  • Sinatra has told often that he learned a lot from sitting behind Harry James watching him breath. Sinatra said that had a lot to do with developing his style. That is not Sinatra singing the solo is it?

  • Sounds more like Billy Barty singing.

  • Speed a bit too fast, but a great recording.

  • That is Harry James, and Sinatra - true recording from the old days :)

  • The speed control operates a governor, which should maintain constant speed regardless of whether the crank is wound fully or not. Mechanical phonographs do destroy records, though less so with the 1910s and 20s discs which are harder and were designed for the purpose. An electric recording is best played on an electric machine with good lateral compliance, in any case.

  • That's Sinatra - singing like he's at a horse race.

  • He played that record on a victrola because it was meant to be played on one. There is a speed control,(kind of a brake ), that may not have been working properly. I noticed he only wound it up partialy at the begining, so it wouldnt play even faster. You should always change the needle after one or two plays. They are about 5 dollars for a pack of 100.

  • Really?

  • That is defiantly Frank Sinatra singing. It was recorded in 1939 and it sounds much too fast on your machine, which you shouldn't be playing it on anyways.

  • Why on earth would you play that on a Victrola?
