This machine is in great shape for an old piece of iron, that's for sure. That undercarriage looks very good and it must be worth a fortune in and of itself. The operator sure knows what he's doing too. Got a bit of experience, I'd say. Great video.
HAHA I got on an old dresser spreader box (im only 20) and was like "....How the hell do i get this bastard to move!" I had to be taught how to run it! Does this D9 have pull clutch steering?
I'm in the UK and have never seen any flat track D9's around in recent years. The last time I saw one (a D9H as I recall) was on the back of a low-loader going up the M6 around the early 90's. Very, very rare here! D8K's are more common, but still rare..
this brings back some memories . we bought a d9g with rippers brand new in 1965 . sold it a few years ago when my grandfather and uncles retired . I have seen it push alot of dirt . also pushed our dw21's and 631 scrappers for alot of years . it was still going strong when we sold it . I think I had a tear in my eye when it left .
It really hurts my feelings, to see a real operator.

i used 2 of these to push scrapers and had alot of parts and alot of mechanics to put them on.
as long as you keep them running they will push hard

Definitely not this guys first day on a dozer! These old machines require an operator instead of a driver like the new ones. My hats off.

I definatly agree with you, it takes alot of skill to run these older machnes, and those who have it make it look easy!

He is a cat skinner. The new ones are operator friendly and I take a lot of pride in the distinction between operator and seat filler.

New dozers don't have a character nor atmosphere.
The world was opened up by Caterpillar and the D9G-H etc....
The developed world, and the developing world can thank Cat for those old dozers. They are classic part of history.

Don't see many around anymore. I always loved the 66A d9G's. I love the straight stack models!

All that ole D9G "Push" Cat Needs is a 627 OR 631 Cat scraper in front of it while both are rolling smoke black as coal out of the exhaust pipe ;)
