I'm Aussie! I went to the Sydney Aquarium today actually and I saw a few Shark's there, there was this one HUGE one where all the fishes would hide when it came near, I don't think it was this Shark though :)

this video is a hoax. Some photos are from south africa, not Australia. And, you can tell these are different sharks in the photos! The "petting" photos were taken from the scientist (name escapes me. he's on discovery channel) who believes you can put a shark into a trance-like state by touching their noses. None of this "love story" is even remotely true.

The pictures show two different body builds, not the same guy, the larger boat was baiting sharks, and oh how romantic that they say its a female shark and so its in love with a man, its all made up. Two years and this is the best pictures of closeness between them, oh sure. that guy in the kayak is lucky that shark gave up thinking he was a seal.
@SoldatSolutrea Sharks are not mammals. Sharks are a branch off of fish. Also, Sharks only at exceedingly rare moments make noises (Ironically, the video maker is correct with the "grunt", as that is how it is often described). I wish this was real, and I would completely have believed the 'shark stalking the boat' due to bit, which was cute, but the petting thing is unrealistic. When sharks are turned to their backside, they're immobilized in motor functions and is highly uncomfortable.
@HearTheLightning actually if a white shark turn to it's backside it can not easily get inmobilized due it's weight and height so i think that shark canm do that but just for a few time and that few time... and something else... apart of being just a big fish it's a living form so i can imaghine that actually that shark could be grateful

sharks are really very peaceful creatures, Humans are truly the savages of the sea, sharks kill 5 people a year, and never intentionally hunt humans... People kill 3 sharks every second (100,000,000 every year)... mostly for shark fin soup (where 95% of the shark is wasted and the used fin does'nt contribute any taste or nutrition), think about it, when was the last time you ever saw shark on a menu? than why do we kill so many?

But if this is true, then there are some out there (most likely a very small portion) that do like the taste. Again, this is just a thought and I would love to see if there is any proof of this being true or not. Recall the summer in Jersey where like 3 people died in a 5 day span from a shark.

Deaths caused by sharks may not be all too common, but they don't happen for no reason. They happen because sharks like the taste of anything that has blood in it. That's why most civilian craft have someone to push great whites away before they decide to test the motor. However, like I said, it's pretty obvious that sharks don't care. They may not eat you, per say, depending on the individual shark, but if they can help it, they aren't going to let you live, either.

The pictures show two different body builds, not the same guy, the larger boat was baiting sharks, and oh how romantic that they say its a female shark and so its in love with a man, its all made up. Two years and this is the best pictures of closeness between them, oh sure. that guy in the kayak is lucky that shark gave up thinking he was a seal.

@SoldatSolutrea Sharks are not mammals. Sharks are a branch off of fish. Also, Sharks only at exceedingly rare moments make noises (Ironically, the video maker is correct with the "grunt", as that is how it is often described). I wish this was real, and I would completely have believed the 'shark stalking the boat' due to bit, which was cute, but the petting thing is unrealistic. When sharks are turned to their backside, they're immobilized in motor functions and is highly uncomfortable.

@HearTheLightning actually if a white shark turn to it's backside it can not easily get inmobilized due it's weight and height so i think that shark canm do that but just for a few time and that few time... and something else... apart of being just a big fish it's a living form so i can imaghine that actually that shark could be grateful

@yeuskas I have to say I don't know specifically with Great Whites, but Tiger Sharks and other sharks of varying sizes are quite immobilized, but either way, that is unimportant. After a few minutes of searching, I found a site which contacted the magazine that this article was in, and the magazine stated that the article was an April fools prank... nothing more or less. This isn't real.

sharks are really very peaceful creatures, Humans are truly the savages of the sea, sharks kill 5 people a year, and never intentionally hunt humans... People kill 3 sharks every second (100,000,000 every year)... mostly for shark fin soup (where 95% of the shark is wasted and the used fin does'nt contribute any taste or nutrition), think about it, when was the last time you ever saw shark on a menu? than why do we kill so many?

Anyway, if you get into water, and there is a shark around, it is probable that it will go to taste you, I really dont think is by accident, they are predators which in low waters are usually hungry. I dont have anything against them, but for sure they are very dangerous and can attack/taste you anytime.

This story is completely untrue, internet search it if you must. Sharks, along with every other non-mammal, let alone sea creature, is totally incapable of affection while bears, dogs and lions can be capable of affection (since they're mammals.) I wish it were true as well, yet the only reason this slideshow has 1.3 million+ views is because people are just downright interested in sharks.

Dude, you guys keep saying that it's ganna eat him..? Sharks don't eat people because they want our meat to eat or whatever. They do it on accident because they think we are something we're not. Like, a seal or turtle. They don't like the taste of us. And they sure as hell don't do it because of defense. An animal knows when it's in danger and sharks know that we're like, the weakest things in the sea.

@Rielly1Chris What about this thought. Do sharks have taste buds, like we do? If they do then I'm pretty sure a majority of them wouldnt like the taste of us, hence their checking nature of mouthing. But if this is true, then there are some out there (most likely a very small portion) that do like the taste. Again, this is just a thought and I would love to see if there is any proof of this being true or not. Recall the summer in Jersey where like 3 people died in a 5 day span from a shark.

@Rielly1Chris Right, and that's why they don't just let go when they taste us. Sharks just plain eat people. It's not a rare event. Deaths caused by sharks may not be all too common, but they don't happen for no reason. They happen because sharks like the taste of anything that has blood in it. Sure the initial attacks are usually from mistaken identity, but when they continue trying to kill you after they find out you aren't a turtle, it's obvious they don't care.

@PredatorKillsAlien In some cases yes.It depends on the shark.Tiger, Bull and Oceanic White Tips will eat people but humans are not usually on the menu for Great Whites.They often test their prey by mouthing it . Humans do not have the right fat/meat/bone ratio that Great Whites would consume naturally.They eat seals.That is their favourite prey. Where your statement goes wrong is that you are basically saying sharks are indiscriminate killing machines which they are not.

@HeavySabre70 There's no evidence to suggest otherwise. Sharks do test things with their mouths due to poor eye sight in most cases. That's why most civilian craft have someone to push great whites away before they decide to test the motor. However, like I said, it's pretty obvious that sharks don't care. They may not eat you, per say, depending on the individual shark, but if they can help it, they aren't going to let you live, either.
