@lefterisarvanitakis - Thanks for watching. GOOD QUESTION. The Genus only vignettes at a certain point. SO, it still is a good filter depending on conditions. The 16-35mm is a WIDE lens so it is reasonable that it would give almost any "variable" ND filter problems. The Genus has proven to be a good option in "many" circumstances. If your unsure you might want to go with a set of three ND's. Good luck.
@jrscott2007 - Not at all. The angle is really wide and and shake has not been a problem for video or photo work. With a lens that zooms in tight or a macro lens IS helps a lot.
@Inthebubblefilms - Honestly for weddings I would use a video camera. The reason is because it can auto focus and also because it doesn't shut off after 10-12 minutes (DSLRS do this as to not overheat and they can be buffer underrun issues- but they can be restarted again right away). Video cameras are just better for some purposes.
@kapsico - Thanks. I have several different NDs BUT I wanted to show what the Genus does. A few people asked to see me use it to evaluate the vigneting.
@odnanref1100 - There is "some" edge distortion. In photography it's not that bad. In video work it "could" be distracting BUT it depends on the shoot. So far it's not been a problem for me.
Thanks for answering my question, but now I'm gotten more frustrated because I was leaning towards the 5d mark 2 but now I heard that a 5d mark 3 is coming out. Idk what to do now. Any advice
@paris89ify - No matter when you buy a camera or phone etc "the next version" is right around the corner. It looks like the Mark III won't b available till this summer. I'm happy with my pair of Mark II's and I won't be upgrading. Your choice seems to be wait and then create OR just buy a Mark II and start filming.
I want this lens so bad, but am thinking of settling on the 17-40 f/4.0 for half the price. I know this means half the light at wide-open, but I can't really think of many situations where I'd need that extra stop. Are there any other benefits?
@ragnarocking - Thanks for watching. You would get more bokeh at f2.8 which is always nice (for video or photo work). The extra stop works GREAT for low light. Build quality is great as well.
@TorkoalAqua - Of course. It's awesome in low light (f2.8). BUT the right lens for any project is dependent on what you need visually. Every lens (even those good for low light) has it's own look and dynamics.
@TorkoalAqua - It depends on what type of scene, lighting and frame rate (if your shooting at 1/50 in 24p and want your aperture wide open). If you're shooting a wide scene in low light then I'd use the 16-35 f2.8. If you're shooting a well light scene (even if it's got dark areas on purpose) at medium distances I'd use the 24-105mm f4. BUT, each scene needs to be looked at through a few lenses to evaluate what may work best. After a while you'll know just by experience.
@ravivide - I watched the video. Good job. I usually use a few different lenses in my music videos BUT I like what you did with that one lens. Very creative!
@adventuresineurope - Thanks for checking out the clip. The lens is a bit pricey BUT it's definitely one of the top 3- 4 lenses to have in your collection.

The edge distortion, is this just with this lens or are there others that you have seen this with.
28dford 2 weeks ago
@28dford - It comes from the slight curvature of the lens. An extreme example would be the 15mm Fisheye. The 16-35mm isn't that bad at all.
DemiTheCameraMan 2 weeks ago
oh god, i've been looking at the 17-35mm...

Would you recommend this lens to a 14yr old who is looking for a good portrait/landscape lens?
DeadPxle 3 weeks ago
@DeadPxle - Yes and no. Yes for landscape but not for portraits (unless you're doing large groups). Also the lens costs around $2000.00.

which camera is better for movies 5dmk2 or 7d
paris89ify 1 month ago
@paris89ify - Better is different for each person. I like the 5D Mark II. One reason is the full size sensor.
