  • The purpose of music is to be listened to...Knowledge is of little consequence for the listener to appreciate it.

  • This is just just SICK.

  • Two of my favorite musicians. I experienced Gonzalo Rubalcaba at Library of Congress a couple of years ago. Absolutely exhilarating. His use of The silence between notes reminded me a lot of Shirley Horne. Such a worthwhile use of time.

  • Bravo!!!

They are geniuses more than mozart was...

Jazz and more complex than another style of music, and that makes the music pleasant to the ears.....classic is boring.... jazz is improvised, requires much more of the musicians....

    Great Dihelson Mendonça!!!

    Parabéns mano!

  • el cabron de chick corea esta bien enpericau

  • Tu é foda Dihelson!! Bom pra caralho!!!

  • he is genius but damn is he ugly

  • This is from '91, not '95.

daesonesb obviously needs to read Fundamentals of Thought.

  • Gonzalo Rubalcaba is an amazing cuban pianist, maybe one of the best young talents, when I first heard his cd The blessing I was sweetly surprised.

  • I love two musicians truely improvising. At their genius levels, they are not playing together, but there minds are communicating directly...

  • she is really beautiful. im prettier tho! 8

  • nice playing by Carlton

  • I know Chick as well, and he's not at all weird. He's one of the nicest guys I've ever had the pleasure of knowing. Not to mention an incredible artist. (Gonzalo is pretty awesome, too !)

  • genius guys are always weird - we are lucky to have him

  • chick corea is a genius on the piano. his runs have amazing dexterity, and the way he changes the timing on some things is cool too.

But he is a weird, weird man.

  • LOL! He does look like a complete mental nutjob in this video (Particularly on minute 5:20) but he strikes me as a very normal man most of the times.

  • You cant tell me that the depths that he has gone into Scientology is not a little bit bizarre.

  • I remember see the both of them at Chick Corea's 60th birthday celebration at the Blue Note in NY. I went home and practiced until the sun came up. It was very inspiring and intense.

  • This is nice. Really enjoyed; my 1st time hearing Gonzalo Rubalcaba as far as Chick what can I say. He's a legend.

  • some of the most incredible improve i've heard yet!!

  • Como que se le quiere acercar pero ni la suela

  • They are both sooo amazing. this performance almost made me cry. they compliment each other so well. god i love youtube

  • Too bad for the out of tune piano...

  • chick corea is weird

  • Chick Corea is one of the greatest pianists of all time.

I know him, and he's not weird at all.

  • To nezkeyz79 I am not sure I understand your point....the piece that these two are playing is 100% improvised; all of jazz music improvised meaning every note is spontaneous and unpredictable!

  • Gonzalo, como siempre extraordinario...

  • This is proof that exquisite piano skills must be countered by grotesque fashion.

  • I do agree that jazz and classical can not be compared; but weren't pianists such as Bach, Motzart, Beethoven etc..... all improvisors?

  • how much of what you hear from a jazz musician is actually totally improvised? I would guess some of it was prepared beforehand. Also on the classical side take fantasie impromptu by chopin....apparently that piece is an on spot impro(using jass terms)....sumhow that doesnt wash with me

  • Typically jazz is mostly improvised, this is not to say it is completely formless, unless it is "free jazz" usually the musicians decide on a very rough basic form, basically a simple road map that they will improvise over, however, when a musicians ears are good enough after years of playing, they can hear what the other is doing and essentially have a conversation as people would with any language. You don't need to plan out a conversation your going to have with somebody right?? Same idea.

  • Can´t wait to hear You, perhaps You let your enthusiasm carry You too far!

  • They also are getting paid by the note! If they would get paid by the swinging note, they would come out empty handed. And IMHO, you should not mention Mozart or Jazz, because you seem to have very little knowledge about either.

  • Ahhh, You´d be surprised if you knew who I am, and how I play both classical music and Jazz. That was really the joke of the year!

  • @vova47 I don't think he really had a jumping point to do anything besides mention either and as a result there was really no way you would know what knowledge he has on either subject. i think you are taking whatever musical knowledge you have and trying to use it to antagonize people which betrays a lesson in music so fundamental it's hard to put to words, but whatever, i don't really care.

  • absolutely wonderful listening to Chick and Gonzalo doing their respective things together and how well they jibe!

  • This is truly amazing! Thank you for posting this this, please post more.

  • Hello, Guys,

    Isn´t it a work of Genius ?

Chick Corea, one of the great masters of all time music ( IMHO ) equal to Mozart, and Gonzalo Rubalcaba, a well-gifted jazz pianist. This meeting was historical, indeed. Listen to the ideas... don´t worry about seeing, just listen! Corea has deep ideas, and Rubalcaba flawless technique and incredible latin swing and precision...

  • thanks for postin' this up...Gonzalo is my favorite....he's innovative as well....his ideas are incredible...i love chick....they are a sight to see and great for the ears
