My dad died of pulmonary fibrosis last year, May 2010 - its been a tough year. We live in N Ireland and when dad was diagnosed we had never heard of this disease, it was a sharp learning curve.

I HAVE PULMONARY FIBROSIS FROM MY WORK PLACE MAY STEEL OWNED BY THE EVERETT SMITH GROUP MAYSTEEL WAS IN SOUTHEAST WISCONSIN IN MF WISCONSIN MY WORK PLACE KNEW THIS WAS GOING TO TURN INTO PULMONARY FIBROSIS ALMOST 2 YEARS BEFORE IT DID BUT DIDN'T CHANGE A THING WITH MY WORK PLACE SO IN A WAY MAYSTEEL AND THE EVERETT SMIYH GROUP KILLED ME THE GRANDPA OF 9 LITTLE GRAND CHILDERN WHO WILL NOT GET TO KNOW THEIR GRANDPA BECAUSE OF MAYSTEEL, THE EVERETT SMITH GROUP AND PULMONARY FIBROSIS.

it's disgraceful that it would take the death of a celebrity to bring attention to this disease just because "it's not cancer" -- my father died of this (his final moments are up on youtube as per his request) and as a general rule doctors don't have a fucking clue how to go about treating it, and actually make the condition WORSE by prescribing a cocktail of drugs which absolutely destroys the immune system.

I lost my dad to this disease in 2004. It is horrible. I watched him take has last labored breath.

Glad to see that Pulmonary Fibrosis is getting some attention. There is no cure for this disease. But, 40,000 Americans die from PF annually. I was diagnosed with PF 4 1/2 years ago and have gone to several funerals of others who were afflicted. Fortunately, I was able to get a lung transplant this year which is not a cure, but rather a means to extend life. Only several hundred can get lung transplants. Research is needed to understand the cause and then to develop a possible cure.
