Chevy finally decided that making N/A cars that keep up with Ford's supercharged cars wasn't enough... they finally took the boost route and the new ZR1 was born. Have we seen anything from ford that can compete? ... no.
@need2speed94 lol, speaking of, apparently chevrolet released the supercharger the put on the ls3 engine as a standalone, so now you dont have to pay 100K for a zr1, just get an ls3 corvette, slap the supercharger on and bam, insta 600HP for 3/4 the cost.

@firebat42 The thing is with blowers... most *street cars dont have wide enough tires to be able to dead hook off the line with a blower, ESPECIALLY with a V8. It's just too much torque for the car to handle to get a great launch. most people work around this by going with a centri blower.. but those have the lag like turbos and their power output is mediocre (generally). And i dont think turbo lag is that bad, only noticeable through 1st gear, after that the turbo is spooled for the most part

This race really is more about what's been added to the cars far more than Ford vs Chev bull ish ppl keep tryin to make it. This is like 2-fighters separated by diff classes (brown belt vs black) This vid is made to see if an older, & cheaper modded car which is not even in the same class can keep up w/ a Z06 doin arguably wut it does best, rolling starts. Which the stangs did do, so congrats to the stangs & congrats to the Z06 for bein recognized as the bench mark to try & beat ;-) Pro US guys!

Did the Cobra driver let off as soon as the Vette started catching up?? At 2:07 the driver looked at the vette catching up then slowed down. The vette would have won.

Yea the new 5.0 are very underrated...I've seen a dyno vid of a bone stock 2011 gt with just a k&n filter making 435 to the wheels and ford rated them at 412hp. I'm a ford man through and through and i have to say it surprised me, i was guessin somewhere in the 375 - 390rwhp range but when the computer said 435hp - 412tq i was like dayumm!!! Lets get it FORD!!
05GT5 the c6z06's are small blocks......largest small block chevy has produced.....bottom line cobras are a hell of a car but those c6z's are amazingly fast machines!
Well after this new camaro came out supercharged ford engine vs n/a chevy engines is about to change because chevy is now supercharging their engines as well now and still not running wat gt500s are running as far as quarter mile goes with dam near a full liter more of motor than ford...New 5.0s will kill camaros hands down with a baseline gt.

Its a differnt way to make power thats all. Ford small block supercharged vs chevy Big block. Its a fair race. And that chevy wasnt stock. It had Long tube headers and a tune. Witch could give it more than an extra 100hp. Shit like that make a big difference on a 7liter

@showtimejb57, the new 5.0L engine has already been proven to be underrated. They are putting out about 395 HP to the rear wheels, so expect them to be close to 450 crank HP. If you don't think that's more than enough to beat a Camaro SS, then you're smoking something. No blowers needed for the 2011 Mustang to piss all over a Camaro.

Ford needs to spend the extra 1k on ties, their on paper stats would improve drastically.
I have seen many guys run GT500's with DR's and haven't seen one do better than 12.4..I have also seen a handful of Terminators hand the GT500 their ass stock for stock..

iv seen probably a few hundred videos on racing (though i dont own a fast car..just a silly 185hp BMW) but iv noticed that if you visit a page of a vette owner racing a stang and the vette wins...comments are usually geared toward "fuck ford" or the like...here its more about the cars, numbers...sure theres an exception but it seems its far less...cheers

Yea the new 5.0 are very underrated...I've seen a dyno vid of a bone stock 2011 gt with just a k&n filter making 435 to the wheels and ford rated them at 412hp. I'm a ford man through and through and i have to say it surprised me, i was guessin somewhere in the 375 - 390rwhp range but when the computer said 435hp - 412tq i was like dayumm!!! Lets get it FORD!!

Well after this new camaro came out supercharged ford engine vs n/a chevy engines is about to change because chevy is now supercharging their engines as well now and still not running wat gt500s are running as far as quarter mile goes with dam near a full liter more of motor than ford...New 5.0s will kill camaros hands down with a baseline gt.

I guess you didn't see the traffic in the right lane, now did you? At 140 MPH shit starts to sneak up on you pretty fast. I think the 'vette would have beat the 'stang in the end though. With that said, the 'stang slowed down for a pretty good fuckin' reason. All very nice cars though........

But i guess that we all need to race to 200 mph to let the vette win so they will feel better about themselves. The cobra pulled him all the way to well over 140 then aerodynamics kick in. I bet it had more than just LT's and a tune as well. Its gonna take 500 whp in that vette to hang with 600 hp KB cobras

Its a differnt way to make power thats all. Ford small block supercharged vs chevy Big block. Its a fair race. And that chevy wasnt stock. It had Long tube headers and a tune. Witch could give it more than an extra 100hp. Shit like that make a big difference on a 7liter

@showtimejb57, the new 5.0L engine has already been proven to be underrated. They are putting out about 395 HP to the rear wheels, so expect them to be close to 450 crank HP. If you don't think that's more than enough to beat a Camaro SS, then you're smoking something. No blowers needed for the 2011 Mustang to piss all over a Camaro.

Oh I know, maybe u miss understood me. That & I can't find the comment ur replying too, lol. The only thing I've been saying is GT500's are way faster than the tires that come on them. U can crack into the 11's just w/DR's. I think WIKI says 11.5's w/DR's. I mean I run 12.7@113 in a 04'SVT stock just with DR's...& I only have 390+hp compared to the 500+hp of the GT500, yet I run around the same 1/4time. Ford needs to spend the extra 1k on ties, their on paper stats would improve drastically.
