1.000.000 canadians on wait lists; i'm not even on a wait list even though i have 3 untreated injuries that have been misdiagnosed and denied medical care;
we already have a 3 tiered medical system, public system, compensation system,
auto accident system; and mr. days, private system;
why is it when a doctor tries to help patients like dr day and dr kunz the college and the government gang up on them and try to stop the good work they are doing, so what if rich people can afford medical care and dont want to pill up on pain killers ...i dont want to pill up on painkillers also but i'm broke and am denied medical care due to my age
watchout dr day, your canadian government and college will go to any lengths to hang u out to dry, even lying and libel attacks
@WCBvictim Dr. Day is up charges of double charging patients and the system. He cares about nothing more than the almighty dollar. ANd fixwcb why do you keep correlating your workman's comp claim with how everyone else receives our care. 90% are happy with our system. You have issue with workman's comp NOT the public system. Grow the fuck up.
that is bs.... a gp can`t order a mri only a specialist.... and guess how long it is to get into a specialist,took me 1 yr; then only got cortisone shot, 5 months later, 2 nd cortisone shot, then denied physians requests for expedited appointment to specialist;
received mri 30 months after injury which showed need for surgery, but of course was denied until threatned to get a lawyer, even though doc stated needed surgery from workplace accident; Canada`s medical system is rationed....
there is nothing in the Hippocratic Oath about being "non-profit", or offering services as a monopoly to the government. what entitles some to think they should get the hard-earned skills of a physician for free? it takes 15 years of grueling work and avg of 250k to become a doctor. All others in society have the right to be motivated by profit?? why shouldn't a doctor? a doctor is sworn to the Hippocratic Oath, not to the communist manifesto as socialist free-loaders would like to advertise.
Converting to a dual private public system will increase wait times. Doctors that go to a private system will perform less surgeries overall or they cannot offer faster care. So a large portion of doctors are performing less surgeries, hence now less surgeries are being performed overall in the system. The ones who are going private get faster care, but those in the public system wait even longer. Private health care does not create Human resources and only redistributes them to focus on ......
people who pay get faster care, not who needs it more. This exact scenario has been documented in many countries that increases in private care actually increases overall wait list. BTW the doctors in Canada don't work for free or any other country that offers Unversal Health care...so what is your point?
Dr. Brian Day who is under investigation for fraud. A great sorce of info.
More bullshit form The Fraser Institute.

The median wait time for an MRI in FixWCB's provinces is 32 days for non-urgent cases. Immediate for urgent cases. Proof.

@SparwoodApple well if a guy pays and leaves the waiting list, then the person who needs faster care just got it!

That's the best answer yet to explain why we have to wait so long and how to fix it. Thank you to Dr. Day and the Fraser Institute's Ms Costello.
