ago
This is 'karma'. Karma just meant 'action'- your actions have consequences- but others later took it as a metaphysical principle entailing that whatever happens to you is your fault.
I may be wrong. But he did say to not believe anything just 'cos he said it. Even if he DID say a lot of superstitious nonsense, we could just dismiss it and it wouldn't make his core teaching, the 4 Noble Truths, any less valid. Just like dismissing Newton's Occultism doesn't mean we have to dismiss Gravity.
sam51092 2 years ago
Unlike physical reaction, moral reaction needs the intervervention or judgement of an intelligent entity. The Buddists beleive if you harm someone you will be harmed the same way. But it has to be done by an intelligent entity. If there is no God who is doing it then?
alfulani5 2 years ago
If you kill a person, other people put you in jail. If you go to war, you will lose many lives even if you win. This is simply your actions having consequences. It doesn't require an 'intelligent entity'. When was the last time God came down and punished anybody for anything? Most of the time people use God as just another justification for evil deeds- THEY think what they're doing is right, so they think god must be on their side. So in answer to your question, it takes mortals to punish evil.
sam51092 2 years ago
Please stop confusing yourself.
Buddists believe if someone hurts a cow they will be born as a cow int he next life and will get the same treatment. My question is if there is no God who makes the jugements and gives the reward or punishment?
alfulani5 2 years ago
I think I made the distinction between Philosophical Buddhism and Religious Buddhism a few posts ago. Ask your question to a Religious Buddhist, because it's not a belief I hold, and is therefore irrelevant.
sam51092 2 years ago
Rebirth is the crux Buddism! and if yous ay it is irrelevant, you are NOT a Buddist to start with!
Make up your mind talk about Buddism or talk about Philosophy!
alfulani5 2 years ago
Um, the 3 Marks, 4 Noble Truths, and 8fold Path are the crux of Buddhism. Buddha said 'I teach one thing and one thing only: the cessation of suffering'. Nothing about rebirth there.
You seem to be stuck on the idea of Buddhism as only meaning Religious Buddhism. Whatever; whether I can be called a Buddhist or not is nothing but a semantic quibble, and so it's trivial and irrelevant. Either way, I don't believe in rebirth and so your question doesn't apply to me.
sam51092 2 years ago
If there is no rebirth why do you bother so much about this nirvana thing??
All the poojas, meditations in the jungles, refraining from eating meat and alcohol, shunning the world and becomming monks are directed towards avoiding rebirth!! It loos you are one confused soul.
alfulani5 2 years ago
Once again, everything you just mentioned are traits of Religious Buddhism.
If you want to criticise what I actually believe, rather than just deciding what I believe and then saying I'm confusing MYSELF when I'm only confusing your stereotype, you must falsify the 3 Marks or the 4 Noble Truths. That is it, and that is all.
sam51092 2 years ago
The whole Buddism revolves around attaining nirvana i.e. AVOIDING REBIRTH.
If you deny that you are just wasting your time with Buddism
alfulani5 2 years ago
Once again, 3 Marks, or 4 Truths. No, not a Religious Buddhist strawman; 3 Marks, or 4 Truths.
sam51092 2 years ago
Exactly man, that's what I think also.
Nerte85 2 years ago
@alfulani5 We worship the Buddha as a matter of respect, not because we think of him as a god. Buddha only spoke of the path to end suffering, he did not speak of worshiping any god :)

"do not accept anything, know matter who says, even if i say it..until u can verify it, understand it, experience it, n its benefits you then n only then should you accept it"- I don't think that is a lie, I think that is called being investigative, intelligent and introspecting..no blindfaith, no following something because its written in a book, because God said it, because lots of ppl follow it, because your parents, ur relatives ur friends n teachers do it..only accept it if it makes sense
inmyownblood 3 years ago 2
"only accept it if it makes sense"
No, Siddartha said only accept it if you EXPERIENCE it to be true.
"Making sense" only makes for a stable theory - which is, by definition, only a stable explanatory EXTRACTION of truth.

So, deny his enjoyment by ignoring his comment totally. When no one bothers about him, he'll go. If you believe in karma, he'll definitely get his own share of 'beautiful' language from others.
