  • did you know they used REAL instruments?

  • do you notice how diffrent commercials were back then? then they are now? thumbs up for time travel :D

  • AH THE GOOD OLD DAYS

  • Can any one please tell me why the van ad the civil defence logo on the botom right hand corner if the wundow???? Write me back. Thank you.

  • I remember when I was a kid, half the fun of getting ice cream was chasing the truck with friends and yelling out through the neighborhood to the other kids inside their homes "Ice cream truck is here!"

Now kids go to the store open a freezer, get whatever, say to their parents "I want this one.", go back to the car, sit on their butt eat and nag on how the ice cream tastes.

There's no magic in ice cream anymore.

  • The difference is that kids now will attack the shit out of the truck.

  • why are there no ice cream trucks today? is it because america's fat?

  • What year is it from??????

  • Wonderful!

  • Mr. "softee", cones, ding-a-lings...something a tad Freudian about that song. :-)

  • I'd say this "block" of ads were originally seen in 1960 (note the "CD" {Civil Defense} logo on the side of the truck at 1:20).

  • never seen a commercial this long lol.

  • Mr. Viagra put him out of buisnesss

  • the kid @ 0:46 is a criminal NOW!

  • Was a hit in Garwood New Jersey ( circa 1960's)

  • Was a time before vulgar innuendo in the minds of mediocrity Think it was first to introduce soft ice cream. Was a hit in N.Y.C.

  • I swear at 0:52, that's mister softee winking as he runs the kids down. He he comes bearing down on them with his ice cream truck.

  • Ryan Miller disliked this video 4 times.

  • Hummmm, my sister calls her husband "Mr. Softee", and for some reason, I do not think she is referring to ice cream!

  • why did they put so much emphasis on the "cream" when they said ice cream back then

  • who else called the number?

  • the best ice cream EVER. even my high school has their own Mister Softee truck! ahh memories... there's also two of them on Flushing Meadows Park. i often see them in my area

  • i call my penis mr softee what a coincidence

  • Eddie Murphy.

  • First time I hear the lyrics. Thanks!

The tune brings back good memories - although sometimes the tune would drive me insane.

    That said, I prefer Carvel.

  • I love Mr. Softee! I live near alot of kids so its a.. OMFG I HEAR THE JINGLE RIGHT NOW! XD no joke! My milkshakes and my sundaes and my cones are such a treat, Listen for my store on wheels, ding-a-ling down the street. The creamiest, dreamiest soft ice cream, You get from Mister Softee. For a refreshing delight supreme, Look for Mister Softee. S-O-F-T Double 'E', Mister Softee
  • hello how can i get a dvd copy of the mister softee vintage commercials

  • it would be great if those truckers could actually wear the old school uniforms while operating their trucks instead of looking too casual.

  • the original jingle cool!

  • hi i was wondering if these mister softee commercials are available on dvd with all the other classic commercials.

  • so stereo typical of a white family

  • Just cant wait to i get mister softys delicious creamy suprise!!!

  • Begging my pops for a dime to get a Mr. Softee cone is one of my fondest memories...he'd hem and haw...but he always gave it to me, yeah.

  • Here's the commercial I used to watch in the 50s, back in the B&W television days

  • I remember seeing that on TV. What year is that?

  • drug dealer

  • The exact Mr. Softee trucks still exist till this day with the same jingle here in New York City. It's an all-time classic.

  • Sweet

  • hahaha he was a killer

  • 1:35-1:40 thats what she said

  • mmmmm, to bad todays mister softee is a jip:(

  • to bad u don't see ppl dress up in mister softee uniform

  • You could hear Mister Softee coming down the street. You could hear the refrigeration compressors and the "ding" of the bell every 15 seconds.

  • I got a question...at 1:54, the Mister Softee truck has a Civil Defense logo by the door...uh, WHY?

