I have a '07 Sonata GLS and I installed a custom exhaust with resonator delete, K&N Air filter, and some custom ground cams from Crane Cams that I bought from a guy on a Hyundai forum. Got 156 mph out of it but the last 15 mph was like pulling teeth. When they make some performance upgrades for the new ones it would be a beast!
136-137 mpg in my gls 6 spd manual, I have a short ram in it and already lose way more traction changing gearsi n florida 90-100 degree weather honestly you can do anything to the sonata besides sri and exhaust so far, as for the short ram..get the piping from auto parts and get an air filter from there or get a n&n filter online. you will see how easy it is. I think the piping was like 3 inches. ill put up race videos soon, so far Ive raced an 06 g35 twice, an 08 Civic Si and 2010 Corola S.
@lostbboy21 these 3 races was with my SRI and the only one I beat was the Corola S by about 4-5 cars with 2 extra heads in my car 40-120 mph run. raced the Civic si 20-110 and kept up, he was stock got me by about a car in the end. now the g35 got me by about 3 cars 20-120 and by about 2 cars 60-120 so kinda tells you the sonata is good on top end. fwd stay away from low rolls against cars with torque lol. either way not bad for a sonata to do this. Ill be putting the exhaust soon to.
Finally.....!! I was looking for the top speed figure. Just bought a new one and decided to wait for some more months to test the top speed....Thank you hqen2000 and k1ngnas1r for the posts.
is the car stock? I just got my 2011 6 spd gls sonata last week and never got ot go past 80 in this city, but when I take it out on the highway I want to try, I might have a short ram installed by then if I can even find one that fits the car since its still new.
All 2011 2.4 Sonatas are electronicly limited to 131 mph.. Mod all you want, but the limiter kicks in. Same for 6-sp man, and 6-sp auto.

@Skimmitar88 Neither of those two even exist. There's a 2.4L and a 2.0T. You can only get the manual in 2.4L.
