  • Try chopping through a 6" seasoned alder log twice.

It should shave even after that.

    Mine will.

I've chopped down trees 1 foot thick with my camp knives.

Wood doesn't seem to dull them much at all.

I thing the grit it the bark may be the culprit

  • Good Steel is Good Steel no matter who it comes from , Theres a Few good Companies out there like Dark Ops, Mission Knives , Topps Knives , Falkniven , Coldsteel , Busse , Swamprat , Scrapyard, these Companies All have great quality-controll and use high quality materials, STOP DISCRIMATING KNIFE Companies , BECAUSE OF PREFERANCE PEOPLE!!! ACT SMARTER AND LEARN THE GREAT RIDDLE OF STEEL!!

  • @davinicus1727 I am far from brand myopic, but the fact is that some of those companies use better steels than others. I love Swamp Rat knives, I just ordered a waki last week. SR-101 performs extremely well in bushcraft, but it doesn't have the same wear resistance and sharpness potential of Busse's INFI. Fallkniven's VG-10, Dark Ops CTV2, Cold Steel's Vg-1, all demonstrate an extreme degrade in steel quality and performance (in Bushcraft applications).

  • vid or it didn't happen coldsteelcollecter.

  • my Cold steel laredo bowie shaves after 13 2x4s and i still dont believe it. i do not know much about the knife you just demonstrated, is it stainless steel because thats good performance if it is...actually thats downright amazing if its stainless...

  • Cold steel fuckin blows.

    Shitcollector.

  • @ColdSteelcollecter No, INFI is not a stainless steel, though it is said to have about the same corrosion resistance as D2, which I consider a semi stainless (even though it lacks the chromium content necessary to be considered stainless). I've had some experience with SK-5, and it seems too have decent edge retention. As for stainless, I haven't yet plucked up the courage to do any heavy chopping with my vg-1 gurkha, I think I'd shit myself if I chipped that blade whilst heavy chopping.
