this is awesome the chicago broadcast blames the blues and the blues telecast which u can find here clearly shows mike keenan tap two blackhawks and they jump off the bench on this one this was knock down drag out im gonna beat your ass hockey ya know the way it should be
Now THAT is what a hockey rivalry should look like. That was fucking electric. Hopefully the NHL can get back to its peak popularity because it's the one sport where it seems like every player gives it their all every single game.

Its funny hearing this from the Blackhawks commentators,...ie :"Stevens just cross-checked Presley, nobody saw it" Stevens just barely touched the guy. But I'm a Blues fan, and I guess it doesn't matter, since Stevens left the Blues next year, to win a Stanley Cup, meanwhile the Blues haven't won shit....ever.
Stevens didn't leave the Blues, he was awarded to NJ for signing Shanahan as a restricted free agent. As a Hawks fan, I'll admit, that was NHL robbery sending away a teams captain as compensation for a RFA signing.
Years ago I gave my friend a two hour tape of Hawks fights and this brawl was the centerpiece. The tape was lost years ago, so I was happy to find this clip.
Did someone match up the radio broadcast with the video? I don't remember this game being televised in Chicago and it would've had to for Foley to do the call. I remember going to Sneakers in Crystal lake to watch this game, they always pulled in games off the dish. Good times.
i think sportschannel broadcast this out of the chicago area. i live in central illinois and the first time i saw the game someone had a feed from the st.loius channel. sportschannel used to broadcast games all over the place but they were no doubt blacked out in chicagoland.
@cudabluesman yeah, they acted like manson was afraid to fight stevens when in fact you can see manson trying to get stevens to go to center ice and square off early on in the video. they got excited about the one left stevens got in, too. manson tried to get stevens to go the night before in st. louis but marouelli broke it up.
Was at this game - God I miss the old days of the Norris Division.
The Hawks under Keenan always had the tough guys - I mean they always had tough guys who could play, but Keenan kept the team stacked and the games were fun - good ole rivalries
suck it steven!

That Stevens/Manson fight is legendary. Manson looked so crisp in his uppercuts. He was certainly in his A-game.

You should change the name of this clip to:
"Hockey: The way it ought to be."
I've been looking for this clip for a few years now.
I just want to say this: At least Scott Stevens anwsered the call. Now, you have crap players like Jarkko Ruuttu out there, who just turtle up...

I like the organist playing "The Godfather" theme at about the 3:54 mark on the clip.
