Why not buil a big cage and let them peck stuff off the ground instead of buying feed? They you canuse their poop as fertilizer too! Maybe a few big cages so you can rotate them to new pieces of land.
Do these chickens ever get to run around free range or are the kept in this wee cage all day every day untill they're sitting on your dinner plate? Just asking :)
@PhilipK100 they get to run around Pip but they can't live on the ground here. We have too many wolves, foxes, coyotes, while dogs, bob cats, gators, the list goes on and on. They get eaten pretty quick if you leave 'em loose for long.
@UrbanRedneckGardenin these birds have been devolved through "selective breeding" and not through "gene splicing". There for they are not "GMO" but merely hybrids.
@MayeuxMinistries I do like y'alls videos, and appreciate you putting them out for us. I'm new to alot of this stuff and still learning. And do want to believe what you're saying about just a hybrid. But the growth rate sounds like an awful lot, for something thats just from selective breeding.
Is it possible for a gmo bird to be breed with a nice, selective bred bird. Therefore, they can get away with calling It, just a hybrid?
I just find it hard to believe anything comming from anyone that can be manipulated by money. As in, anything from universities to so called scientist.
To clarify, I'm not pointing a finger at you at all. Just at the high possibilty of where you got the birds from.
These "schools" and "scientist" reply on money from above to survive. So yea, they'll say and do whatever, to keep the funds comming.
@UrbanRedneckGardenin Hybrid just means "crossbreed". The Broilers were first developed in 1930 by crossing the male of a naturally double breasted Cornish strain and a female of a tall, large boned strain of white Plymouth Rocks. Pretty much all commercial meat producers deal strictly with Broilers. So any chicken you eat from any restaurant or store is hybrid Broiler meat. I'm not aware of any GMO in Broilers as of yet. It's still just a crossbreed meat bird.
