i think what some of you are missing is the fact that the hub motor can spin up to that high of a speed. crystalyte on their website rates them to 30 mph or something like that :-D, that is if i'm going to the right website for the info.
The 5302 is the fastest hub motor ( rpm per volt they ever made).. no load speed mean nothing i agree but generally with decent power, the real speed is 66% on the road of the no load speed according to my test.
all my 100km/h ebikes do 160-170kmh no load and 100kmh on the road. Crystalyte rate their motor depending on the battery voltage and the wheel size dor general people.. for sure they dont mention you can go as fast as 100kmh or more with higher voltage & power
J'ai une question pour le Doctorbass, il semble que le 5302 ne soit plus disponible nulle part, avez-vous des pistes pour ceux comme moi qui souhaitent construire un véhicule expérimental équipé de 4 roues 5302?
The X5 motor are becoming realy rare and i think their productin is not stoped for a new otor serie
Crystalyte compagny are now making new HT and HS serie. just contact methods on our Forum ( endless-sphere website forums He is selling them. HS35 would be close top the 5303 and 5302
Otherwise Mark from Enertrac is making the MH602 and MH603 that are exactly TWO 5302 motor assembled in the same hub and are made for motorcycle application but can be customized.
@Doctorbass thanks for your reply, I heard about the HS3540 from It'sElectric, problem they don't have much data about its maximum performances. Since you did all the tests it's a pity 5302 is not available anymore, I tkink they owe you Mister Bass and they should give you a 3540 for doing test videos ;-)
Yes.. The 5302 is still the fastest hub motor for electric bike availlable. There is a 5402 coming soon that is 25% more torque with stator and magnet 25% wider but with the same case width.
Hi Chris, Are you sure that it really exist a 5402 ??.. I know the 5300 serie with the 02 to the 06 but a 5400 serie ??? never heard ...... i know that crystalyte released some new model recently.. the HT or HX35 that are a trade off between the 400 and the 5300 serie...
Very cool you replied. I am very interest in electric powered bikes. I rcvd a design patent for a bike I want to produce using a very similar electric set up youre using.. I wasn't implying that you were implying that speed could be acheived, but the difference between a no load run vs. a normally loaded bicycle is very large. I remember playing around with crank RPM's vs. the final drive RPM. The energy required rendered it impossible but it was fun to think about. Keep up the good work.
I appreciate what you are doing, but don't represent data like this. You can take any multi geared bike and jand crank it to 100 mph not kph but mph which represent a much lower number. If you want to represent true facts put the bike under load. A no load scenario is useless
Rich, I know that... I also know that the true speed I did with it and a controller limited at 75% throttle was 94.4kmh on flat with front wind of 24kmh on a drag racing lane on past 17 june.
no load speed if just to show the back emf voltage that is equal to that speed. This motor widing is the fastest X5 motor with higher kV.
The data i represented are not to show the "possible" speed on road.. i've never said that anyway. People know that.
Wow 160km/hr would be 100mph. That is some serious freewheel speed. With 160km/hr pulling over 700 watts at freewheel i'm curious how fast you could really get to go when you add weight and wind resistence. Your 100 volt test was with the 5305 so the 5302 would make a big difference. Are you going to be testing high voltage on the road with this motor any time soon?
Hehe!

show this stuff on the street. It will not go 166km/h - It will go 90km/h

@B2GBikes
For sure.. This is a NO load test.. but on the street it will do around 115kmh with 10kW

@Doctorbass
There was one reference on ES for the 5402. Maybe it is a custom build or something?
LegendLength 1 year ago
Why you don't take a 5402 hubmotor? 5 stands for the series, 40 for 40mm magnetics and 2 for the coil windings parameter.

Hey Doctor megawatt.....when's the BOOK coming out on how to set up a FAST pedal ebike for dirt or street?
Something to compete with the Stealth bomber/fighter out of Australia? Ever play with the Wavecrest Tidalforce 750X 36V hub setup?
Your comments/videos & photos here & on the blogs are always encouraging.
Thanks.

With that thing you can drive straight into hell... :o) And your brakes???
Take blade spokes and a narrow tire, then you can run much faster!!

HOW COST THIS MOTER?
ThePetros2009 1 year ago
@ThePetros2009
About 400 usd i believe. Although that high speed version is harder to find than the slower, highly wound ones.

When on loaded (with an aluminum bike frame and 80kgs of biker) could this engine reach that 160kph speed ? (No wind, no slope)
acharad 1 year ago
@acharad
It would be very, very unsafe with an aluminum frame, let alone a good steel frame.
