  • fun fact : all the people in this short film died mysteriously deaths, search it up

  • This version is remastered however, the original one is reversed (wikipedia)

  • Better camera than most youtube videos use

  • The effects are like a blend of Avatar, Tron, and Transformers.

  • Did Michael Bay direct this?

  • SirTorment is on crack.

  • I love the way this movie conveys the importance of nature. There's a real mise en scene to the directing that shows the way in which society and mankind must act to preserve the environment and its gifts. The man shown walking from the left to the right of the screen symbolises the way in which mankind can only progress when nature is order. The background men and women are depicted moving in a nonchalant and orderly manner suggesting the peace that the environment brings to their lives.

  • @SirTorment LOL

  • 0:2 does not exist >:o

  • @Ballet4Everz you are very stupid

  • @kawana87 LOL!!

  • It was part of a larger film but this is the only salvagable bit.

The original full film was more of a documentary of their home i believe.

    Correct me if i'm wrong.

  • @Clint945 You'd think so, but no. This was the whole 'film', it's 2.11 seconds long and consists of about 25 frames.

  • @Udany147

    Really, heh

Was it just a test film to check the camera? or was it actually a 2.11 second long film.

  • @Clint945 Probably test film. This was probably all the camera was capable of - very short clips.

  • @Udany147

Good point actually, i never thought about the camera limitation, just the film limitation.

  • I cant wait for the sequel!

  • I don't know why, but i really think these old videos are scary, but at the same time interesting

  • what was going on in the video anyway?

  • This is so cool. Something about the fact that this is the oldest surviving film really fascinates me, though I'm not sure what

  • It does drag a bit. Liked the bit where he moved though.

  • wow thats great to see even how they dress, look classy people ,now days some people look like they just woke up and put on there pajamasand few do dress well and classy

  • I wasted three seconds of my life for this geez!!! I took me longer to type this comment than to watch this clip!!! I cant beleive Im wasting my time commenting ;-)!!!

  • @Geraldtoo I can't believe I waste my time typing to tell you how wasted your life is for saying this.

  • @Geraldtoo If brilliant experimental films like this weren't made in 1888, just think of all that would not exist now.

  • @ROCKSLIDZ I was being sarcastic with the comment. Everything important has to start of somewhere. Even some of the first light bulbs where made with cardboard filiments and were actually the best for a long at the time!

  • @Geraldtoo Hi, I'm, glad you were being sarcastic! Guess I've read too many ignorant, dismissive and overly critical YouTube comments lately... some people really seem to think that "History" only starts with them. :)

  • 3 ثواني وثقت اهم حدث في التاريخ

  • all those in this movie died mysteriously

  • Way better than Avatar, yet fewer people know about it. This was breathtaking, yet Avatar wasn't. People say Avatar was amazing, but this is truly amazing.

  • This is really amazing to see. The first motion picture. To thing that it was done over 100 years ago.

  • Darn, that was long... is there a cut version?

  • Still a better love story than Twilight.

  • Yup, you're right it's still better than Twilight.

  • In the original novel, he walks from right to left.

  • Better than Twilight.

  • Now let's see some footage from 1887

  • My favorite part was when they were walking.

  • @nholt my favorite part was when this was better than twilight

  • To see actual footage of the year 1888 is truly amazing!!! Thanks for sharing!!! WOW!!!

  • @Altair6films At least somebody out there has the brains to appreciates the historical value of this film. The rest of c@@ts just make jokes out of everything including this. There so riddle with drugs and X boxes they can't even appreciate anything.

  • That guy in the back the spins around has a long coat and it has 2 slits on each side ... just saying

  • this is truly amaizing. I wish I could be ther and smle the air of that time!!!

  • I'd be quite mad back then if I paid good money to see a 3 second film.

  • lol i live in roundhay

  • I would rather be there with them.

  • I prefer the director's cut.

  • The acting is on par, the angle itself is brilliant. It really portrays the way a man can walk around a rotating woman. Resolution is terrible, may I suggest a Lumix? Cheap and cheerful.

    Wait.

  • Is there a blu-ray version?

  • @sfdksfksdfsdfdfs You have 57 ignorant postmodernist friends there.

  • @Professor6871 I was just trying to make a joke.Cant believe it actually got thumbs up.BTW i love watching stuff like this - first photograph, first movie etc.Dont get mad , dude.

  • @sfdksfksdfsdfdfs This comment shows that you are an utter fool that doesn't know anything about film, history or even blu-ray for that matter.

  • @Tolkien105Legolas It was just a stupid joke.Get over it

  • still better than twilight.

  • @fortifythamind Shut the fuck up. Try some fucking originality. There are hundreds of retarded comments just like that on every old black and white historic video. You aren't original, funny, or clever. Stop commenting until you actually have something to contribute.

  • @Supermassively uh oh twilight fan is upset....but it's true, this IS better than twilight.

  • @flyingidiot357 Nothing I said even remotely suggests that I'm a Twilight fan, nor was I disagreeing with the actual message of his comment. Try some fucking logic. It gives you credibility.

  • @Supermassively wow u mad bro? ...what a prick...

  • @515742617000027 I notice that all the moronic children who spam the same bullshit comments on every video also tend to respond with "u mad bro" to anyone who criticizes it. It's a great demonstration of the groupthink that you fucktards practice. Pathetic. 4chan and all of its followers should be hunted down and executed.

  • @Supermassively dude chill youur tits. its just a comment nothing to get mad about. and i hate 4chan i am not a follower but i do agree 4chan followers are fucked up

  • @Supermassively well, somebody's got their knickers in a knot!

  • @flyingidiot357 No, somebody doesn't. Grow up.

  • @Supermassively no, u.

  • sorry wcability109, I forgot to thank you for posting this glimpse into the past and your informative notes.

  • To the morons who posted that this is "not very good": I'm sure you would also tell us that the Lascaux Cave paintings are "not very good" from a technical standpoint.

  • the oldest surviving sci fi is on here! A Trip to the Moon, in 1902. good for a laugh, bc of how they depicted a then unknown moon surface!

  • It makes me think of poorly done bullet time.

  • It's not very good, is it?

  • Its better than Waterworld.

  • @OOjiBoy It's better than Avatard

  • whoo i live in roundhay
