ah. thanks! i have also recently acquired some barrels that will hold water. i think i can paint them black so that they absorb heat by day and produce heat by night.
do your plants produce seeds that you use for the next crop? or do you use a supplier?
@dawneymay1 I prefer using open pollinated seeds and they can be saved from year to year but......I do not keep them for myself, I buy fresh seeds every year.
hi there! any suggestions on how to keep the greenhouse warm if no electricity is available? i am fixing to build a lean-to as my first greenhouse to do winter gardening and start seedlings...love your videos, by the way.
Hey Keith, I run one or two small electric heaters when the temps get too cold at night. During the day, if it's 40 outside with the sun shining........it get over 100 inside without additional heat. Thanks for watching! Greg
Your leaf seedlings such as lettuce and spinach can go underneath. They don't require as much sun and will do fine. This will free up space on the top for seedlings that need the stronger sun. Hope that helps. That is ALOT of seedlings! LOL
I hope you do updates to this one. I would love to see the progress. Thanks.
Thanks Greg for the info. I also want to do a small market garden in the little town nearby that has no grocery store or fresh produce avail. Esp. for the elderly who can buy a few things without having to buy an entire bag or pkg of something & not have to travel 8 mi to the nearest grocery store. Good luck with your adventure ! Thks again
Wow thats a great crop waiting to happen ! Love your greenhouse too. Can you tell me what it cost you to build it? I am going to need one like that. many thanks

@dawneymay1 small propane heater.....I wouldn't worry about it unless it's going to get below 40 at night. You may want to try some passive heating.

Cheap and cheerful, as they say. How large is your garden that these plants will be going into ?
mukwah1111 3 years ago
I put about $400 in it but it could have been done a lot cheaper. I used wiggle wires to attach the plastic ($200). It's
12x16. I'm going to try a 1 to 2 acre market garden plus will be selling seedlings at our local co-op......Greg
