I give an A mark for Magical Madoka, the storyline is very interesting and completely unique compare to other magical anime that i watch. If i were a girl i would cosplay as one of the char LOL
@TeacupGrenade Kyuubey was definitely a unique villain and I really like that there was a deeper motive for his actions besides him just doing it to be evil. That being said, it does seem like he views the Earth as expendable, in the fourth timeline. Kyuubey is probably interested in letting new planets and cultures form, unless he can collect a lot of energy by letting a powerful witch destroy one of those planets. My mom says that he's basically a lawyer or a bureaucrat and I agree with her.
I also think he considered Earth expendable if it helped more planets form in the long run. IMHO, his motives make him admirable, although I can understand that people consider him a "villain" for his view of Earth.
I think what really attracted me to this series and kept me waiting for each episode was the way the story was told. For me it was the perfect mix of Light and Dark and Mystery. An epic tragedy that ends in self sacrifice and hope.
I know I'm going to get a lot of thumbs down for this, but I'm far from hating Kyuubey.
He wasn't just out to mess up young girls' lives. If anything, his motive was to help the universe - slow down entropy, and new cultures and planets can form over billions of years.
Did Madoka have a better solution? Yes, but that doesn't make him a "bad guy"; people just want a "bad guy" to hate. It is possible to have a good antagonist who's not "just evil." That's actually what I liked about PMMM.
@TeacupGrenade I agree mostly, but I think QBs motives were more about his civilization than the universe. When he said that I thought he was speaking more in general terms about entropy. That said the "no real bad guy" is quite common in anime and more like "real life" situations. Code Geass, The Money of Soul..., even Neon Genesis.

Everybody has his own life and should be able to choose how to use it. Killing people off as you need them regardless of their wills is never right. Well if you walked up to a cow with a butcher knife and said, "I'm gonna kill you when you get fat!" The cow would run away. Instead, you make it completely oblivious to it's situation. Kyubey didn't lie because he was evil, it was because if he didn't, nobody would be a magical girl, and we would be cave(wo)men right now.

If you prefer the universe, then he's a good guy. As for me, I consider him a plot element. He just needs to be there. This is like, my favorite song in the show (tied with Magia)...It reminds me of the fantasies I'd have as a little kid of becoming a "Magical Girl" of some sort. But now I know that if a cute little animal asks me if I want to be one, I better for my life say no XD

to those who haven't actually watched this and just kinda wandered upon it, I HIGHLY recommend it. I just finished it today, and it's the best anime I have seen to date. That's my opinion of course

@CloudedGaurdian Frankly, I agree. What Kyubey is doing is looking at the 'big' picture, sacrificing a hundred lives for a thousand. He doesn't take the feelings of the people being sacrificed into account--mostly because he can't comprehend them. Of course, their death is actually required in order to harvest the emotions, so try as he might to compromise, their opinion mean svery little in the end. If the progression of mankind is due to the contractees, we can't blame him.

No need for a second season, everything got explained in the anime.
If they do make a second season, however, I am sure it will be truly entertaining.
The demons were a substitute for witches, as the witches served as a major or even as the main power source of the universe.
When Madoka removed that power source, history had to take another path, thereof the demons.

@CloudedGaurdian Frankly, I agree. What Kyubey is doing is looking at the 'big' picture, sacrificing a hundred lives for a thousand. He doesn't take the feelings of the people being sacrificed into account--mostly because he can't comprehend them. Of course, their death is actually required in order to harvest the emotions, so try as he might to compromise, their opinion mean svery little in the end. If the progression of mankind is due to the contractees, we can't blame him.

The last emotion really came out at the end of the series, as the end showed how true friendship between two is never forgotten, even if the Universe itself is rewritten. This will forever be one of my favorite anime series'.

Madoka wished to erase all witches in every dimension, in every timeline, with her own hands. This created a paradox because Madoka would eventually erase her own witch self, while she must continue to exist and destroy other witches. This paradox resulted in Madoka escaping the bounds of reality and ascending to godhood. Since Madoka never existed as a human in this new reality, she is no longer remembered by anyone, except for Homura. Wikia.
