Holy shit you see the size of his hand? Dude you should be in the NBA. You could easily palm a basketball. Big adams apple too. By the way guy, that shirt makes you look gay.
this thing is disgusting. sad excuse for a being. degenerate to our society. it's a sad and evil and twisted little vermin rodent thing. (The sodomite in the video above that has taken one too many of those hormones and destroyed himself)
Its very interesting that u say testosterone makes you feel numb. I am a gay guy and I can cry. I'm not gonna say I cry easily but its not unusual for me to find myself getting emotional if I am overwhelmed or frustrated or find something touching to the point of tears. I guess it's different for everyone. :) Anyways, your blogs have taught me so much about transgender/sexual people as well as myself and how I process information and my own orientation and identity.
Testosterone will make your emotions more dull but if you are very "emotional" to begin with you'll still be in tune with your emotions compared to others. It's just that if you were a girl you'd cry even more easily than you do now.
Besides, she probably was also very depressed from her gender dysphoria - depression numbs your emotions
"Sad" tears actually present with extremely high concentrations of stress proteins, hormones, etc. In effect, when you (sad) cry, you're letting the stress drain from your body--a way of making yourself feel better. So you might want to think your "no physical benefit" remarks ;)
I know this blog is made for people in the transgendered community, but I find it very interesting. I have viewed most of your videos and I pretty much agree with what you say. Are there any other heterosexuals out there (not the crazy homophobs) who find this blog interresting and informative? This is the kind of positive communication/understanding between people the internet can foster. Ashley, I hope you keep it going.
I think it's interesting too! It's made me look at my own femininity in a different way. It's very informative and I think it definitely helps to foster communication and understanding.
There are a lot of things that science has not proven yet. At any rate I can relate to the crying thing. I probably get in a good cry once every week or two (some months are more stressful then others). There really doesnt have to be a good reason. I think it usually hits me when I am laying in bed trying to sleep, afterwards I always feel refreshed and usually get the best nights sleep in weeks.
yeah ... our hormones fucking make us cry. There was this great article in the New York Times written by a construction worker (conventionally straight male) who had to take estrogen after having an accident, or some sort of cancer, and anyway, his basic point was that he understood why women seem so insane after he took estrogen. I was like "THANK YOU!!!!" people don't understand.
I can cry at the drop of a hat during movies, I've NEVER taken estrogen but I DO believe I was born with a higher amount of estrogen than MOST genetic males. My doctor told me he thought I was an XXY, I wonder if THAT could have to do with it.
At my trans group, I was talking about how I couldn't cry for over a month when I took an androgen, and a transwoman was saying that felt terrible, to not be able to cry. But I didn't mind- I think it's transwomen who mind not being able to cry.
Oh, Ashley, I absolutely agree and cry when I here or see sad things. I probably cry only once every couple of months or so. I just hate my mascara running down my face. My husband can't understand why I would cry...silly men just don't get it.
I can totally understand. I cry at least once every week or every two weeks as well. I sometimes thought I needed a reason to cry. However, I soon realized that sometimes just being sad is okay even if I can't pin point the reason why. My dear friend Peter and I get together sometimes and when we talk about very emotional topics have a good cry together--feeling safe enough to cry around dear friends is a great feeling. Thank you for sharing your thoughts. It's nice to know I can relate.
Every week or so?????? Whoa. I sure do relate to that whole numbing thing and that is gone for sure post estrogen... but I guess I just don't get to the point of needing a good cry very often... once or twice a month is usually the max. Hope the bus ride went well today! I am proud of you.

Oh, and in addition to that, what we call "sad crying" serves as a non-verbal way of seeking compassion or comfort. Animals do it, too.

Real men don't cry, you should look into working on that.
