I'm a 48 year old male and every time I listen to this the tear ducts start... this song is perfection from the opening chords, Liz's voice and when Robin and Simon let go with the wonderful Cocteau's sound... I was lucky enough to see them a number of times including when the supported OMD, from the first Chord at Hammersmith Odeon I was hooked and have been ever since.
I'm 13. This is the first song I ever remember hearing, I was only one or two years old. I had never heard it again, but I always hum it. Now that I've found it, I love it. <3
I first heard the Cocteau Twins when I was about 14 yrs. Old. They would get played out of a public radio station in Detroit. I will be 40 next month and I still get lost in this enchanting music.
I first bought Four Calendat Cafe around the time my daughter was born. Listened to it non stop throughout here first months. She is 15 now and has such an appreciation for this music, especially Elizabeth Fraser. Thank you so much for posting this. The lyrics are just as beautiful as the music.
One day i was reading some fan reviews on the CT official site and i remember one wich says something like this: " Pur is what happen when we fall in love, what we feel when we said " i do", what we taste when we divorce ... " It was kind of contest to win some CT cd's or DVD or something like that. Obviously this guy won. Amazing song, one of their best.
Some day i was reading some fan reviews on the CT official site and i remember one wich said something like " Pur is what happen when whe fall in love, what we feel when we say " i do", what we taste when we divroce.. " I think this what a kind of contest to win some cd's or some CT shirts or something... Obviously this guy won. Amazing song, one of their best.
this song is eternal in voice of liz the compass and complexy Liz is the support the all, the back voice of liz ripper the same song this perfect, this song is perfect to ear went this alone, note the details this song step a step she is want repeat again non stop!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
As beautiful as her vocals always are, the best part of every Cocteaus song is when Robin lets rip with his guitar. The most underrated musician in rock history, and I'm not kidding!
what a song ive beem a fan for twenty five years since john peel who loved em so did i as soon as i heard em on his radio show i knew i was listening to something special and they never let me down years and years of musical bliss thank you so much robin and liz
Although I have listened to them since The Tube and Cherry Dew Drops Drops, I had missed this. Possibly the first with fully recognizable words, it is beautiful and a must for any fella whose made an arse of himself and upset the woman.. This'll help and also instil in her the daft thought that you have an emotional side..
Ditto as below but in English! One of the most original bands of the last 25 years, so many have been influenced but no one has even come a smidgen bit close. Liz and Roddy Frame are not not only best singers to come out of Scotland but whole of the UK.
This is such a beautiful song. I've been listening ot this album obsessively lately. It's really nice the way you've laid out the the lyrics in subtitles, as the Cocteau Twins lyrics are obscurely delivered. Sweet.
This song..... this amazing soul wrenching, but inspiring song. Still after all these years breaks my heart and makes me cry like a baby. I remember after I saw them in 95, at the Warfield, in San Francsico, my friend snuck us down to the fron row and it was incredible. I do admit to being on hallucinagetics and E at the time and later when taking a nitrous hit to this song I completley broke down....it was wonderful. Thank you Lisa you touch my soul and are a true diva and goddess.
Beautiful. I love this song but my fav is Wolf in the Breast. I think the line "reach and you won't lose me" should read "rage and you won't lose me" it makes more sence with the rest of the lyrics
What comes to Cocteau Twins, this was their first album the native speakers could understand even a bit of - well at least most of them, that's what I've heard :D But it's interesting to see subs after listening many years without understanding a word. Doesn't matter though, CT is my fav, always and forever.
They saved the best track on Four Calendar Cafe for last - unbelievably beautiful, Liz's vocal on this is especially uplifting and heartwrenching at the same time.
I only discovered the Cocteau Twins properly a week ago and have since downloaded 4 albums. I thought nothing could beat Blue Bell Knoll but I was wrong - this song is the stuff that dreams are made of - just wonderful. Please get back together guys - for those of us who didn't get to appreciate you fully the first time around. Anth
I was listening to this song in my dream. Felt so good in my dreams. And then after I woke up, I listened to this song, and it was sooo good. It was just like reliving your beautiful dream.
I LOVE LOVE LOVE this. The lyrics have me in tears, esp. knowing what happened between Liz and her daughter. I have never seen CT lyrics before - I never understood a word until Heaven or Las Vegas, and I must admit I thought that they were a bit crass 'are you the right man for me, or are you toxic for me' - bit too pop for me.
One of my fav CC songs purely for the atmosphere and mood of the intro and then when you think it could,nt be any more perfect it takes off to that magic place only the cocteau twins can attain. Pure brilliance...
that kid has to well into her teens already this came out in the early 90's.. wonder if she know's her parents are SOME DIFFERENT KIND OF PEOPLE,.. you always her of rock star kids and what to expect of them to do in music,..this one would have some pretty big shoes to fill..

What a way to close an album!
I mean this piece is just pretty much flawless! Not to mention that bass fill at 3:11, right after the solo. I mean that is just perfect.
