The dream demons that gave him his power took his powers and immortality away from him which made him completely mortal again in the real world. Ash Williams from Evil Dead killed him shortly afterward and he was sent straight into the vortex of the evil dead book. Without the support of the dream demons, he can't come back or be reborn into the dream world again

It has both Freddy and Jason in it and some of the survivors from both Nightmare on Elm Street and Friday the 13th. They banded together to take them down. Tommy Jarvis and Ash Williams were supposedly the "Chosen Ones" that were supposed to kill Freddy and Jason for good. Tommy killed Jason and Ash killed Freddy.

I don't think there really IS a way to kill him off for everybody. A person has to kill him off for themselves, this gets rid of him in their dreams. Someone else will think about him and bring him into their dreams, they have to get rid of him for themselves, and on and on and on.
