So funny, I showed this to my dad downstairs on the laptop and our new foundlander went barking cause the video was on speakers and your dogs were barking at that elk xD
I love how Harry keeps looking back as if to say "dad, how come it's not playing with me more?!..."
He's gorgeous!! Is ha a brown Newf?...
And I think the moose in Alaska weight more than 1,000 pounds, don't they?...I think our moose in New Hampshire can get that big...That's a healthy looking moose!!
My brother used to live in Anchorage and was the Home School Coordinator...He's moved to Bristol Bay now, though, and is a school principal there...
You're puppy dogs are so pretty, and so brave to defend their yard and family against such a big "dog"! Moose are very cute, too! However, I have heard they can be quite mean! I get worried about your doggies every time it tries to lunge towards them!
I found this video quite odd, I used to live in Newfoundland, Canada and the moose there would never come close to someones property let alone stand there with a couple dogs barking at them.
Doug that is a wonerful video it fun to watch, Harry sure has a deep voice. We been around just one newfoundland and she would come up to you in slow run when she get to you she would stand up and hug you.
@pimpDADD1 thats a moose not an elk :) i live in northern sweden = moose country they eat the top branches of our apple tree in the winter :( but they are cute so its okay
I'm native to SF, CA, so my extensive knowledge of moose is from watching Marty Stouffer's "Wild America." He said, "if there's a short cut within 2 miles of a moose; take the long way around." So, would that chain link fence really detour a frosted moose? Or are migrating moose common place in Anchorage? Also, you should know, I'm siriusly in love with your dog. Really. I'm just wild about Harry. Side-kick Kona is pretty cute, too. Please give both a big hug for me.
Hey funkypeaches, your either an idiot or a rubbish comedian. Why do you have to swear and do you honestly think nobody else spotted the joke. Seriously get over yourself.
I LOVE THIS!! It reminds me of my Newf BUNDY when we moved into a house which backs onto a reserve full of Kangaroos & Emu's.... He went ballistic was almost non stop for 24 hours trying to "protect" us from these beasts!!! Loving the bark too. Sounds like my big boy.
Yeah, we have a lot of moose/car collisions, too, in Anchorage.
I imagine there are many similarities between Newfoundland and Alaska... we both have wolves, big furry bears of various colors and size, moose, caribou, fox, coyote, and kinds of small mammals, and probably some similar birds, too.
@dougbrown47 Actually there are no wolves on the island. We have bears, but usually only brown ones. Usually. Sometimes polar bears come across from Labrador. No caribou here either. We do have coyote though, and PLENTY of moose! And they're not even native!
Our 3yr old black Newfoundland has a healthy bark and he gets to use it quite often here in Newfoundland. We have a huge moose population (too many really, on the island portion of the province we average 1 moose/car collision a day !) Moose wander through our garden at least once a week and our dog is sure to let us know every time. But, I don't think he means them harm.
Yeah, moose can be very stubborn. They keep thinking that this was their place to live before the people and dogs came!
Moose take a certain toll on pets in Anchorage... you have to watch your dog off lead in most areas that are 'natural' at all.
We've run into moose on hikes, even around town, all the time. Mostly they just watch you... but when their ears go down and the fur on their neck goes up... beware!
Great video! But somehow I don't think the local moose understand 'dog'. Obviously the dogs are saying "Go away!" and the moose is saying "Duh...why can't I get past this fence?" LOL

Ironically, I've seen moose run from the bark of a rat dog... yet somehow the 200 lb dog doesn't phase that one.