  • Good call!! My guess is that the vehicle would have been pledged for use in time of emergency, as any refrigerated transport would have been seen as highly beneficial. Don't forget these were the days when some of the precautions and contingency plans made for armageddon bordered on what we would find comical now but were based on a best measures analysis then.

  • WTF?! We need to bring this back :D Ice cream deliver trucks!!!

  • dont you have ice-cream vans in america? :S

  • Well yes but they just sell those crappy popicles that always melt in your hand. Lol I want soft serve and ice cream cones!!! :] WITH TOPPINGS!!!

  • @tatertotter808 wth happened to the real ice cream trucks of those days I was fortunate enough to have that old Mr Softee experience with some local truck that still runs around here

  • This brings back a lot of great memories.

The past was definately a better time than the present, and it's not wishful thinking. It's a fact. The world sucks now. I pray for Armageddon everyday.

  • Hi, 1952Kid,

I have to "ditto" what KissHope said. Thank you for bringing back that sweet sweet memory. I, too, had forgotten how beautiful our Mister Softee truck was on a summer evening...I loved Mister Softee vanilla cones in the early 1960s. Mister Softee made the very best ice cream. (Check out Mister Softee's website.)

  • BEST ICECREAM EVERRR!

  • Was this stuff any good ? it looks it.

  • YES, VERY GOOD, and thier still around. The ice cream would melt fast while eating it. not like the crap soybean icecream others sell. Dairy Barn isnt even close to Mr Softie, Cravel is the closest to the texture and taste.

  • Yeah, and even Carvel still isn't very close.

  • Mr. Softee had promos?

  • Night time was the best, that magical truck all lit up at night. You could hear it from blocks away, and had plenty of time to get money. 1960's i got first double cone with chocolate and vanilla and sprinkles, it was huge! And then go home to watch The ed sullivan show.

  • 1952Kid,

What a sweet sweet memory. I had forgot how beautiful those trucks were at night. Thanks.

  • I love mr softee. the anticipation of licking the soft vanilla ice cream as you stand on the edge of the curb staring down the street and seeing the mr softee van at a distance feels great. and the taste and finally getting the ice cream is even better

  • great memory !

  • One of the fondest memories as a young boy was waiting in anticipation to hear the Mr. Softy jingle coming through the neighborhood from a distance. Standing on the edge of the curb holding a fist full of change listening to the sound of the jingle getting louder and louder as it approached my street , And finally seeing that blue and white Boyertown step van with the big plastic statue of Mr. Softy mounted to the top of the front roof of the truck turning down my street.

  • So this Boyertown step van is the old model van?

  • best ice cream ever

  • One of my earlies memories of growing up in Jackson Heights in the early 60s is that song and eating a chocolate/chocolate dip cone. 40 odd years later and it still tastes exactly the same!

  • AAAAAAAA hese worse than mr clean

  • was this an east coast company? I dont remember it

  • yes it was/is still big in the east coast

  • My God! I remember watching these Mr.Softee ice cream tv plugs

in NYC back in the early 1960's.

  • 2:12 is completely true.

  • I wanted to be Mister Softee's DAUGHTER, so I could ride around in the truck and get free stuff.

  • All these years. I never knew this actually had lyrics to it. It is nice to know that we can use YouTube as an alternative way of documenting things.

    Thanks for posting

  • Is it my imagination or did they make George Jetson look like the Cartoon dad on this commercial :) I did love Mister Softee when I was a child.

  • the announcer is a young Bob Murphy, I think , the late NY mets announcer.

  • Mr Scary I was afraid of the MR SOFTEE character /drawing

also ithink this melody is perjury

it sounds like the cartoon FELIX THE CAT

  • Mister Softee Rocks!! Hes the best on long island

  • Mr Softee used to visit my neighborhood when I was a kid. I had forgotten the tune he played until I heard it here. Great memories!

  • @cmayo1956 these mister softee commercials. are they available on dvd.

  • Mmmm, makes me hungry!
